I'm trying to import some 3D Print-ready STLs to use as minis in this program, can you recommend a workflow to digitally "paint" them for use? I'm hoping to set up both minis and dungeon tiles in order to be able to simulate my actual tabletop game in a virtual environment.
I actually would steer away from STLs meant for printing where possible. they tend to be *very* polygon heavy. if it can't be avoided, I would try chucking it into blender, do a decimate (or whatever they call that modifier). I *believe* blender has a screen space texture painting feature, so an auto UV unwrap should be suitable
I have never had a problem exporting PNGs with transparency with GIMP. I wonder if GIMP has the same problem Photoshop does, and if it does not why Photoshop would and GIMP wouldn't.
