    The problem is not the use of maths in Economics. The real problem is to use the right maths. For instance, linear regressions are cool to practice a bit of maths, but markets are all but linear. Actually, they have a lot of dispersion. Those who promote the excessive use of maths in Economics end up developing beautiful mathematical models that are usually useful only on the paper, but not in reality.

    @RLanham1963 the only comparison that needs to be carried out here is the one between the average TeD audience, made by easy inflammable enthusiasts prone to celebral orgasms for every trendy, allegedly new, cool-graphics slides-based explanation of problems which are usually much more complex than acknowledged in the process, and the average listener of iNet conferences, who does not find boring at all in-depth discussions like this one.     Funny to compare to a TeD talk. Boring...rather wordy...and very needy to categorize. Shows the weaknesses of current academia very well...but also important ideas.
