  • Container House Tour + Enter at www.omaze.com/e... for your chance to win a $130K Custom Tiny Home from Tru Form Tiny and support a great cause, the National Park Foundation.
    In this video, we’re touring a unique 1-bedroom home that was built with a 53’ foot used shipping container. It’s called a Plunk Pod, because it’s built completely off-site, and designed to be plunked down and ready to use wherever it’s needed, whether that’s in a backyard with full hookups, or in a remote location with off-grid systems.
    You can find out more about these Plunk Podz, and see more container and prefab homes built by Northern Shield on their website and social media:

    A few things I'd change: 1. Gotta have a washer and a dryer. 2. Raise that bed several feet and put in long drawers underneath. 3. Install that big screen tv on a swivel stand or full-motion mount so it faces a larger area. Other than that, I like the layout of the Plunk Pod. =)

      I'd also hollow out the step from the front door/sliding door to put shoes under since Idk anyone who only has 1 pair of shoes. Bed would either be a Murphy bed or on a platform with hinges for storage. and DEF need a washer/dryer...

    I love the idea of using 53 ft containers instead of just 40 ft containers or especially the really small 20-ft containers but that living room is way too small because you got to have at least one couch that way you can snuggle with somebody else as well as have a spot for a guest to potentially sleep on for a night or two so I'm really not impressed with the living room in particular on this model but it looks nice nonetheless and I admire what you guys are doing using containers like this for sure and I think it's a way of the future.

  • @dss9775

    Beautiful.
    Cool idea of portable solar unit.
    ***if that was my container I would have put the kitchen where the living room is and the living room where the kitchen is so that I could sit on my futon couch and look outside onto my beautiful property. And then I would put a deck with an awning. I would also put it on a cement foundation because if you put it on cement footings the ground over time will not necessarily remain the same and you can have some sinking of some of those footings.
    I would then add a rain catch system with water filtration system.
    I would have one bathroom and I a laundry room.
    I would have a bed suspended from the ceiling and storage underneath the bed and a storage system with hanging space and drawers on the wall with the door.
    You could also make a Murphy bed system in the bedroom and during the day it could turn into an office/studio.
    I would utilize the interior height of the container for added storage.
    See how #vanlife & #tinyhome dwellers utilize storage systems.
    you will find those open shelving ideas in kitchens collect dust.

    My friend is a trucker. He & his wife are exploring selling their expensive yet small house in Olympia WA and getting this until he retires from trucking. He has his own tractor so he can move it himself. He intends to treat it like an RV that he moves 1-2x a year. If he ever builds permanently, he would add a 2nd unit to double the width and make it into a REAL home addressing people's concerns in these comments.

    Really beautiful. The only part I don't care for is the grid-like look outside. I love the darker wood tone on the floors. It really warms up and balances the more industrial look of the kitchen. For me, I'd change the kitchen seating/multi-use space by shortening it up to match the side counter and have it face the kitchen vs the wall. It would free up a little space on the LR side as well. The kitchen feature wall is so pretty. I like where the angry owls live in the storage box area above the bathrooms. 🦉That's what the boxes looks like at first, haha. Why does the floor only have one coat of sealer? Isn't 2 the standard?

    Good design for a small space but
    4 things to be improved:
    1. Dishwasher is essential in the kitchen and should be added even if it adds 2 feet of width to the kitchen.
    2. Didnt see a Washer and Dryer
    3. Didnt like the bathroom seperation. Tear down the wall and make it one big bathroom with a shower/bathtub hybrid with one sink that has counter space filling the wall its on.
    4. The bedroom was really tiny and its unattractive to not be able to fit side tables with a queen bed. If a couple is living in this a queen is the bare minimum bed size and king is desired.

    What I don't like about container homes is how narrow they are, almost necessitating a hallway. In a tiny home, a hallway is a big waste of space, IMHO. This one is 53 ft. long, quite long for a tiny, but with a very small bedroom, not much living area, and no place for a washer/dryer. This would be fine for an AIRBnB, but not for full-time living. Also, even for an AIRBnB, it would only accommodate two people comfortably. It is probably pretty pricey, as well.

      Assume a washer/dryer combo is in the mechanical room. A lot of airbnb owners don't want large groups anyways.

    I need something like this baddddd !! but alot of times these things cost about the same as an over priced house on the market these days and i cant help but wonder are these really helping us live a sustainable life style alot of ppl who own or build these, rather its a tiny home or skoolie already come from money or have great paying jobs trying to tell u this changed their life….like really or is it just some kind of a trend for rich white folks ??? I know whose lives it could change… i wish ppl cared about actually helping ppl who actually have low income obtain these but alot of ppl and low income neighborhoods don’t even know about this movement. Why are y’all not spreading awareness to the ppl who could actually benefit from these tiny homes

    • @ZeoCyberG
      @ZeoCyberG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a trend and lots of diversity of people. There's just not a magic solution for costs, but it's also not as simple as just the purchase price because you're actually going to spend a lot more over the years you live in a home. So a lot of people just focus on those long term costs as reducing them can save them up to multiple times what it cost to purchase the home from all the long term costs they would have otherwise had to pay... This is why most people who go tiny manage to be debt free in 10 years or less.
      So it's just something you need an actual plan and know what you're paying for will either pay for itself or specifically is there to meet your needs but you otherwise eliminate everything you don't need and only pay for what you need... Just owning the home isn't a solution by itself but it can be used like a tool to help you get there...

    These are a complete fail in all uses and forms, you can't use them in desert zones, flood zones, third world areas, unusable in mountain zones or beach areas, cold zones unusable, these float in flood zones and leak, they are energy wasters to hot zones, useless in storm zones, lighting zones, cost to build is double the cost of a normal home, these are not allowed in 90% of city housing zones, all this is a over-price mobile home that can't roll. The metal wall expand in heat causing window leaks, contracts in cold causing windows to crack and system to fail or freeze.

    • @ZeoCyberG
      @ZeoCyberG 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, untrue, you might want to do some research because that's a whole lot of FUD. Unless you don't do one properly, they're not different than any other metal structure built out to be a home and you can get a structural engineer to sign off on them to allow them in most places. Just difficult to get financing if there was never a previous housing project done with them in the area but after the first financing becomes available. They can cost more but more often they cost roughly the same and is more that people get disappointed that they don't cost less.
