Evening all! I promised myself I'd make a concerted effort to do more popular requests in 2020, and one of the most common things I've been asked over the last couple of years is to do a Ginster's pasty challenge....I get the feeling it might be lost on the international audience a little, but hey it should be a larf nonetheless! Hope you can join me for the next video this Thursday at 7pm GMT! As always I appreciate the support. Have a great week :)
I challenged you few week back to do a pie n mash challenge....and you bottled it saying you don't like pie????? Fair enough if you want to be picky on challenges but thought you wasn't scared of anything. ....hey ho.....I remain the pie n mash king
I remind you of challenge just in case you man up and take it on. Go to pie n mash shop Order double bubble with your choice of liquor or gravy. I managed 8 in just over an hour (due to them having to make more mash) Your challenge is 9 double bubbles in the hour. Goodluck
@@katewinslow2798 i figured, although technically I feel obliged to point out that given the rules of the english language, it can't be pronounced that way with two ts in the middle lol
All I know about the OG pasty is that it was made as it was so that the miners would hold on to the big crust with their mucky hands so that they could eat the pasty during their almost non existent breaks, I admire the miners for their hard work , when you read into the history of mining and how hard they worked. I mean it’s amazing. Also the lamb versions were notoriously welsh (as a welsh man myself I know) and they were called “oggy”
It was the tin miners, because tin was poisonous, the big crust could be held onto with hands coated in tin residue, the main pasty part eaten and then the crust thrown away, so food could be had without tin poisoning :)
As a proud Cornish man (currently watching your vids from Sierra Leone) I’d love to see you do a challenge eating PROPER Cornish pasties, not those mass produced abominations from Ginsters
Cornish people go nuts about ginsters not being a proper pastie yet I've never seen a ginsters pastie until this video, I've only seen slices like a steak slice or chicken and mushroom whatever, they don't claim to be pasties. They are shite though the ones hot from greggs are nice, they don't claim to be pasties either. Pasties are full of veg and half cooked semi hard potato anyway, a steak slice is much better.
That Moroccan vegan pasty was my all time favourite it's soo much better than the meat alernative mainly because I normally have them cold and the meat ones have fat in the breading so I particularly love the Vegan pasty, great eat through nice history lesson and i kinda wish you would go to do somewhere like Padstow in Cornwall and have a mountain of traditional Cornish pasties.
Your side remarks are absolutely hilarious! I don’t even care about what you’re eating, just really enjoy your commentary! Much success to you and Ms. Beard!
Aw man, back when I was 23stone I would have a Ginsters every morning when I got to work. Chicken Tikka was my favourite 😍 this bought back some memories 🔥
Hello from Montana!😂 Not sure if anyone has corrected you yet, but Butte is pronounced like “Beautiful” with out the “iful” at the end. 🤣 Also, to be fair, we pronounce pasty with a long A like “paste”, so I learned something new as well! Love your videos! Thanks for entertaining me during social distancing!
As one of your Montana Fans I highly approve of this video and I also just give a tremendous thumbs up for the Big Trouble in Little China T-Shirt! You’re the man! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Thanks for the video!!! I’m actually familiar with pasties as we lived in the UP of Michigan! The big debate between upper and lower is ketchup or gravy! 😂 Tell Mrs Beard 👋 TIL next time
Interesting fact, the large crust was made on a pastie so workers with dirty hands could hold it while they ate the main part. They wouldn’t eat it, but historically threw it away. Personally, I think that’s the best bit. Especially if you’ve ever had one in Padstow, Cornwall. Epic.
I'm Scottish and I absolutely love Ginsters pasties. I'd be much more inclined to try the real deal though. Like homemade cornish pasties. Undoubtedly way tastier!
1.) I always get hungry watching your videos! 2.) I realize what a tiny selection of ready to eat / takeaway food we have here in Denmark compared to UK or USA :( 3.) Keep the great videos coming!
Loved seeing new foods. So interesting to see what you pick to share with us. Lots of pastry. I would like to see you , Mrs. Beard and your Sis do a team challenge at home or in an establishment. That would be cool as long as there is something Mrs.Beard will eat .lol good video
My great grandparents came from England and went to Montana for my great grandpa to work in the mines. My great grandpa passed away from black lung long before I was born, but my great grandma lived to 94! We still cook our family Pastie Pie recipe they brought from England in Washington state over 80 years later!
My uncle is from the upper peninsula of Michigan (aka the U.P.) and pasties are one of the greatest foods I remember eating. I don't know if they have frozen ones up there, but I wouldn't doubt it. As a San Diego native who eats burritos somewhat regularly, pasties are pretty great!
You brought back the shirt from Big Trouble In Little China :) those look yummy. Glad you seemed to enjoy it. You know that Mrs beard is going to get you one of these days and I'm going to laugh.
Nice one, Adam; as an ex-pat living in Vancouver, I don't consider my visits back home to England complete unless I've eaten a cold Ginsters sausage roll / cornish pasty from a petrol station.
Instead of perpetuating ignorant stereotypes here's a little test that you can do for yourself - go on 5 videos promoting the carnivore diet and then go on 5 videos promoting the vegan diet. Compare the two comment sections side-by-side and see for yourself which of the two groups is the more extremist and lacking in level-headedness. Personally I choose a plant-based diet because vegans have significantly lower rates of diabetes, cancer, strokes and heart disease.
Love your videos as always I needed this after hearing about Kobe Bryant.... Never ever stop being yourself ....Nothing but love and Respect ..be safe be blessed
Hi Mr B all that food was jumbo size, the sausage rolls were huge and the pasties like half the size of a dinner plate. Well done mate that was truly awesome. All your fans in N Ireland wish you luck for the next big challenge . Rob .
The idea of the pasty was for the crust (best bit) to be thrown away because it was used as a handle for miners and also originally the pasty would be half and half, one half sweet for desert and one half for savoury and also Cornish pasties are steak nothing minced proper chunks of meat

Being from Cornwall I can tell you that Ginsters is not loved or eaten by the Cornish .
It's still one off the best prepackaged ones you can buy easily anywhere in the UK with a decent amount of filling in it
yes, ginsters are awful
The best pasty is a Devonshire steak pasty.
Ginsters from Devon, Plymouth I think 🤔 🤣
