There have been a lot of drone incidents lately (Russians) and some people sees all drones as danger!!! And in the remote areas there often is a lot of small summer houses that tends to be burglarized by foreign people mostly from Eastern Europe so some people like this guy probably get nervous if that has happened a lot in the area and see a drone checking the area, that's of course as he sees it. So now we know that you weren't not welcome in the area, something triggered that man to follow, probably very uncommon so you was very unlucky!
It's sad to see this increasing in many countries across Europe. Yeah sometimes a series of events just give you a bad vibe. But don't worry a happy Sweden video coming up next 😊
Your reluctance to realizing flying a drone and sharing the footage without a permit might be a problem makes me reluctant to feel sympathy. There are many forrested areas that don't look like much to you but could be close to a military installation or something other sensitive. With Russians causing problems with drones recently you should be more careful, and look into local regulations.
Not everyone is happy about drones circulating, both for privacy reasons, but also because of the increased tensions in the world and foreign actors running them over prohibited areas. While no one is going to care in most cases, it's a good idea to make sure you have any necessary drone permits/licenses and make sure you are flying in an area that permits it in case you run into someone that will make a fuzz about it. You probably already have everything in order if you are youtubing drone content, but if you don't, it might be worth looking into in case you run into people who will challenge you on your drone footage.
Same problem in Norway, vans due driving in the countryside and steal things as well with foregein plates. Drive around in the small towns to find something to steal mostly Polish, Latvian etc.
I started following you guys a couple days ago and since I'm a Swede, I watched those episodes first, and now started from the first one published. You need a license to fly drones in Sweden plus it could be military installations there. The guy in the pickup could be police or military or a concerned citizen.
What a strange and sad experience from both ends. It’s so sad that people have to be so suspicious of others and I can totally see how both parties here would be scared to stop. As a vanlifer you’re warned about robberies on the road so I’d be scared to stop too. Or maybe head into the next big city to stop around other people. Still in this case that guy following you might have stopped doing so if he had seen that you were regular tourists. I’m glad the police were helpful for both parties and got everything straightened out.
Yeah the police were lovely, and we understand the reasoning behind it but as you say at the time we didn't have a clue what was going on and starting thinking of the worse !
Yeah shit like this happen, I've done plenty exploring in some rural parts and people out there are on the edge. Because people can have an entire kitchen lifted, like they come in take the fridge, washer, everything. It's been like this since the Berlin wall fell
Calls the police... says "we are driving in the forrest" While actually driving on a normal sized road. 😅 Swedens road system is mostly surrounded by forrests. 😂
I’m sorry for you both. I am Maltese too so I support you.I can understand you both being scared,at least police officer went to chat with him. So all this happened because of the drone. You we’re both unlucky in a way.Continue enjoying yourself and God bless you both❤️🌷

Around the areas where you have driven the last days, there are much farmers. Apperantly they have had huge problems with vans coming to steal the navigation equipment from tractors. They are worth between 10.000-100.000 Euro each. And the insurance companies are not happily paying for that. Sometimes it can't be proven that there has been thieves so farmers have to take precautions to investigate themselves. To get evidence. Maybe that is what happened?? MUCH LOVE TO YOU all 3 ❤❤❤
The stupid part about this is there is Google earth on the internet which shows every home, My home shot from Google earth shows my van, cars even the washing on the line. I always think if these people are worried about a camera is probably because they have something to hide. How many times have you seen people on TH-cam who walk up to a guy filming and then say "don't film me", Simple answer is then "Walk away". I guess we have to live in this world with people who are less worldly. Glad you guys are both safe, Thanks for sharing you did the right thing as we can all learn from this. 🙂
I can only apologize for the person that took it on himself to do this, there are unfortunately a few (I hope) like this person in Sweden. There have been theft of 4 wheelers, snowmobiles, boats and thieves stole a Yamaha 70hp outboard engine from me in my area this year but I would not for anything in the world behave like this.
At the time it was really weird for us because we had no idea what was going on. If we knew this was the reason we would have spoken to him to assure him we have nothing that is not ours... but hey glad it ended well 😊 Sad to hear that these things are happening frequently same in the UK a lot of personal item theft
You made the best decision...in Sicily i was blocked just before the highway & robbed unfortunately...at least he did not overtake you & blocked you from driving...always stay on the lookout since this can happen everywhere ...take care, stay safe !
Thanks Simon, wow this sounds super scary, hope it wasn't too bad in the end and they didn't take everything ? also curious where this happened in Sicily ?
Your wife is very brave and including you even doe it was false alarm still can never be to careful .. it’s good to show both the good and the bad have a safe travels
Wow, what an adventure. And good on you that you were so vigilant and noticed him. And also very good on you for telling us the story. I think you did the right thing when you phoned the police. Most people are all right when you speak to them I found, but amongst one million friendly people there is usually one nutter And sometimes somebody is unlucky enough to have dealings with that one person. And who knows what he would have done. I still remember one incident. It was the first weekend trip I planned for my wife and me to the most beautiful town called Dinkelsbühl in Franconia, Bavaria. My wife, being from the Bavarian speaking part of Bavaria had a lot of scepticisms and reservations towards the Francs, which I was wanting to change. When we arrived in Dinkelsbühl, just at the moment we got out of the car, the village mad man who had decided to hate all tourists waited for us and greated us with a bucket full of insults and nasty names. Nonetheless and in a way because of it, it was a memreable and wonderful weekend trip, as it was not only nice, as so many other later trips we did, but we also were able to tell an exciting story. If no harm is done, then these incidents are the stuff that make life exciting .
Exactly, at the end of the day sometimes these things happen and you just gotta handle them as best as you can. Glad that incident also didn't ruin your trip 😊
Hello and hope you will enjoy traveling in our country. It was sad that you met a somewhat suspicious person who pursued you. There are many break-ins in our country, especially at horse farms and other properties in the countryside. There are leagues from Lithuania and from various Eastern countries that systematically spoil like that.... that's why everyone is alert for foreign cars. Too bad you got them confused. Have a hopefully continued pleasant journey in our country/ Greetings from Lasse J, Halmstad
Sorry for your scare! I understand that you love to fly the drone. However, I also see this as such an invasion of privacy. I'm sure there's a way to enjoy flying your drone while also being considerate of others' privacy and comfort. Safe travels!
South of Sweden is not safe to van travel parking by the road. Many cases of robery from tourists that freecamp. Go to camping places, it is not expensive and you be safe. I do not know why but from midle of Sweden, Värmland and north it is a lot safer, same in Norway and Finland. When we had the covid-19 some types of robbery in Norway where I live, almost stop exsisting. The boarders where closed at time and when it was open it was good control of everyone passing in and out. It is well known that people from many eastern europe countries come to steal boat engines, GPS from expensive cars and also from machines, tools, snow blowers, el scooters/bikes etc. People are more suspicious than before and that is probebly what happend here. I would not have stopped to speak with this guy in this part of Sweden but if something similar happend up north I would have stopped and asked what the problem is.
Yeah we understand that this happens and is definitely keeping people on edge. Our issue here is that we had no idea what was going on... until the police intervened.
Hey C2H! Just when you think things are calm, lovely scenery, nature & forest etc - something like this happens! Well done for doing the right thing though - avoid direct confrontation as conversations can get heated, intentions misunderstood etc. Thankfully everyone is okay, but it WAS a scary moment for sure. Drive safe, stay safe & look out for each other (is a particularly relevant saying me thinks)!! N1S Kev x
It would be great if you could post a video what happened last week, since this footage is older, if not do not skip any places you go, since i'm a big fan of you guys now.
The regulations with drones in Sweden are quite harsh. You need to do the licensing and even if you did that you can't fly them over national parks and reserves due to the possible disturbance of birds and animal habitats. You should really check the laws before touring a new country. Also the tense situation with Sweden just entering Nato alliance. As swedes we have been told by authorities to be observant of drones and unusal incidents since several russian intrusions on Swedish air space. Also be mindful that Sweden is doing a major effort with our military capacity everywhere in the country. There is places that may seem like rural empty forest but can have a security zone due to the militarys training zones. We can no longer be the open trusty people we once were unfortunately and that reality has hit us hard the recent year or so. Crimes are skyrocketing and people are scared and it is so sad it have come to this. 😞 It takes a lot to make the swedes angry but when we feel attacked we can be a bit aggressive and suspicious i think 😕 Usually we apologize as soon as we see the real reason but tensions are high here as well as UK nowadays. Bless you and have a nice trip in scandinavia ❤🎉
It's fine. Just be more careful lock your door and windows keep your dog on a leash and pay attention and enjoy your time together. Stayed gased up also.
7-10+ years sweden was invaded by uk plated vans, caravans and trucks. The "I never do a bad roof job, cause i just take the money and leave"-people. Travellig roof and asphalt workers with a funny accent. Local facebook groups started everywhere to track uk/irish cars. It made people suspicious of not just olders rusty east european vans but also really nice looking new vans/caravans. :(
You acted right! Sorry that you had that scary moment! I hope that the rest of your journey will be nice and that you will have a good and pleasant time here in Sweden!
I feel so sorry for that experience! But you did the right thing.. and the police even wanted to check the other person to! Its this that every summer along our bigger roads, there is a few road robberys, especialy in the south! Soo.. as a Swede.. and what ever other tell you, the longer out in the countryside you get, the safer it is to camp alone.. becuse there is no other out there! Exept other campers and ocasionaly the local hillbiilys!
@@TravelTalesVlogs And then Norway, Sweden is flat, Norway is a lot of mountains/fjords! Be sure you have good brakes.. but dont use them that much.. use engin breaking downward and as lite break pedal as as posible! There is service centers in moste fjord valley that renovates tourist veichels brake system.. for those that survived the downhill journey!
Not a fun experience, at the moment. But as it turned out well and you look back: A scared guy chasing a scared couple, both calling the police at the same time. I sincerely hope the rest of your stay i sweden will be safe and joyful. As it mostly is.
I'm so sorry this happened to you but at least you've got the chance to make a scary tumbnail and juicy clickbates. That vid where you were treated like royals of two service companies and used the heading "I can't believe how they treated us." That's just cheap. As I understand it photos or videos taken by drone you can not publish without a permit. Please be a bit considerate towards people living in secluded areas. We are always on a watch for unknown people and cars.
Yeah we understand a little bit the thought process behind what happened now, although from our end we did nothing wrong so it was definitely a scary experience for nothing, but glad it ended well. Regarding the titles they are both representing the videos. We were followed... video about someone who followed us 40kms until police. Can't believe how they treated us... spoke in length and detail about the way we were treated and how unbelievable this was. Feel free to watch previous videos to see some service received in different countries for a higher price. Re thumbnails, TH-cam now uses a system called A/B testing so although we create a few photos it's the people that choose, so the photo you saw is most likely the one that people are clicking on the most and watching. Re drone yes some but not this one because its just our van, the road and trees.
, from your end, you did nothing wrong you say? Have you read up on the regulations around drone and drone footage in Sweden? Do you have a permit? After you have done all that... please let us know if you still believe you did not possibly do anything wrong.
Don't disturb him while driving when u guys are in emergency situation. You keep on asking him for something, you can do the calling without asking him what you will do. Gosh
You where extreme unlucky to meet this dude. Prob a older guy not undertanding what you did with the drone. The police also said they called the police on you since people are on alert right now. Never heard of this before. Also, sadly 95% of the home burglary are done by the polish or other people coming to sweden doin this.
Very unusual behaviour... Swedes normally are very reluctant when it comes to confront other people even when they think that they have done something wrong. But if I understood the police officer correctly the guy following you also had called the police. So I guess his plan was to follow you until the police arrived. He would never have followed you to Göteborg or even to Norway! As some people already mentioned there are som rather strict rules and laws when it comes to fly a drone in Sweden. One is that every aerial shot has to be checked by Lantmäteriet before it can be published online. There have been cases where YTers had to pay >1000€ fine as they did not comply to Swedish law. It might have been your drone or your behaviour in general as well as particular problems in this area that called the guys allert... but as mentioned before, very unusual behaviour. Hasn't happened to us in 25 years in Sweden. Safe trip!
Hi Guys It was certainly scary but one part of the story does not add up. If the male following you was so concerned about you, the question is why did he not contact the Police in the first instance and report what he had seen. The chances of persons committing burglaries in a Motor Home would be very remote due to the size of the vehicle and also low speed capability. From my previous experience and having dealt with similar challenging or confusing situations you did all the right things. I am glad that the Police were able to attend and assist you.Given the situation with Policing in this country at the moment I am not sure the response would have been similar! Had you reached the town and no Police response you could have found the local Police Station and sounded your horn until a response was received. All the very best and kind regards Crawford.
Hey Crawford thanks for your comment, indeed Tandy is not the best getaway vehicle. I have no idea what was the reasoning behind it but all I can say is that the police were great and I think handled it pretty well. At that stage we were just so happy that it was a "misunderstanding" and not someone following us with any other intent
In north of Sweden you will not find a police unless near the cities and if you want to catch a thief your only chance is follow them at a safe distant and try find out where they went.Like the place i live in the police station is in best cases manned Thursdays only but we relay on ppls good will and our neighbours.South of Sweden is like another planet to me but in the north if sonebody follows you its probably because you fogot close any hatch or your wallet or phone and trying to give it to you before you disappear because everybody helps each other out in the bush
The sketchy part of this story is: If what the pick-up truck driver said is true, why did he not call the police himself? I call BS on this one (his story).
You been around alot so i understand how you thought but if you lived here i bet you would not feel someone following a bit like a problem. For us a forreign registrated van or something in an area of summerhouses in some cases means you will be about to loose yout ATW and engine to your boat that guy following you was as paranoid as yourselves and called the police to check you out and you doing the same because he was following you is really funny😂😂😂 to me a camper would be just a tourist its more likely a van of somekind be used by criminals you can easily put stuff like boat engines into a camper so i dont know why he was suspecting you guys 😂
Yeah it was really scary at the time, later on felt weird and now we look back and also can understand that from the outside in it is indeed a funny situation 🙂 It's a real shame that this is happening a lot, always sad to see 😑
Well, if this was rural Sweden...and they had been hit by thieves several times before. Then I really dont think they needed to be "paranoid". Didn't the police say that the guy in the pickup truck called them as well? The sad truth is that Sweden has been plauged by a lot of criminal gangs that come from other contries. It´s not easy to get help from the police if you live in the contryside...just as the police said. It takes them a long time to drive there, and the thieves know this. And as a friendly reminder so you dont get in to trobule. Sweden has some pretty strange rules regarding drones and what you are allowed to publish online. A lot of footage needs to be "reviewed" by "Lantmäteriet" to get clearence.
Not a pleasant experience being followed. But from the drone footage I saw, you did not invade anyone’s privacy by overflying your van in a forest. Still, not nice being followed. And glad that it all ended well. Take care.
Hey Terence, crazy at the time yeah was pretty scary but looking back now we can understand what happened and put some sense to it at least. And at the end like you say, nothing happened and it ended well, hopefully no speeding tickets !
Oh my god, how weird some people can be. I am glad that you called the police I was beginning to panic for you. I have never known that. Hope you are ok, not funny at the time. Please take care of yourselves, hope Holly is ok too ❤❤❤ X X X
Im Swedish single woman vanlifer. It was in day time, so I would just stop and ask as you came out of the forest. This was ridiculous. He was just thinking you did something malice and you are still going on the rant about a crazy man. 😂 Click bait and a waste of police time.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. You write this comment after watching the whole story. Even I could say the same now that I know what it was all about. If someone is following you and you have no idea why, I suggest to follow that policeman's advice and don't take any risks. Also video title is.. We were followed, and the video is about... someone following us. Can't get much more accurate than that 🤷🏼♂️
You need a permit to be allowed to fly a drone with a camera. It is considered to be equal to putting up a private surveillance camera, for which you need a licence.
No, there is a license to fly drones in some cases, but if it's a sub 250 gram drone you don't need any licence or permit. But in Sweden you need to get a permit to publish dronefotage. You have to send the fotage to the authoroties for review before you can publish them. (But almost no one does, and I haven't heard of anyone getting in trouble for it as long as it's not from any restricted area like the military installations, airports, the parliament, the kings castle etc). If the drone weights more than 250 grams, you need like a driverslicence for drones, easy to make the exam over internet and is just about common sense when operating the drone. The licence is valid in Europe through EASA.
Sorry to read this 😮 you did the right thing not confronting the situation as it may has inflamed the tensions! Loving your videos we are off up for my 60th early September.

N1S Kev x
Thanks Kev, it was surely a scary experience but as soon as we spoke to the police we were so relieved !
It would be great if you could post a video what happened last week, since this footage is older, if not do not skip any places you go, since i'm a big fan of you guys now.
Hey thank you ❤️ we went to this lovely campsite after. Video coming up next 🙂
So sorry for you ❤️🚍❤
All is good now 🙏 Thank you !
It takes a lot to make the swedes angry but when we feel attacked we can be a bit aggressive and suspicious i think 😕 Usually we apologize as soon as we see the real reason but tensions are high here as well as UK nowadays.
Yeah a lot of people mentioned about this in the comments, really sad to hear this ! Obviously this video is just what happened from our perspective
When you go north of Gävle , it will be much more quiet, and no more snakes.
What do you mean "no more snakes"? They thrive here in the Sundsvall area, though not quite that frequent as was shown from the south.
Thank you - we say goodbye to the snakes and hello to the bears 😊
To be clear, there are still snakes in the north, just fewer of them.
You acted right! Sorry that you had that scary moment! I hope that the rest of your journey will be nice and that you will have a good and pleasant time here in Sweden!
Thank you so much ❤️
I feel so sorry for that experience!
Thanks so much for your comment and tips 😊
Yeah exactly ! Looking back it seems funny but was definitely scary at the time. Thank you for your good wishes ❤️
Yes it waa truly a weird experience but glad it ended well 🙏
I've never heard about someone doing this, I understand that its scary, sincerely hope it doesn't leave a sour note to what Sweden has to offer.
Thank you ❤️
Very unusual behaviour...
Safe trip!
Thank you and yes it was very weird we were clueless until we spoke to the police. Glad it ended well 🙏
Hi Guys It was certainly scary but one part of the story does not add up.
@@TravelTalesVlogs Thank you
In north of Sweden you will not find a police unless near the cities and if you want to catch a thief your only chance is follow them at a safe distant and try find out where they went.Like the place i live in the police station is in best cases manned Thursdays only but we relay on ppls good will and our neighbours.South of Sweden is like another planet to me but in the north if sonebody follows you its probably because you fogot close any hatch or your wallet or phone and trying to give it to you before you disappear because everybody helps each other out in the bush
Seems like the police did a great job by intercepting both vehicles and resolving it.
Absolutely !

The sketchy part of this story is: If what the pick-up truck driver said is true, why did he not call the police himself? I call BS on this one (his story).
The police told us that he also called them, not sure at what point he made the call but that's what they said so I think it's true
Wow that's pretty sad situation, I guess in the remote areas around the big cities it is worse 😑
I hate drones .......people want there privacy !
There are also people who have secret identity because of some person that want's to hurt them !
Oh my god, how weird some people can be.
I am glad that you called the police I was beginning to panic for you.
I have never known that.
Hope you are ok, not funny at the time.
Please take care of yourselves, hope Holly is ok too
❤❤❤ X X X
Thank you Susan much appreciated. We are fine now, and look forward to continue exploring Scandinavia 😊
@@TravelTalesVlogs thank you for your text
Im Swedish single woman vanlifer. It was in day time, so I would just stop and ask as you came out of the forest.
This was ridiculous. He was just thinking you did something malice and you are still going on the rant about a crazy man. 😂 Click bait and a waste of police time.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. You write this comment after watching the whole story. Even I could say the same now that I know what it was all about. If someone is following you and you have no idea why, I suggest to follow that policeman's advice and don't take any risks.
Also video title is.. We were followed, and the video is about... someone following us. Can't get much more accurate than that 🤷🏼♂️
😂😂😂😂
Stop beeing so paranoid.
Calling the police in Sweden is like calling Santa Claus and hope he shows up. Sadly.
We must have been extremely lucky then !

Sorry to read this 😮 you did the right thing not confronting the situation as it may has inflamed the tensions! Loving your videos we are off up for my 60th early September.
