I have an Am Standard and a Pro-Tone, Strats of course. I also have a few other guitars but I will say without hesitation that my Pro-Tone would be the last guitar I'd ever sell. IMO, the stock pups sounded too thin so I replaced them with Vintage 62 RI's and love everything about it. The Am Standard is great. I just enjoy the PT more. It sounds better so maybe that's why. I have Texas Specials in the American Strat ,and for my tastes, it takes too much fiddling and tweaking to get the sound I want. The PT is far more forgiving. It plays wonderfully and sounds great no matter how I have it set up.
People who say EMG's are sterile have no idea what they're talking about. Played a set for years, absolutely loved it and pretty much noiseless. They have a higher 'fidelity' than normal pickups. More highs, more lows, and just clearer in some ways... Love them. 👏👏
The USA Deluxe model is a lovely guitar. However, the Squire Pro Tone is a great guitar. A few savvy mods - if felt necessary, personally I don't think it's necessary, but would bring it up to much the same specs without the same outlay. My opinion? Both lovely, but the Squire is more value for money. Btw....wish I could make either of them sound as great as you did! Good review mate👍xx
Searc for the Kinman tone mod on YT. I've tried other treble bleed circuits and the Kinman delivered. I highly recommend it. I use a .033uF Chicklet cap. It's still bright but very ballsey when I need it. A word about the cheap Chicklets: Caps are almost a religion to some so do what you want, but I tried them all and the last one was a green Chicklet .033. from China, and to my ears they sound the same as the tropical fish, bumblebee, Russian PiO, and orange drops. I tried them all and the cheap Chicklets are in all my guitars, along with the Kinman.
@@Lamvesp it is. I've recently acquired the Pro Tone in that exact color and its slim neck combined with the chimy single coils is a blast to play, both on clean and on distortion
Be fair. It's an incredibly difficult word to spell, especially when the image of headstock with the correct spelling is next to the writing added to the thumbnail image.
This USA Deluxe is amazing but it showed me how good my Squire Pro Tone is.... What is your thoughts?
Swap the electronics,, let's really find out 😉😉
I second lamby's idea 😉

yeah so far I am loving them...also thanks for your help with identifying the guitar :)
I feel like you might be able to replace "EMG" for "Fishman" in the same sentence these days, but I wouldn't actually know.
I'm surprised how much I like the EMGs on that Fender.
yeah they are real nice I cant wait to play around more with em
I love my Pro Tone. I only just keep my MIA Fender Stratocaster
Very interesting mate and goes along with what you've always said about not having to over spend
your Fender Deluxe is beautiful ... can't wait to let it rip !
Great vid, thanks. What would happen if you just swapped the loaded pickguards? I'd love to see & HEAR that! PLEASE!

yeah that's my thoughts too...The USA will of course have a good resale value
Hi Brent
I too have an Squier Protone. I love it.. One question -What kind of capacitor do you have in yours?
Best regards Michael

And of course USA strat blown away pro tone ;) !!! However, pro tone is good guitar in it's own class.
Well put emg’s in the protone
I own both. The US is a little better but it doesn't blow the PT away, not after swapping the pups. I use 62 reissues in the PT and love it.
I especially like howw the Pro Tone is available in basically the exact same color as this Deluxe.
My pro tone is in the same colour scheme as the deluxe sapphire blue I think they call.
@@Lamvesp Sapphire Blue Transparent, yes. With the same golden hardware and everything.
@@JeanMarceaux That's the one. Such a nice playing guitar that I ended neglecting my 1964 Gibson SG junior for it.

Pro Tone sounds more vintage sound.
Lord, I wish you guys would learn how to spell Squier.

@@asw7696 You're right. I was being unfair. It's nearly as difficult to spell as Fendre.
