- Troop 82 had an unforgettable weekend at Thunderbird Districts Winterburg Campout, held at Forestburg Scout Reservation. The weekend was filled with fun, adventure, and friendly competition!
Saturday began with troop rifle shooting, followed by a hike to the frozen Darlington Falls, which was absolutely stunning. In the afternoon, scouts enjoyed ice fishing, skating, and hanging out on the frozen lake. The troop-wide games were a huge hit, featuring tug-of-war on the ice, the 2-man saw, log pull, sled pull, Kiwi, and King of the Box. Troop 82 took home first place in 3 out of 4 troop events, winning the sled pull, log pull, and tug-of-war! Great job Troop 82!
As always, our troop enjoyed our traditional chicken and dumpling soup, a Winterburg favorite. Saturday evening was capped off with an interfaith service, a closing campfire featuring songs and skits, and the announcement of game winners. The scouts ended the night playing board games in the cabin.
A special thank you to Don Brockel, whose support made this trip possible even though he couldn’t join us this time. Thank you, Don!
