Don't forget to watch my other videos regarding the Epson ET-8550. th-cam.com/play/PLo219FKz6e4ruHw9B09PcWSGFp4EReB48.html I like this printer a lot. It's not perfect in every aspect, but I'd give it 9.8 points out of 10. I can so far only say that if I had to buy a new printer today, I'd buy this one without blinking an eye or hesitate a split second.
im glad i came across this video. The only thing i wanted to know is if, by any chance, i can make the finish on the CD glossier, rather than matte like you displayed on your video. is it possible by any chance?
To be honest, I don't know. The only way I can think of is by using a transparent sticky vinyl layer. I have such vinyl, it came with the labels I used in this test print. There are also CDs with printable surface, I don't know how glossy they are. Maybe there are glossy labels available also, after all, this label is actually sticky photo paper in the shape of a CD, so maybe glossy type exists also.
Thank you for your comment. No, I have not tried on PVC. I don't think these inks are good for that, and I will keep using my printer with the Epson original inks.
I am sorry, I can't recommend any other printer than my own, and that costs more than 300€. The reson is that I am not a printer tester, I paid full price for this printer and have no budget to buy a bunch of printers. Printer manufacturer are not sending me printers to test free of charge.
No. If you look at a CD/DVD you can see that the edges are always blank, not printed on. That is always the case even for factory made CD/DVD. If you want, you can print borderless on CD/DVD labels, but then you need to use a different software which lets you select different label type paper and you select the label type of your favourite. The CD printer of the ET8550 is intended for printing directly on CD/DVD. The drawback is that you need to use special CD/DVD with a printable surface. If you don't have those you can mount the label on the CD/DVD and insert it into the CD tray and fool the printer to believe you have a printable CD, but in that case the printer handles it as a CD/DVD, not as a paper, so it will not print borderless.
@@AdaptingCamera I appreciate the response. Yes makes complete sense and I see the CDs I ordered are printable so this will happen to them. Thanks for the video

What is the printing time to print a cd? Does it have best quality or speed quality ? Ty
As you can see here: th-cam.com/video/BpKQgSCPNAk/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=544 it takes about one minute give or take a few seconds.
What do you recommend to print CD and photography? Low budget printer max 300€

can you remove the white border?

Can we print ID card with any available ID card holder?
Sorry, I have no idea. Never printed an ID card....
Is this the same process with the epson 8500?
The printers are identical except for the maximum paper size, so the process should be the same.
