    This tuner will only cover so much +/- with auto tune. Ride a tank out and plug it up and see how far off the fuel point are off. Rewrite the map. Now any point that were outside of auto tune may be within the tuning range. I have had mine since May 23 and have rewrote the map several times now and the bike runs it's ass off. No hard starts, popping or pinging. Awesome product

      Actually, the dielectric grease does go on the connector if it’s a friction type pin connection which it is so what you do is you put a little bit on each connector connect and reconnect 10 times that pushes the grease to the back and allows the friction, male and female to make contact

    Very good video and tuner. Will the bike run bad at first and gradually get better like the V&H FP3 Autotuner?

    • @ryantidwell19
      @ryantidwell19 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The thunder max is nothing like the FP3 but yes it will get better and after I say a few tanks of gas you write your learned adjustments under “map editing tab” on your laptop and it makes a huge difference. A lot of ppl miss this with the thunder max and give it bad reviews saying power vision is better but after a few times it’s damn near close if not on par with a dyno tune and you have no limitations with your upgrades! My TBR 2-1 had the torque dip everyone talks about and after the thunder max learned low end improved dramatically.

    • @martinXY
      @martinXY 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryantidwell19 Is the torque dip gone now, or just better than it was.

    • @ryantidwell19
      @ryantidwell19 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@martinXY no but it’s not gone due to it being a short pipe but the pipe is a lot throatier than the longer 2-1 and lighter than most 11 lbs vs most at 30 lbs but it’s definitely not an issue. At first it was a problem before the tuner did it’s thing because it would run about like a stock bike then gradually build to a hard pull after 3000 rpm but now it’s a strong pull from low end and gradually pulls through the RPM.

    Does it autowrite the map to the ECM? Or do you need to manually write over the "basemap?" with the new improved map you get when riding? To get a "new" more accurate baseline?

    • @johndarling2771
      @johndarling2771 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It auto tunes while riding, no more changing the base map unless you do other changes.

    • @tailgunnerdenis3331
      @tailgunnerdenis3331 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sorry but you are wrong. The base map will always only be the base map you installed!!! You absolutely MUST write the learned fuel off-sets from your riding to the loaded base map to built YOUR bike specific custom map. This ensures your bikes base map will always retain all your riding/map building history. P.s. you should also ALWAYS save the map afterward in the software file/folder system based on Date modified. This allows you to load the previously saved map should you ever experience a map corruption from a gremlin eg. loss of electrical power to ecm etc. Just some free words of advice. 😊 Enjoy…..Thundermax in all my builds…air/exhaust to full big bore/cams/heads……have fun.

      You can’t pull HP or TQ from this. That is done on a dyno.

    • @markgraves9429

      The unit lives on the bike. You hook your laptop up to the tuner and a chart will show you the points it has adjusted from the original map. At that point you just enter the updated map and the tuner will then auto tune the new map. Once you've done this a couple of times the tune is perfect and then it will adjust to weather, and altitude.
