Genius! I'm a beginner at needle felting. But semi invalid, too. Also essential tremer issues. I thought since I can't cope to do full projects, I should give my needlefelt stuff away. But faces I can do! I love this idea. Also, I've misplaced my safty eyes. So I'm doing various ways of making faces. I will use this for my no children projects. My granddaughter is also 8, but I choose to embroider faces on her toys just because it's completely safe. I'm going to this on a good no tremors day!

Cutting out the felt would be tons easier and precise using a Circuit. I don't think I can do the silhouette creating very well. I would end up with pieces half the size I need! I love thee needle felting idea!

Is there another way apart from changing colors for the face on chunky yarn?

You mean rather than using needle felting? You can try using color changes but I find this very difficult and tedious to be honest.
