Amarnath walks away like an Indian Dad, hands behind his back, face bowing down, his expressions dipped into disappointed for his momentary lapse of judgment.
Amarnath actually was dismissed twice like this. Once he defended an Aravinda Desilva delivery to silly point and started running. When Aravinda rushed to collect the ball , Amarnath inspite of having all the time to easily get back to crease, chose to tap the ball away from Desilva reflexively and was given out obstructing the field.
Mohinder Amarnath acted like a cricket genius who knows almost all the rules and walked back bfr umpires decision. Great gestures from great person..👌👍
He is right on the Desmond haynes dismissal. I saw that live on tv. He played tge balll and it was heading towards stumps. He intentionally used his hand to push it away. Otherwise it would have hit the center of middle stump.a@tapovartsrivastava9036
Handling the ball issue is the most delicate and hard decision to make for the umpires. In our time coaches train us to kick the ball. I guess these great batsmen did not have such coaches. Mohindar is a gem of a guy; great sportsman spirit during professional cricket.
One worth looking up and is on youtube, and I remember it when it happened, was Andrew Hilditch out handled ball. Sarfraz Narwaz appealed when Hilditch was silly enough whilst at the non strikers end to pick up the ball and throw it to Narwaz.
Steve Waugh and Michael Vaughan both got out handled the ball in the same year 2001 against Test Match vs India in India...against Harbhajan Singh and Sarandeep Singh respectively..
Handling The Ball will be called as out only if the Umpire convinced well enough if the bats man handle the ball in had that was going to hit the wickets or prevent a catch being taken (wicket keeper most time)
Nope. Andrew Hilditch was before him, in 1979. Ironically in a test against Pakistan and as the non striker, he picked up the ball and threw it to Sarfraz Narwaz who appealed. Hilditch out. It's on youtube, and something I remembered well at the time.
My comments - 10) Was given not out because the ball becomes dead after lodging in the clothing 9) Out obstructing the field. Stokes probably didn't consciously block the ball from the stumps, but that was the effect of his action and the action was deliberate, and he was not protecting himself. 8) Wasn't done with intent, but intent doesn't matter 7) Appeal for obstructing the field. Given not out as he was protecting himself. 6) Typical handling the ball dismissal. Instinctual last moment block with the hand. 5) Awful lazy stuff. 4) same as 8) with a bit of 5) thrown in. 3) Saw this one live. Hilarious that Armanath didn't even bother looking at the umpire and just walked straight off. 2) same as 6) 1) same as 6)

Jimmy amarnaath was most generous of all batsman, he knew his mistake and walked even without looking at umpire, as commentator also praised Jimmy for his honesty
Kapil Dev was the bowler not the baller if you going to write something or add comment get your diction and spelling correct not like A 4 year old child love Anthony Fed ex lol
I think the MOST FAIR RULE will be to allow batsman to defend his stumps even by his hand gloves. Since gloves contact of ball to the fielder is considered out, it's quite fair to allow batsman to defend his stumps using gloves.
Ball was never going to hit stumps. Watch video again. He knew so did the keeper. No fielder other than opportunistic Lara appealed. Cullinan was if anything, guilty of taking things lightly in a live game. But he was not I'll intentioned here.
The Steve Waugh error, & a magnificent series performance by Harbhajan Singh turned what would have been a famous series win by Australia into a series win by India.
The most unlucky handled the ball was Andrew Hilditch who was at the non strikers end and picked up the ball to give it to the bowler in a good deed and safraz Nawaz appealed handling the ball in a very unsportsmanlike appeal and he was out love Anthony Fed ex lol
In international matches players like Dean Jones and David Hussey get away with handling of ball while Pujara gets out in a local county match for handling the ball .... Level of hypocrisy does not knows any bounds....
Dean Jones was not out because the law states that when the ball becomes lodged in the batsman's protective equipment it is a dead ball. Hussey "though I can't remember the incident" the talk show people were commenting on the ability to protect yourself, from the footage it looked like he would have comfortably made his ground. Pujara knocks away a ball with his hand that was at least going to go close to his stumps while still in the first stage of its motion from leaving the bat 100% out every day of the week, in fact that is the basis of the reason the law was bought in for. Stop trying to bring up prejudice where none exists, it's too disrespectful to those who have actually been victimised.

Inazamam ul Haq. Obstructing the field, against India. I think Suresh Raina threw the ball from mid on towards the striker's stump & Inzy just caught it with his hands

Yes bro your right it’s almost video obstructing the field

Ben Stokes wasn't out handling the ball.
He was out "Obstructing the field"
Same was the appeal in case of Hussey
To be fair handled ball itself is no longer a dismissal, it's all obstructing the field now.
