I think you've hit on something important, especially for those with hooded eyes who want a lift. It's like a soft modified cat eye look done with shadow vs. eyeliner. With hoods it's difficult to achieve a liner wing. Thanks as always for great tips!
Wayne, I am so fond of you! You have such a wonderful way about you, and I love your community spirit. You have made me laugh, learn and think for years while I have been enjoying your channel. I've just completed chemo and radiation and have never felt less attractive. But you have rekindled my interest in making an effort with my appearance. And keeping it simple, as you do, helps me feel less overwhelmed. I'm facing a changed face in the mirror now and you have given me some great ideas about where to start. Thank you for all the work you do in helping us all feel a little better, in many ways.
Thanks Wayne for the tip. I cannot remember the channel where I got a similar tip to yours but it also works well if anybody is interested. The tip: before applying the eyeshadow place a bit of surgical tape on the outer corner of the eye and then apply the shadow. Like your method one can apply freely and not worry about it being perfect. When the tape is removed it leaves the perfect shape like yours. It helps to put the tape on and off the back of your had first (to get rid of some of the tack ) so that when it is removed it does not pull the skin. Bit like a stencil.
I love Risa Does Makeup's hooded eye tutorials and she's a big proponent of scotch tape. I'm going to try Wayne's way too, and compare the results. Now I'm off to check out Wayne's brushes...
I've seen Risa of Risa Does Makeup use Scotch tape on this most delicate skin and wonder why? Paper tape for gauze bandages would work so much better. Roll it on and off the back of your hand a few times to reduce the stick-um before you apply it to your face. I've even used just a torn strip from a single tissue, lightly misted with plain water before I place it on the skin and then I allow it to dry a bit before I start the eyeshadow; it's so much kinder. Less disturbance of the makeup underneath. No irritation to the skin.
@@MyCleverHandle Good tips, thank you. I buy my surgical tape from the chemist and it is really gentle as long as I de-tack it on the back of my hand. Every single time I have done my eye make-up by this method I have received complements, which is really something because I am not very skilled at all applying cosmetics.
I watch Wayne Goss almost every day and I haven't worn makeup in about 5 years. Whenever I get motivated to actually do my face again, I am Wayne ready. Luv this man!!!!
I'm 72 and have plenty of wrinkles and droopiness to show for it, but I'd like to inspire you to start wearing makeup. I rarely leave the house without a little something, even if it's just eyebrows and lipstick. It makes me feel so much more confident and 'together', and only takes a few minutes. I hate to look 'overdone', so I've learned to be subtle. When I have the time, I do a bit more just bc it's fun to play with makeup. After a while, special techniques become second nature, like overdrawing thin lips and the right shadow for your eyes.
I actually discovered this technique on my own, simply because I was never able to apply and blend shadow properly. It always just naturally ended up a big, fat mess so I would take a makeup wipe at the end and make a nice clean line! I never feel like I’m doing my makeup correctly so to see the talented Wayne Goss using a technique I had already been using, myself, made me tickled pink 😊 Thank you!
I’m nearly 54, I love make up and wear it every day. Thank you for your videos, you’ve shown me so much. At my age sometimes you feel like just giving up, but with your beautiful techniques I don’t have to.
Using micellar water on a Qtip is my personal favorite for this. There are micellar waters that are also safe to leave on your skin, so try that if you are very sensitive like me. If I left a makeup wipe on my face it would not be great. Love the technique!
Beautiful, as always! I LOVE all of your instructions - they make us, especially those of us who are trying not to age ourselves any more with outdated makeup applications, feel confident achieving clean, uplifted looks that are beautiful on everyone! Thank you for years of the BEST tutorials! (PS You have certainly updated your own look with precision and a tweak to where you’re now naturally gorgeous all on your own! Looking mahhhhhhvelous, darling!😊🙏🏼💕)
This is the best eye shadow video I’ve ever watched. Not only do I have hooded eyes, but one is shaped differently than the other. I haven’t been able to figure out how to do my makeup for quite some time, despite watching countless videos. Nothing has worked for me until this. Bless you for all you do for us 🙏
WOW is all I can say. After spending wayyy too much time trying to be precise to create this look on my hooded eyes and 9/10 times it fails. Thank you so much for this simple version
This is very much like your big eyes technique which I love and use all the time. It’s like a more casual version of it. Another one to go on my saved videos list! Thank you Wayne!😘😘😘
That’s awesome. Thank you. I’m still new to eyeshadow and forgot that I can make a mistake or mess, then take another minute or so to make it better again.
You, my dear man, are a genius. You are correct, I tend to dislike eyeshadow now that my mature eyes are sliding all over the place and are becoming even more hooded by the day. Thank you so much! 💗
OK. Admission time. When I am trying to be neat with my application, it's messier than this😅 Seriously, thank you for giving us tools for application and for cleaning up the mess!
You truly are a gift. The tips and techniques and the way you just keep it real and simple yet stunningly beautiful, its refreshing and grounding all at the same time. Thank you for everything you do.
Thanks Wayne! I LOVE your makeup tips and tricks! I do something similar (and have for over 30 years), but I don't use a makeup wipe. I dot a small amount of concealer and use the sharp edge of a makeup sponge to clean up the area. That way I don't have to re-apply any makeup.
Thank you so much for this video Wayne ❤ yourself and Robert Welsh are the only 2 people I watch and take advice on make up products and application, have a great weekend XX❤
Yesss! Both are absolutely wonderful. I also love Alexandra Anele and Smitha Depak - you might look into their YT vids as well - these 4 are by far and away the top MUA gurus ❤ (imho...)
OMGOSH! Can’t. Wait. TO. TRY. With one of my Wayne Goss eyeshadow palettes of course (the same one in video). I’m also going to try with a very dark, almost black color, so I can’t get a “faux” winged liner; something so difficult to achieve with a hooded (Asian) eyelid. THANK YOU WAYNE!
I was going to comment that Wayne was causing the eye to look droopy, BUT THEN he taught the magic trick, and it totally lifted the eye. Nice job, Wayne.
Hi, I love your tutorials. Can I ask you do do some for people who were glasses please. How much makeup and were to place it is always a problem for me.
Wow! Up to the 5 min mark, I thought you were having a laugh, but my goodness! That really looks amazing and is great for me as I am pants at blending. Thanks! X
After watching one of your tutorials I always try to do it your way and mostly it looks really good. After two days I forgot everything and do it my way again.😂
This is my all time favorite eyeshadow tutorial of all time!!! This is gorgeous!! Can’t wait to give it a whirl. You’re the best makeup artist alive ya know. Just sayin. 😊❤
This is genuinely the first time in my 45 years of existence that I've managed to apply eyeshadow and not look like a 7 year old that went through her mom's make up bag. And I truly thought I was a lost cause! This video is honestly a magic trick. Thank you!
Hi Wayne, I want to thank you for teaching me so much about applying make up and all the rest 😂. I've turned 66 and for f sake everything from my face has dropped to the floor. Love your honesty. 🥰🥰🥰
I'm not the type to use eyeshadow most of the time cause i've never know how to really use it. If I use, I do it with one colour. Don't know how to blend different ones. But this tutorial I LOVE IT!! Love how easy you explain how to put it and blend it. I will try this. I love the colours you used. I use eyeliner all the time and since i'm aging, 50 some, my skin i've noticed a lot of changes specially in the eyes. My eyeliner doesn't stay as it used to, it smudges. I've tried different eyeliners always by the middle of the day end up looking like a racoon. Anyhow, thanks for this. Will definitely try it out.
Can we appreciate Wayne’s consistency on TH-cam? Not to mention professional tips and likeable personality ❤
I appreciate that! ❤️
Love you Wayne!!!!

This is EXACTLY what I do! Heavy hooded eye gal here. 💜💯👍
Wow, looks good!!!
I created a video showing how to do this with a concealer brush so you don't mess up your foundation layer.
@@christinagracewhite yes that’s been done a ton - it’s not ideal to harsh
@@jettsetgirl It's not harsh at all and is less stretching to the skin if you're concerned about crows feet.
I so adore how polite Wayne is and how fun and how easy this makeup is!

Thank you for this great technique. 😊 I’m so sorry for the loss of our Queen. She was so loved. I’m from Canada. 😢
Oh my word, this works a treat.

Oh how I needed this! My 43 yr old eyes are not the same as my 20/30s so it’s like I’m learning makeup all over again. Thank you
I use the Almay makeup pad removers to do what you did with the wet wipe. Love this trick!
I used to do this for my clients years ago to "clean up" after my makeup app. Great trick. Love your color pallet.
Lucky to have found you! Absolutely beautiful 😍 so helpful!
A hundred times thank you! I have hooded eyes and can never get the lift look quite right. I gave up. You’ve given me confidence to try again!
