What is Segmentation in operating system in Tamil?
In operating system segmentation is a memory management technique in which the memory is divided into the variable size.
Each part is known as segment which can be allocated to a process.The details about each segment are stored a table called a segment table.
Segment table - is a table that stores the information about each segment of the process.
Base address : It contains the starting phyical address where the segments reside in memory.
Limit : It specifies the length of the segment.
CPU generates logical address into :
Segment number : Number of bits required to represent the segment.
Segment Offset : Number of bits required to represent the size of the segment.
