The remark on 14:03 onwards is spot-on. About a year ago, I said "running should be as easy as cycling" as a statement of where I would want to be... something that is so completely natural that it doesn't feel like a real effort, no matter the speed. Something you can do at any time, at any moment.
Funny thing is that there is this comment on one of Nicolas' videos saying "you make it look so easy" to which Nicolas replies: "It IS easy!"

Ah man! and what a great mentality to have! To say something and actually perform that same 'something', is two really completely different things and its great to see Nicolas is that example of achieving both!

That’s crazy that a 7-7:30 mile pace is “easy” for you. Incredible!!!
You had 48 subs at this one. I see your channel jumped up a bit since this one.😂😂😀

Ahaha! yeah man, this training period was before I suffered with shin splints so yeah 7-7.30 was about my easy pace - more so around 7.40-8 now haha! But we rise!! 😁😁😁

@@bayleymassey - Cool, I did see that. You could go far.
Myself, I've had an almost 25 years running hiatus because of earlier knee problems. Been doing the barefoot/ minimal thing since two years and that fixed everything. Still building (an now fighting age at 47 :)) but it's going really well... best running I've done my whole life right now. Currently at around 45 km/wk, trying to increase to double that number this year. Fairly competitive for my age - hoping to finally break 40 min. on the 10k within a few months.
Do check out El Coyote Loco here on YT if you haven't already - minimal footwear, high mileage, elite level, he sort of confirmed everything I've been learning the last few years.
      What is you weekly mileage?

bigbattenberg thats awesome bro! Really pleased to hear things have started looking up for you after taking up barefoot/minimal running! definitely something i am way to scared to try😂! 47 breaking 40 is some good going that too! Will definitely check him out, i enjoy watching videos of other peoples journey within this sport :D!!! I am currently running around 40 miles per week (2/3 hard sessions a week on the track/treadmill) and the other runs all being easy or progressional paced. I find myself best performing when around high 40s / low 50s but being super focused on breaking 15 this year in the 5k has made me want to stay low so i am fresher for the speed sessions haha! But long story short. Throughout the year (if im not full marathon training) i usually stay between 40 & 60 a week.

@@bayleymassey - Your times are really impressive... within the best 100 at the Vitality - a good aerobic engine as they call it. Not taking anything away from the hard work you have put into it of course! Any chance to go pro? Have you looked into this?
If you are already used to minimal footwear on the track (no heel drop shoes especially) as it shows you are, already then you are more than halfway on the barefoot/ minimal running all the time I think. It has taken me well over a year to get rid of very sore calves after every run, I could not run for days because of this (do ride the bike every day though). But recently it seems something has 'clicked' and my calves are fine every day now... it's really interesting this process. I do mix hard and soft surfaces to run on. My shoe of choice is the Merrell Vapor Glove btw.
The mileage thing is interesting... since researching more I was inclined to try and increase mileage before anything else. It's quite interesting to see that Nicolas Filippazzo (El Coyote) insists on a bare minimum of a 100 miles/ week while you are on 'only' half that... goes to show there is no 'one size fits all' I guess. Nicolas himself did 180 mile weeks, just amazing. It's a pity that he has quit for now.
