What I got from the game: Messi: “didn’t do enough” and got double teamed in the 2H and lost the ball from behind leading to a goal but gave up many many chances. Semedo: played good most of the 1H and got schooled and played like garbage 2H Pique, Lenglet: Played pretty poorly all game Alba: helpful a few times down the side and technically had two assists but was poor defensively Suarez: good but had little to do besides the nice cutback goal Fati/Griezmann: Not much of a presence in the game Ter Stegen: One game that I can actually almost blame him for. Had minimum 4 poor passes straight to them but was bombarded by the poor team overall. Coutinho: 2g 1a after playing for minimal time and they give the #1 forward to Lewy lmao whatever. Didn’t celebrate either goal after being thrown in the lost and found by Barca. Bayern: Knew we would lose but the overall moral of the team and the defense being poor led to the slaughter.
Sorry, but Barca are past it now, and I include Messi in that. Roma put the cracks in the foundations. Liverpool (my team) dug the grave. Bayern finally buried them. Barcelona - and Spain at international level - are still not over the retirement of Xavi and Iniesta. Those two had a ridiculous work-rate, as well as being great creative players. Pressing the ball started from the front and made it easier for the defenders. Now, particularly at Barca, they're got lazy players who won't - or maybe, due to age, can't - do the work needed to keep opponents from beating their defence again and again. They need to accept that 2010 is a decade ago, the players who did that aren't around any more, and they've got to find a new way to play. Which I think is harder for Barcelona because some of the players are still around, but ten years older and less willing/able to do the work required. I hear that Koeman is one of the favourites to take over as Barcelona manager because "he knows how they play". He knows how they playED - but they can't do it that way any more without a huge overhaul and probably cracking some of the egos in the dressing room. Which means at least a few years of failure, and I don't know if Barcelona - management and fans - have the patience for that.

What I got from the game:
Messi: “didn’t do enough” and got double teamed in the 2H and lost the ball from behind leading to a goal but gave up many many chances.
Semedo: played good most of the 1H and got schooled and played like garbage 2H
Pique, Lenglet: Played pretty poorly all game
Alba: helpful a few times down the side and technically had two assists but was poor defensively
Suarez: good but had little to do besides the nice cutback goal
Fati/Griezmann: Not much of a presence in the game
Ter Stegen: One game that I can actually almost blame him for. Had minimum 4 poor passes straight to them but was bombarded by the poor team overall.
Coutinho: 2g 1a after playing for minimal time and they give the #1 forward to Lewy lmao whatever. Didn’t celebrate either goal after being thrown in the lost and found by Barca.
Bayern: Knew we would lose but the overall moral of the team and the defense being poor led to the slaughter.

His two goals and that sweet assist felt like poetic justice. Now Barca need to rebuild. But they won't. Tbh I agree Ronaldo's exit made them even more complacent however I think Spanish football has been going down that road for a while. Barca hasn't done anything in UCL for 5 years now, Atleti does well but still no luck, and RM are the only ones with success in UCL recently. The rest like Sevilla, Valencia, etc. do pretty well in Europa but that is a pretty decent gap in quality compared to Champions

Barcelona - and Spain at international level - are still not over the retirement of Xavi and Iniesta. Those two had a ridiculous work-rate, as well as being great creative players. Pressing the ball started from the front and made it easier for the defenders. Now, particularly at Barca, they're got lazy players who won't - or maybe, due to age, can't - do the work needed to keep opponents from beating their defence again and again. They need to accept that 2010 is a decade ago, the players who did that aren't around any more, and they've got to find a new way to play. Which I think is harder for Barcelona because some of the players are still around, but ten years older and less willing/able to do the work required.
I hear that Koeman is one of the favourites to take over as Barcelona manager because "he knows how they play". He knows how they playED - but they can't do it that way any more without a huge overhaul and probably cracking some of the egos in the dressing room. Which means at least a few years of failure, and I don't know if Barcelona - management and fans - have the patience for that.

Am I the only one who's sad Coutinho won't stay at Bayern? He was out of shape when he arrived, and Müller is in the best shape of his life. To be honest Messi needs to play more determined if they really wanted that win. If you saw 2nd leg Lyon against juve you saw ronaldo was the only one that was determined to win and scored 2 goals and nearly won the game, but no luck. You saw Messi vs Napoli. He was so determined. I hate to say it as a barça fan but our team is a waste especially the defence.
