Tip: Move the bass module around the room and hears where it sounds the best. I noticed the my sub sounded kinda weak also but i tried it in different locations and i found one spot where is shook everything and worked great.
Overall a great review. I own the same unit. I was very leery of purchasing a Bose product. Having worked in the AV industry while I was in college, I heard and witnessed the jokes about Bose... "no highs, no lows... Must be Bose". But I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I wanted to put a true surround sound system in, but due to he layout of my room, running wires to rear speakers would have been virtually impossible. I really didn't want to go with a sound bar, but after comparing this to other receivers with center channel and front towers, I felt this was just as good. And too your point, it looks a lot better! One thin I will disagree with on your review is the quality of the sub. I actually like it a lot. My buddy has a high end Validyne sub at his house and I think this sounds just as good as his if not better. Perhaps it has to do with the settings on his, I'm not sure. But I agree with your comment about it being clean and crisp, but mine hits pretty hard.
It's sounds pretty good perfect Bass blends in nice with movies and music... How you liking it for far???? I got the Bose soundtouch 130 I placed my subwoofer in the corner sounds perfect.. Where did you placed your subwoofer?
So far I'm liking it a lot. Ideally I wanted a true surround sound system and was ready to invest a good bit of money. However, the layout of my room made it hard for any type of rear wired speakers. I priced out several high end receivers and speaker packages. Ultimately the salesman directed me to this. I was extremely leery of any sounder system. But the fact that he talked me out of spending more money, i figured he wasn't trying to screw me. I listened to it in the store and was impressed. I have my subwoofer in the rear corner of my room. For a wireless sub, it has really good sound and I have not noticed any distortion at all.
I have it set at one click below the neutral setting. Even at the factory default it was making the picture frames on my walls vibrate. Moving it down one notch stopped the vibration but it still has a good amount of bass.
how would u hook this up from from PC to TV with PC sound to soundbar and also PC picture to TV screen? I hope you understand what you mean, thanks for a great review... Peace
It all depends on your computer. At the very least you could do a 3.5mm out of the computer into a L/R adapter into the sound bar. If your computer has HDMI out then you can just plug in and go.
A couple things, seems like my HDMI-CEC stopped working. It doesn’t come on when I turn on my Dish Network on...and they are both ON, so now I have turn on my Bose manually. Not sure what the problem is, it used to work. Also, I was looking to upgrade the software, there isn’t a USB port on the unit anywhere. Does that mean I can’t upgrade. I don’t have the module to listen to music that they tried to sell me years ago. Is that where it is.
Thanks for your review it was indeed helpful, Just want check what do you have to say about cinemate 130 after 5 years as I am planning to buy it from my friend, is it still good when compared to technology we have in 2020? Thanks again
Nice review. Did you look at Sonos Playbar with Sub? or Yamaha YSP 2500? If not why did you disqualify them (they are same price range)? We will be listing to music mostly and tv secondary. but want the best sounding sound bar for music. What are your thoughts or possibly other manufactures you came across that music is better. Does Bose sound bar have Ethernet connection? is the sub wireless? Can the controlling box be berried somewhere behind TV or is that what receives the remote signal? thanks for the good review and your time!
Great review. Thank you. I too am at the point of replacing my old 5.1 system. Wife is tired of wires and 5 speakers all over the place. I think the 130 is in our future,
My parents recently came over and they were impressed with it. My mom made a similar comment about how it would be nice to get rid of those little speakers everywhere!
+Jason Cannon I haven't looked at the new options but probably a definitive tech or I've seen some higher end companies make a single sound bar that you hook up to a receiver. But if I had a full receiver setup I'd probably want more than just a sound bar and sub as well
thanks for the review. ive been looking at all the systems. and trying to decide if this is a direction i want to go ( converting the den into a movie/game room) it does seem to be a bit of a compromise compared to a 5.1 system, but it has some good qualities it seems also
Hey, just before I get this pack, could you please help me find out the dimensions of the consol, making sure it fits in my TV unit. Also, I know the RC and console are operated via inferred, is it possible to get a version of one that connects through cupboards, since there's a door for my TV unit, it would be much much easier if it operates wirelessly. Thanks
Thank you for a very nice review .. I agree with all the points mentioned other than the sub as I feel it is pretty good .. could you please elaborate the center channel option as I could not understand what really that option is for .. like what I understand is that it can be used to enhance the dialogue .. not sure if I am correct ..
You are correct I completely forgot about the setup process. I will edit my original comments as it is worth mentioning. I don't have the wifi adapter so I can't comment on it. I do three apple tvs in the house and while they aren't perfect they are synced to my media library and I can stream through them. Didn't know about the 1080p but then I rarely ever see a true 480p signal these days anyone once I dumped most of my older DVDs but that's good to know!
A great review that helped me to make my decision, thanks. Mine arrived today, is all set up, and sounds great. I ran the calibration, and noticed that the bass, treble and center settings are all flat / at zero. If you adjust these, have you found that it "cancels" out the calibration results? What settings for each are you using?
I think it resets them because for each calibration it is making a new baseline so to speak. I actually find the adjustments are pretty minimum as you can go 10 up and down for a total of 20. Keep in mind my final settings were to balance out things for movies and so we can still use it for when the kids are down for bed. With my old speakers we had to shut them off and only use TV speakers at night. These settings give me good sound at all levels. Congrats on the new system! Audio comp: enhance dialogue Bass: 2 Treble: 3 Center level: 3
Hi, just wondering what sound at would you advice me to get I have a 50inch TV and possibly getting a 60-65invh TV. Would one of the other sound bars (couldn't hear what you called them) you spoke about be better as the TV is bigger? Thanks.
Great review thanks a lot and I wish you answer the questions asked to you 🙏🏻😇 Are you still happy about your system? I did go across bad review too so I'm steel septic?
Thierry Laurent This maybe weird way to put this and I'm sure some will hate it but I'll compare it to Apple products. I know lots of people who buy apple and PC products. People who buy PC products bounce around brands and are often focused in what they want. People who buy Apple products are generally more content with their purchase and deal with the negatives, nothings perfect. The Bose leans more towards the Apple folks. Its not perfect but I'd buy it again just like I'd buy my MacAir again. Anyway, just a different way to think about it. Don't need a 1000's replies, just one mans opinion.
Nice review, I just got mine too. One quick question I saw some sound delay when I set up with my new samsung 4K tv, do any one know how to fix the lag.....? Thanks!!!
Rocky moon There is an option on the Bose to adjust the audio delay so they sync. I believe my Samsung TV had an audio delay setting in it as well depending on how your sourcing the audio.
I tried that too, But it didn't fix my prob. Finally I used the fiber optical cable which reduced the delay to 1-2 sec now it seems good. Any how thanks for the Suggestion.
+Rakesh Naredla your tv should have a hdmi setting that says "arc". Try connecting the bose console to the hdmi arc setting on your tv. You will not need the fiber optic cable and the sound will be better.
A soundbar delivers a better sound than Cinemate II ... Good for movies but not for music and the bass still a disappointment..it s there but not dyp enough compared to other brands at that price range...Not eaven close should man say..... sorry Bose
Great review mate. Thoroughly considered and articulated. Thank you
Great Review you gave me exactly the review i was looking for.
Tip: Move the bass module around the room and hears where it sounds the best. I noticed the my sub sounded kinda weak also but i tried it in different locations and i found one spot where is shook everything and worked great.
Where did you place the subwoofer in the corner?
I placed it in the front right corner of my room
Nice I placed my in the corner and the bass is perfect I usually put the bass on half way
Same
Jack McCallum check out the Bose soundtouch 300 subwoofer it's much bigger.. looks like a real subwoofer finally. Lol
Overall a great review. I own the same unit. I was very leery of purchasing a Bose product. Having worked in the AV industry while I was in college, I heard and witnessed the jokes about Bose... is this system really 5.1.? it's too expensive if not
Thank you just bought this . so now I can hear my boy D.J.T. loud an clear. Make America great again.
thx for the video! stupide question: is it a 2.1 or 3.1 soundbar?? I mean the Focal Dimension is a 3.1 soudbar.thx for answearing!
Hi, if you didn't buy a Bose sound bar, what would be you're second choice?
+Jason Cannon I haven't looked at the new options but probably a definitive tech or I've seen some higher end companies make a single sound bar that you hook up to a receiver. But if I had a full receiver setup I'd probably want more than just a sound bar and sub as well
+foxrider68x sanyo sound bar 35 bucks at wal mart very good
the sanyo bar is amazing dude

Great review ..but you forgot to mention the adapt iq feature and the soundtouch wifi feature that rivals sonos and the 1080p upscale from the console

Thanks for the review! What is your opinion of the rear speaker that comes with it?
This is the same price as the Bose sound touch 520. Probably uses the same subwoofer too. I wonder how much they compare to each other.
thanks for the review.. got one comin next week. looks awesome :).
What do you think if it?
Thanks for the review.
Do you feel this will be sufficient for a bedroom setup?
It's loud enough for any setup or room.
You may consider saving some money and checking out their other smaller soundbars.
foxrider68x Did you see the new Soundbar yet.. Bose soundtouch 300.. Bigger subwoofer and you can add the rears speakers.
can someone please compare bose 300 to bose 130?
I dont see the console with bose 300. can that be avoided in bose 130 also?
Thank's for the review. Can you control your PS3 (menus) by using the Bose remote (with cec hdmi) ? Thank's
I need to go through my menu options as I've never looked through it. So far with default settings its doesn't but I am now curious to try.
What the difference between the sound bar 300 and the 130 sound bar that you have
very good review, and I think that you said you also reviewed a sonos soundbar? Can you tell me how you thought they compared?
I feel sonos bar is not even worth half the quality of bose.
very nice review thx. but dark table made everything dark.
A great review that helped me to make my decision, thanks. Mine arrived today, is all set up, and sounds great.

+Boomer Sooner how do you know this??
do you know old bose cinemate sr1 used same sound bar as cinemate 130? thanks
How Did you calibrate it
Awesome review !!! Thankyou !

The function of the sound itself will be fine but I personally think above 65" you should do a mock up to make sure you like what you see.
really nice rivew =D the CineMate 15 has a wired subwoofer so its not the same one as the 120 or the 130
Great review thanks a lot and I wish you answer the questions asked to you 🙏🏻😇 Are you still happy about your system? I did go across bad review too so I'm steel septic?

Hi , is the speaker wireless?
Where's the Bass Module?
thank you :)appreciate the review
No problem, glad it was helpful!
is it better than the sonos playbar and sub?
Good review👏
Thank you 🙂
Nice review, I just got mine too.
One quick question I saw some sound delay when I set up with my new samsung 4K tv, do any one know how to fix the lag.....?
Thanks!!!

Got it, Thanks.
What's the piano music at the first part of the video?
Is bose 130 good for listening to music?
Definitely.
awesome review.👍
@ Costco it's $999.00!
Very helpful, ty
Does anyone know if it supports 3D pass through for blu-ray players?
Because 4k support requires at least HDMI 1.4 I know that standard also supports 3D so you shouldn't have a problem.
Tracy Ballard It does, its a great soundbar
how much did u pay for this ?
With that said...with that said...with that said....
bose is the best !!!!!!!!!
Naaa.
thanks!
WHERE IS THE SUBWOOFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the video is dark.
A soundbar delivers a better sound than Cinemate II ... Good for movies but not for music and the bass still a disappointment..it s there but not dyp enough compared to other brands at that price range...Not eaven close should man say..... sorry Bose
do not buy anything from bose ffs
