This is such common sense. Going back to the weight loss plan has always scared me, as I have learned that being too hungry too much can really trigger me to binge. Having been doing Maintenance for about 4 years now my binges are rare and typically I can pretty quickly recognize those thoughts and recover my composure and those behavior before it escalates. This plan is the one thing that has helped me to lose and maintain, even now at the high end, 80+ lbs. I thank God for leading me to this plan and community!
I have been doing this (subtracting food when needed) and I was feeling bad about not being more robotic. Still, my conscience led me to subtract in order to stay in my Bright Body because my metabolism and daily workouts were not keeping up with the food plan template. On balance, the template is very helpful when I am in a phase were I need more food. I appreciate the clarity!
Haha I had to laugh at how being alone in your own head is like being in a bad neighborhood, lol true! I am far from maintenance but as usual you offer excellent advice, thank you!!
Thank you for all you do for so many people! I found your book and later found a 12-Step program for food addiction. I am so convince that my higher power has helped me maintain my abstinence for five years. How do you account for BLE success without the presence of a higher power? I am so perplexed by this disparity. Please consider doing a video one BLE and a higher power. Does a higher power come into play for your recovery? Thank you for any response you can offer.
Susan talks about prayer and a higher power many times in her books and vlogs. I don't think you've really looked into her works well if you've missed this. My higher power is Jesus Christ, my Lord and God, who gives me power for everything I do.
Hi there! Thanks for your question. Bright Line Eating is faith-neutral, meaning that anyone can do Bright Line Eating and succeed, whether they have a spiritual or religious belief or not. We strive to make our program and our community accessible and inviting to all. Some find the presence of a higher power to be a critical part of their recovery, while others don't. Susan has spoken in the past about her own spiritual beliefs and how they have played a role in her recovery. At the same time, we do not require this of anyone in our community or programs. 🧡
It is definitely my primary purpose in all that I do, including food (Romans 12:1). Even Russell Brand, who was addicted to just about every external object known, has said that his key to overcoming addiction was realizing that he had a spiritual hunger that he was trying to fulfill with the external, but the external will never fulfill this inner hunger. The external is a distraction. He said that a higher power is a daily approach for him too. In my case, I am a Christian. I was always convicted in my conscience about food. I have taken a stand alone because my family doesn't have the same conviction that I do. That is their journey. I would never impose on others. My sole pursuit is a clean conscience before God. Blessings! 🎉❤ ,
Hi there. In general, for soup that has a broth that is on the thick side, a serving could contain 4 oz. protein, 6 oz. vegetables, and 2 oz. broth, for a total of 12 oz. In general, for soup that has a broth that is on the thin side, a serving could contain 4 oz. protein, 6 oz. vegetables, and 4 oz. broth, for a total of 14 oz. For soups that are broth-based (in other words, very thin), you may strain the vegetable and/or protein content, and then weigh according to your food plan portions. Add back in 8 oz. of broth afterwards. Please be aware that these measurements are based on the standard Weight-Loss Food Plan. If your food plan is different, make sure you add in your usual protein amount, your usual vegetable amount, and 2 oz. or 4 oz. of broth, depending on the thickness you desire. For example, with a variation on the above where you’re using beans, the protein amount would be 6 oz., not 4 oz. We hope this helps 🧡

We're so glad you found this helpful! 🧡
I just did this yesterday for the first time in 4 1/2 years of perfectly bright program. So far, 2 days of it hasn’t bothered me at all.
That's wonderful! 🧡
food arithmetic- agree with Brenda below - thanks for the weekly shoutout to us
How do you measure or weigh soup? Vegetables with meat?
