  • WARNING: DINA HAS MAJOR RANT FROM 18mins in all the way to 30 mins in!
    Something that we both wantedt to address (dina especially for a while now and Dina finally did)
    Don't worry we are not letting things get to us but once in a while it's important to get your point of view across and shed light on a few things.

    For people attacking every single Hijabi girl on the internet:
    You may be the reason a girl takes off her Hijab and hates the religion all together because of your constant verbal abuse, if you can't advise people politely and privately at least keep quiet. The road to hell is paved with "good" intentions.

    So bad that I giggled through this but I just find it utterly ridiculous how muslimahs are attacking muslimahs! I mean come on girlies! This is where we fail in Islam. What happened to one ummah? People laugh at us because Muslims fight amongst themselves. Gah Dina I'm sorry you're having to go through all hate comments

    I'm a Christian and I adore your style and your heart! You are a good example of a Muslim woman to us westerners in my opinion. You aren't judgmental or rude and your husband respects and honors you (and vice versa). I have nothing but respect for you and I'm sorry that some of your brethren in Islam are rude on your social media. peace be with you!

    Dina you know I don't think you should bother responding to these people coming at you. You can take it to account, but ultimately it's your life and you only have to answer to Allah, besides you've never claimed to be an Islamic role model, you're a muslim and you should be left alone to live your life. I'm enjoying these vlogs, but I hate to hear that you're dealing with so much from the comment section. People will never stop, and those people why are they even watching your videos. So annoying.

    • @sabahfirdous1742
      @sabahfirdous1742 9 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Exactly! I don't watch her videos for religious guidance but for some decent, modest entertainment. Plus, she never claimed to be an Islamic role model. Like everybody she is doing her best. Stop criticising.

I try to ignore it but I cant cause its like the majority of the comments is about something small AND STUPID!😩 this is my other rant

    I have said some pretty stupid things about Muslims out of fear but after watching your videos and that how clever, funny and normal that you are, I have to step up my game and change my attitude. This is a compliment by the way. I know people who are Christians that are just like the Muslims complaining about you. It happens in every single group. I am a new fan. I am not religious but I can still see the beauty in what you do. In my best African American voice. "you gone gurrl!"

    Love watching! Convert here and I completely understand Dina's rant.😊 I started wearing hijab a year after my first Anniversary(married 13yrs now with three kids). I'm Hispanic who was Christian and married a Pakistani. Just within a couple of months of wearing scarf a lady came to me and asked me why I wear scarf. She was from Afghanistan and told her I married a Pakistani and converted and so on. She told me, well you shouldn't wear scarf if your going to wear short sleeves and walked away. Me being new to everything I didn't even know you had to wear long sleeves. The way she said it was so hateful.
    Anyways congrats on your new one! Your going to love being a parent!
    Eid Mubarak!

    Your rant is so relatable. I remember when I was in Medina in December this young girl came up to me and she told me my hair is showing (while I'm wearing a hijab). Bare in mind this was amongst WOMEN no MEN were in the area. I was going to fix my scarf as soon as I left the women area, but this woman randomly starts assuming. And then she tells me my bun is too high and that it should be resting on my neck. LIKE WHAT THE HELL? I obviously at first really thought about what she said because it was the first time anyone ever said anything like that to me. But later after thinking about what she said I realized how wrong she was to judge me and to come up to me not knowing my intentions etc. Some people are just ignorant, they don't know your intentions etc but they just judge because they think they know more than you.

    • @AM-ki2ec
      @AM-ki2ec 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's always important to have good thoughts about Muslim and although I wasn't in your position, she is your sister at the end of the day and probably fears for you what she fears for herself.
      Remember, no action (hijab) is accepted without correct intention as well as coinciding with sunnah,
      Evidence: It was narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever does any action that is not in accordance with this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), will have it rejected.” (Narrated by Muslim, al-Aqdiyyah, 3243).
      So even tho your intention was to wear hijab, if it is not done correctly you risk the action of wearing hijab not being accepted at all. I am far from perfect and cannot tell you that I myself wear the correct hijab May Allah guide me.
      Sis I am far from perfect and I hope I could have adviced you so that only you and I could see it but I don't see it possible. Hopefully others will befit from this too and I hope my advice is still private as your on somewhat of an anonymous platform.
      Your sis
      Xx

    • @romz11khan
      @romz11khan 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Anon I understand what you're saying. I don't have any dislike towards her or wish she didn't say that because in all honesty after she said that I was WAY more cautious of any hair showing etc. The only thing is I wish she knew my intentions and that I was going to fix my scarf once I left the area of the women...she assumed I wouldn't.

    Dina & Sid, I'm not Muslim but I related so much to what you spoke about passionately about modest dressing, "correctness" of a hijab, etc. It is so wonderful to see individuals like you who follow their religion and culture and still maintain their sense of self. I think you're a wonderful role model and I feel more confident with myself after having listened to what you said about incorporating one's culture and one's religion together. Bravo and god bless to you both!

      Shamelessbeauty I think that you should chill. Nobody is making anybody a slave. There is a thing called marriage where a couple helps each other out and if Dina gets a lot of help cus she's pregnant whats your problem with it. And making somebody hold keys doesn't mean she's treating Sid like a slave. You just probably don't know what a relationship is. Lol single mother, I don't know where you've been brought up but in my family when a woman is pregnant she doesn't have do do anything let alone carry keys and their husbands are just fine with them if not more happy, and when it comes to respect, why don't you respect her and not call her a twat.

      Omg how does one innocently 'fun' comment get blown out of proportion again. I was like hi5 to the comment made by @raziasultan then scrolled down and thought oh gosh lol it's always like 'duh duh duh' (dramatic music) lol
      Ppl need to stop taking everything sooooo flippin seriously. Sometimes things happen or are done without any major thought behind them I.e if I'm out with hubby il randomly ask him to hold something BUT don't stop to think for 30mins that if I ask him to hold xyz then he's gna leave me... Like what???!!! NO!!!! JUST NO!!! there's sometimes no thought process behind such acts - just random like 'hey can u grab this for a second'- does not mean I consider my hubby to be a slave....
      Sid n dina have a lovely relationship mashaAllah. They take their times to vlog their lives as there are many ppl that enjoy to watch. They do not do it for ppl to sit and criticise them. If ppl don't like what they see y not just stop watching rather than leaving negative vibes!!!! There's so much negativity in the world as it is- It's just so not necessary!!!

    I agree with you Dina at 100% ! I'm a revert myself...and I reverted a couple of months ago....and its not that easy to be honest to deal with this judgment especially from some Muslims ! Walking down a street is being difficult as I receive these dirty looks from muslimahs just because I don't wear abaya or something similar, but I'm trying to cover myself as much as possible... anyways...you gave me motivation and I think you are a good role model! مرحبًا دينا! أتفق معك في كل ما قلتيه، فعلاً اختلاف ثقافات الشعوب تؤثر كثيرًا على مفهوم الحجاب، ففي كل دولة هناك مفهوم خاص للحجاب أو حتى مفهوم خاص للدين! مثل عندما ذهبتي إلى أندونيسيا وواجهتي تلك الإختلافات (السفر بلا محرم، غناء المرأة،....) ولكن هذه الإختلافات لا تعني أننا يجب أن نتقبلها، كونها اختلاف ثقافة!
    ما أعنيه أنه صحيح كلامك أن الحياة في بريطانيا مختلفة وأن الثقافة مختلفة وأعرف كم هو صعب محاولة الإنسجام مع شعب لا يتقبل الإحتشام بالأصل، لكن هذا لا يعني أن هذه الآية تغيب عن بالك (وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَىٰ جُيُوبِهِنَّ ۖ وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَائِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَاءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ أَبْنَائِهِنَّ....) إلى آخر الآية ٣١ في سورة النور.
    أنا أعترف بأنني معجبة بك جدًا! وبشخصيتك ما شاء الله، كما أنك أنيقة جدًا، وأيضاً فكرك الإسلامي رائع ما شاء الله!
    كل ما أردت إيضاحه، أعلم أن الحجاب أمر تدريجي، ولكن يجب توضيح بعض الحقائق أحياناً، حتى وإن لم نتبعها نحن.
    وبالنسبة "للشرطة الحرام" أنا حزينة جدًا على أسلوبهم معك، فالإسلام ليس حجابًا فقط! الإسلام أخلاق قبل كل شيء!
    أحبك دينا!

      Hello Dina! I agree with you on all of what you have said, actually the different cultures has an affect on the concept of the Hijab. In every country there is a special concept of Hijab or even a special concept of religion! Such as when you went to Indonesia and you faced these differences such as (traveling without a mahram, singing women, ....), but these differences do not mean that we should accept it, because "its just different!" I mean, it's true that your life in Britain has a different culture and I know how hard it is to try and fit in with the people that might not accept modesty, but this does not mean that this verse is absent from your mind (not to reveal their adornment except what appear thereof and beaten on the necks bosoms not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands or sons ....) till the end of the verse 31 in Surah Noor. I admit that I am very impressed with you! and your character mashallah, you are very elegant, gorgeous and also I like your Islamic way of thinking! The way you are so concerned about the little girls out there that really struggle with hijab in a non islamic country and making it easy for them..
      All I wanted to clarified, I know that the hijab is a gradual thing, but we must clarify some facts sometimes, even if we did not follow it.
      And about "the haram police" I am very sad for the manners they talked with you, Islam is not only about hijab! Islam is about morality before everything! Love you!

      (And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands.....) An-Nour 31, just brought the aya in a proper english.

    Dina, I have to admit that I really love watching you and Sid. I started watching because I wanted a different perspective on Muslims. I appreciate all cultures and I'm always so curious to learn more about different cultures. People should be more open-minded and appreciate the beauty of cultures and beliefs different from their own. It's what makes this world beautiful. I was a bit ignorant. I had the idea that yes, Muslim men dominate their women and tie them to the cupboard, but you changed that perspective for me. I love your channel I think you and your husband are such a beautiful couple. I actually show your videos to people with negative views about Muslims so they can get a different perspective as well. :)

    Dina, your rant gave me LIFE!!! I live in the US and, while I don't wear the scarf on my head daily, I wear it to masjid and religious ceremonies quite often. Given the islamophobic culture over here, people always ask me if I get comments from non-muslims that put me off, when, in reality, the ONLY comments I've EVER gotten were from Muslims (many men) who sought to tell me that my turban or widow's peak that's fallen out is invalidating my intentions. So to hear your rant on what hijab is, why we wear it (whatever it means to us), why other's critiques are to be ignored, and coconuts (i'm the black/white daughter of converts, as well) was SO inspiring and relieving!! It helps to make me so much more confident and sure of myself in being a Muslim when others set out to make you feel as though you're not quite Muslim enough.
    Thank you, girl!

    Islamically if someone considere them selves as muslim, no matter how small their practice is, you should accept them as being muslim and support and embrace them. Not judge, we are not here to judge each other. People need to replace their egos with the quran as we are all accountable for our own actions and no one elses.

    I agree with everything you've said. It's already difficult being a hijabi in the western world, so it's such a shame that we also get so much criticism from our own community we're supposed to feel safe in. Ultimately, there's a lot of sexism and mysogyny
    I've always wanted to start a TH-cam channel - but I have social anxiety and just the amount of criticism and hate you get is terrifying. Not just you - but the other hijabi youtubers - saima, nabiila,kendyl aurora, etc.

    To be honest the people who say you are wearing it wrong are probably men. Men be like " wearing a hijab is no big deal man." Even though they have never worn one themselves so don't know what kind of feedback you get from society while wearing it. This is coming from a Male btw so don't just say I'm only saying it because I'm a girl. Oh and finally where do you want Dina to put her hijab, next to her eyebrows like she doesn't have a forehead lmao...

Thank you for that! Many greetings from germany :-*

    Loved your little rant!! I completely agree with everything you had to say. Those judgers are just backward thinkers and clearly have no idea of the world today. They literally won't get far in life with that mentality. Keep doing you, forget the haters! Sometimes I think they don't actually care it's just that you're doing better than them so they have to pick out what they refer to as flaws to make themselves feel better but they will never feel good about themself because they are mentally insecure. You shouldn't need to explain yourself they are just idiots! Lol

    Dina you are an inspiration to younger girls, by posting your videos you are doing more good than any of those religious people, as you are giving young girls the motivation to be creative, expressive and to an extent to not care what others think. I completely applaud you for putting yourself on such a difficult platform, and that you have to deal with haters and annoying comment everyday. You deserve more credit and people tend to forgot how difficult your job can actually be, you have to film edit and upload in time. People take for granted the effort you put into these videos and take it upon themselves to humiliate and patronise you.

    Dina im really glad you addressed this issue. Couldn't agree with you more!
    The Abaya (traditional long, usually black robe) is not this universal clothing that all women must wear. My family is from south india and over there long skirts, full (sleeves and blouse) saris which includes long and beautiful scarves were/are considered the ideal modest clothing until much later when the Abayas was introduced from Arab settlers.
    Different cultures, different clothing, same modesty.

    dress like what? you're dressed so modestly.... In my opinion the way you're dressed is more practical than wearing the long black robe everyday which is way too hot in the summer months. i personally don't even believe certain things like niqab is part of islam. I believe niqab is just cultural.

  • @zakiyyalatif6824
    @zakiyyalatif6824 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dina, thank you, thank you for mentioning the struggle that converts have to go through when trying adopt modest dress. My mom is also a convert. When I was young, I constantly saw my mom getting ridiculed for the clothes she wore, and sisters from other cultures "advising" her on how to dress more islamically appropriate. She went through phases of wearing Pakistani clothes, Arab clothes, West African clothes, you name it. After a while, she realized how ridiculous it was to limit the idea of hijab or modesty to one type of clothing. She eventually became confortable in her own style, and even started sewing her own modest dresses, alhumdulillah. I think its so important to encourage and support other muslim women in finding what hijab style is most fitting for them, and to not put certain styles, such as the abaya, on a pedestal.

    Well said dina. We should go closer towards allah not going backwards. Like when ppl say if ur not gna wear hijab properly dont wear it at all. Thats just going completely backwards. People have steps to take in islam things r not gna be done over night. Also men need to be modest as well as women. People really need to educate themselves b4 giving there own interpretation of islam. Yes its obligatory for muslim women to cover but allow the sisters time to make that step. Yes its not nice seeing girls wear hijaab then wearing tight jeans which show ur figure but just have at the back of your mind that she way want to change and thats her step.

    Ive been learning about Islam for a few years now, i know the rules etc but and am far from having an ounce of knowledge but the most important thing ive learnt is your character defines your piety.
    Those that truly care and have sincere intentions would not "advise" like this. The prophetic way is to firstly correct yourself snd overcome your ego. Then advise those around you. None of us who watch Dina personally know her, our concern should be ourselves. Ive seen in many comments sisters arguing about hijab.....and Arguing with Ahadith and Ayat is haram, it could even stop you entering jannah.....
    If you feel the need to correct and guide someone and youre truly sincere, why dont you make dua. Who honestly sits on their prayer mat and prays for their fellow beautiful muslimas? One dua can change a life. Your arrogant words only ruin yourself.
    I truly love Dina for being so honest and sincere, she is amazing and an awesome role model and doesnt need to change one bit to please these arrogant know it alls. Allah bless her and her beautiful family and keep us all on the right xxx

    I'm so tired of how people always judge each other and that goes for all religions (I'm christian myself). It's not for us to judge each other, instead we should be much more concerned about how to treat each other better. At the end of the day, I think it matter more to God how we treat our fellow people than what exact piece of clothing we're wearing.

    Honestly I am SO glad you're on TH-cam. Your rant as you call it, was a logical argument with highly valid points. These muslim brothers not all of but those that sit their talking about how they love everyone but the sisters are doing this wrong and that, like mate you sit their searching up hijabi TH-camrs and analyse them. Stop it honestly, no-one asked and before you go its our duty and blah blah as Dina said look at yourselves. Its halirious when they are preaching about wearing abaya only and they're wearing jeans, how hypocritical. Prophet Muhammas PBUH didn't go around pointing fingers and going this is haram, that is haram. If someone is trying their best to follow Islam then encourage them. Sure Islam places emphasis on our appearance but at the same time our deen is so much more than what others see. You don't know their relationship with Allah SWT. So stop trying to be mind readers and focus on ourselves. Only when you are perfect go analyse someone else. And no human is perfect so basically stop judging.
    Anyways, love the video Dina, all the best!

    People who leave negative hate filled comments need to take a step back and realise that they are actually going against their religion by putting people down rather than kindly voicing an opinion. Now more than ever it can be hard to stick to your faith and I honestly think you're doing a perfect job and think you dress extremely modest! It's usually the people who have issues with themselves and how they behave/dress/act that feel the need to try and dictate. Love your videos you're a great role model for all women whatever age!
