    The Lexus LX470 hold on to its value tighter and depreciates slower because it has that UN looks. The the ultimate vehicle for the United Nations. It's the ultimate escape vehicle for peace keepers when the peace deal goes bad. The Lexus LX570 looks like a blown-up Toyota Highlander of the same era. The LX470 looks unique and manly.

    The 470 definitely has a more classic and elegant look to me. The 570 looks like a big highlander. The better stereo and lack of aux input on the 470 is truly one of the only things making me look harder at the 570. The lack of removable rear seats is a big detractor.

    Nice video. Just a comment...My family has two 80 series and three 100 series LX/LCs. Two with over 400k miles and four over 350k miles. The timing belt maintenance work and the fear of not having it done at 90k mile intervals is waaaaay overblown. The belts rarely rarely ever break and the water pumps rarely go out. I have replaced one water pump in 11 LX/LCs in 24 years. The fear about this issue has really caused a unwarranted commotion within the 100 series community. The 100 series Land Cruisers and LX470s have to be the best vehicles man has ever made.

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I know of one person who didn't do the TB and at 156k miles... belt went and she kept driving. $5500 in engine repair.
      So I agree that depending on driving conditions, 90k is on the side of caution. Maybe every 120k. And its truly a 650$ repair if done at reputable Toyo mechanic and not 1400$ at dealer.

    • @richienell
      @richienell 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CruisingTheLand Agree...$650 and no dealers. With the above said.....I am more cautious with the VVTI interference engines when deciding when to do timing belt work.

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can always delete the AHC, and go after market 2-3" lift..

    • @marcelosanchez4897
      @marcelosanchez4897 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been thinking about that a lot, but still not quite sure to do it. AHC is what kinda gives the originality to old Lexus’s, and I’m not sure if it’s going to lose market value, given that the car is becoming a classic in a few years.

    Holy Land Cruisers! :) You obviously know your LCs! Can you offer an opinion on travel trailer towing (max weight) with a 2005 LX built as an Overlander with AHC delete and OME fixed suspension (2.5" lift) with heavy coils in the rear (which I understand adds an additional 400lb capacity to GVWR) and the proper hitch not the through the bumper hitch (6500lbs tow capacity)? What is the towing capacity without the AHC? I have alot of added weight (probably almost 1k lbs) with Overlanding mods but these trucks are known to be well-engineered, overbuilt in fact and capable of towing more than the lawyers allow them to indicate in North America. Apparently a Hensley hitch will also increase load pulling capability. Very interested in your thoughts. Private message perhaps? This question arose when considering your point of comparison with the fixed suspension LC200's much greater tow capacity. Cheers

    I bought an '06 LX 470 back in November and I couldn't be happier. Already looking to purchase another cruiser this year, but I don't know where to start. Perhaps your love for all things land cruiser won't allow you to give your honest opinion, but how would you rank your preference between the 100 series lc/470 and the 200 series/570? Also, when it comes to the 200/570, which years would you recommend I look at first between them?

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are right, it is tough...
      Depends your goals... overlanding, the 200 has KDSS, crawl control, and 100+ more HP.
      The LX570, same engine, but even with the AHC up, the LC200 have better approach angle on obstacles. Plus KDSS... the LC you can do a simple lift in the front, which I outline in my video called , Poor Man's lift.
      The older the 200, the cheaper of course.For instance,.my.wolifes 570 is a 2008. Has 215k miles drives like new. I like the style of the 2016 and up, but can't justify selling mine and spending 3x more to get a newer lower miles, but has same engine, suspension, etc...

      I assume you are referring to a 2008-10 LX570 and a 2006-07 LX470
      So, let's just say a clean, rust free with less than 360k kilometers (200k miles)
      LX470 - 16-20k
      LX570 - 20 -27k
      If they were Landcruisers, same years add about 2-4k
      Funny thing is, Lexus is about 7-10k more new, but after 10 years, the LC is worth more... just the look and heritage/reputation.
      If you go newer LX (2013-15 and 2016+) the price jumps quite bit.
      If you go older than the 2006 (vvti 275hp engine) to a 1998-2002 LX470 you can get to the 8k-12k range and 2003-2005 when they did the new dash and went to 5spd transmission (vs 4spd with OD) it is 12k-17k.
      Great trucks and can go to 1 million kms when maintained right.

    I actually really like the updated 2014 LX570 wheels on this 470. If you own the black 470, is it possible to do a bit deeper explanation on that? What other Lexus wheel sets would fit the 470? • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2014 LX wheels really look great on the LX470. So wheels that are 5 x150 bolt pattern will work. However the LX470 (100 series) has a floating front hub, so you will need to get spacers. Not ebay or Amazon spacers, they will not fit. They will say its for your LX, but don't waste your time with those... you have to get the Spidertrax spacers. Sold by Slee in CO. You only need the spidertrax in the front, the rear can take those Ebay ones...

      Hey Jimmy, Landcruiser is definitely the brand and been around over 50 years... but...
      The LX450 apart from.different badging, had wood trim...
      The LX470, yes has AHC, but that can be deleted and the 2006 and 2007 about 70% came with the same AHC... and they are still Landcruisers. They are ALL made in the Japan. I have driven both and owned both. Yes I prefer the LC head lights and less trim (not fond of the cladding) but it is same drivetrain, frame, body etc... so its a rebadged Landcruiser.
      On the 200 version 570, I prefer the LC KDSS system vs having AHC, but I do have both. Yes the LC has better approach angle etc... and you can tow more with a non AHC. I agree that the GX is not a Landcruiser, thats a glorified 4Runner... but try not to be a hater on the Landcruiser's step brother... he is the same blood and is family.

      @@CruisingTheLandGreat question. I prefer to get the last 1-2 years due to lower mileage. I like to buy my vehicles with less than 50,000 miles so that I know maintenance was not skipped. All I have to track is did it get oil changes regularly and I am then good to go.

    great video, I would have touched on the 5 speed vs the 6 speed in the 570. MPG difference and the need for premium or not.

      True, 570 got the 6 speed...

      @@CruisingTheLand wow! Thanks for the quick response. I'm trying to find which is the "best year" for the 200 series...leaning towards a 13/14. Any advice? I'm aggressively shopping. Ty

      @@GameOver321 I do like the 2016 styling... but that 6 speed is a little faster 0-60 (not that we race our 200s).. I have a 2008 LC and LX.

      @@CruisingTheLand definitely no racing. I prefer the look and price (lol) of the 15 and older. These have definitely gone up in value. Yes, I've been watching your videos.
