- Journey to the Château, Ep. 257 - In this Friday episode, Patrick and Stuart are doing all of the final preparations for their upcoming big event. This weekend is a Chateau Owner's Weekend at Château de Colombe. They create another batch of their custom fragrance candles, and then along with some of their own preserves, they put together some beautiful swag gift bags for their guests. They also get the chateau prepared with cleaning and hanging of additional paintings all over the chateau.

Patrick and Stuart…it always amazes me how there are those who think they need to make, which I feel, silly comments. When you were putting the “goody bags” together, I was a little envious because they weee getting a jar of your jam. Stuart…I absolutely love the layout of the miniatures. You've both taken such care to present the chateau in the most pleasant way and I think everyone is going to have an absolutely wonderful stay, right down to the flannel sheets! I saw that you'd made a little change to the bedding in that room. It must be difficult to have so many critics! You were both very generous to call the remarks "caring" - including my own remark!! I confess! It's good to be reminded to be gentle and kind although shouldn't be necessary. You're both quite a bit more able than I am, in any direction you care to move, so sincere apologies. Always love the excitement of the chateau and the way you present your activities. It's not easy to make things so interesting. I hope that both of you can relax and enjoy your weekend. My gosh, I would never doubt what you guys have to do to endure such a different house, a chateau with thick cement walls...obviously you know what you have to do and what will work! I find what you're doing to this gem you're living in, so interesting and marvel at your creativity. The candle making has brought back memories of my husband who made candles for family and friends. Greetings from South Africa. I should share with you that when I met my husband and went to stay at his farm it was freezing. To my delight, my bed was like toast. My future mil had put a brick in the oven of the wood stove, wrapped in in flannel and put it in my bed. Once I was in I simply removed it and slept like a log since the temperature stayed constant.

Had to hit pause after listening to you explain, yet again, how cold the chateau can be, Ash's sensitivity to cold. and not having enough flannel bedding in stock for 14 people. Have a feeling that if you list your bed sizes, your fans will stock you up with very nice flannel bedding. Just throwing that idea out there because I immediately wanted to get you some. Ok. I love making (and receiving) goody bags, especially when the giver has gone to so much trouble, and there are goodies that are useful and tasty! Hand made is always best. And isn’t it fun when you finally get to hang and place all your treasures after moving? Clearly we never had as much as you, but we did move a bit, so making a place our own meant we were ‘home’, wherever that was at the time. They look great.
