This was one of my grandads favorite songs. He sang it a few days before he suddenly passed. I go to his final resting place every year on his birthday and sing this.... its a beautiful song. Ill see you again someday Papaw.
Happy Christmas to all who read my comment. Now let’s all enjoy this music and look back on this year with fond memories and enjoy a parting glass as a new year rolls on.
Wherever you are. Wherever you come from. Wherever you do and whatever you've done. A belated Merry Christmas. I hope that the New Year is good to you all. Raise a glass to the jolly bard and part this year the way you want to start the new.
I've wanted this ever since I discovered Seth, and it's all I dreamed it would be! This was my Da's favorite song, and in his will he requested that I sing it for his eulogy. Miss you, Da.
If I made a Halo TV show, songs like this would 100% feature in it between ODST’s, remembering a Buddy, Squadmate, Brother in Arms. Also, I want this to be played at my funeral.

Absolutely brilliant rendition, mate. I’ve always loved the bittersweet poetry of this song, but your upbeat reimagining had me singing in the car by the end. Fine work, and merry Christmas.

One of my favorite Irish folk songs a bitter sweet tune of an old working fellow near his end. Such beautiful and simple words. You really bring it alive as a somber celebration Beautiful just amazing
I have heard many a version of this song out and about, but this must be the most beautiful one I have heard so far. Wish I had lads like you to sing with... All the best wishes from Germany.
To you, my love, who died too soon two years ago today… to you, my uncle, whom I pray did have no chance to suffer or be scared… you are Ireland’s son and never got to walk upon nor see her land; you didn’t have a chance to do so many things, yet your favorite niece will make it there someday with a piece of you in her whole yet broken heart… you were so proud to be her son. You never missed a chance to live in the day, in the moment, for the now… you ate all the treats and you spent all the cards; you bought me a souvenir cup in your posterity, as well… I know that you didn’t miss out on much, as you lived all the life, but I wish you hadn’t had to miss out on this, nor Ireland, nor my future novel on her history, nor my future husband, children, and made family, whoever they may be… you would accept and love them too, no matter how or who or what they were. I have always tried to live like that, and since that time, I’ve spent more time indulging instead of waiting for a perfect time; the perfect time is now-buckle up, eat that cookie, spend that money (in good company), drink that special drink, and make today a life worth living, a day worth missing, a heart worth hurting when you’re gone… grief means that you didn’t live in vain-and these days, these moments, these little treats, they all add up to why… I’ll try to remember that. Good night and joy be to you, Uncle Walt- May the road rise up to meet you; may the wind be always at your back; May the sun shine warm upon your face; May the rain fall soft upon your fields; and until we meet again, may God keep you in the palm of his hand… I love you, and I miss you, and I’ll see you in awhile. I fill this one to you tonight (but it’s probably going to be LiveWire instead as I have to work come tomorrow)…
Would you consider doing 'Lies An Lurighan?' Its an old Scottish sea shanty that is about a brave captain navigating a terrible storm. The title phrase can mean either 'with Lurighan' or 'On The Lurighan' so there is some debate to whether Lurighan is the name of the captain or the ship. Either way its an epic song.

I’m sorry for your pain… I’m thinking of my grandpa too😭😭😭 and my uncle and my other. 2021 took three of the best men-three of the warmest and three of my favorites-completely unexpectedly… I never imagined how hard this would be… my grandpa was like a second dad to me as I don’t have that relationship with my own father (tho he is around). Nobody cares because I’m not his “real” daughter so I got brushed under the rug a lot, and minimized and called selfish for feeling in their presence. Not a single card or flower for me while the others were showered and showered. Not many sympathies. I hope your experience was not such. Your grief is real and valid… and important. Especially as I was just gifted one of my Grandpa’s favorite ties for Christmas… 💜💜💜 I’m sure your grandpa is so proud of you… hugs💜💜💜
