Three timesave comments: Time should probably be set to when you close the gold cube thingy at the end, because don't you lose control at that point? Opening the box to get the shovel in Flies is definitely pointless. That item does nothing. In face painting, I'm pretty sure single stripes will suffice. Down the middle, across the eyes, and along the edges. Also, if you're really having trouble remembering codes, like Locusts music sequence or Darkness horoscopes, write them down! Use shorthand if you want, but there's no use fiddling around in a speedrun because you forgot something. (A quick glance at speedrun.com shows that you never bothered to improve this time, and neither did anyone else. I've never done a speedrun, but I might feel I have to, now.)
I did end up doing a speedrun of this, which wasn't as good as this one at all. Especially backing out of animations is something I wouldn't have thought of, and it clearly saved time when you skipped talking to the soul, although it's not clear when exactly it actually helped. I guess that's a habit you get into when you run point-and-click games. But I do have a couple more optimizations aside from the ones I listed above (Flies no box puzzle, quick paint). -The Gnats/Lice puzzle box is obviously not optimized, you can actually do it in a very convenient sequence by moving the tiles diagonally, alternating vertical and horizontal movement. -The owl fill meter thingies in Blood and Flies can be done most quickly by raising the wings once, then using all the items on the closed opening and grabbing the key without lowering them again. I don't think backing out helps there. -Fuck the hermit crab. Seriously. Hopefully if someone combines what I did well with what you did well, they can do better than either of us.
