    I remember this was the normal route for the #5 train departing/arriving from 241 St/WPR before 1965. I never understood till this day why the switch of Bronx terminals happen between 241 Street and Dyre Avenue even though the 5 trains still operates on the WPR line during am and pm rush hours!

      To be consistent, they don’t want to have too many trains going to one place, yeah maybe in your day, 5 trains did go to Wakefield as the last stop, but sometimes they would showcase it, and then send it straight to the yard from Nereid Avenue since it has straight access to there, other times they would send it to Wakefield so that it would be sent back down as a 2 train for the later trips

      @@BigManTransitEnthusiast you're probably right. I was told years ago there are space limitations where only a certain amount of trains could operate in and out of both terminals. It's the same space limitations issue with Flatbush Avenue terminal in Brooklyn.
