This is by far the most asked question we get! I have owned 29rs, 27.5, and mullet set up. Road/fire road riding the 29r takes the cake. 27.5 is definitely more control and better with downhill flow. Preference? Either works just fine!
I used to ride 29ers only, from XC to long suspension trail bikes. But on my CUBE SL, 27.5 is all I need with 170/160mm travel. I may venture on getting a smaller width rear tire at 2.4 just so I can whip the rear a bit better. For my terrain and how I ride, I definitely need at least a 2.5 width tire in the front, whether it's a 29 or 27.5.
The one thing you forgot to add was bottom bracket heights. with the weight of the bike my levo def sits much lower so pedal strikes are much more common.
I currently ride 27.5 on my regular MTB. I am shopping for an emtb. I have narrowed it down to 4 bikes. Cube, Trek Rail 5, Specialized Levo and last Fezzari Wire Peak for it's flip chip capability to switch from 27.5 to 29. I am leaning towards the Cube because of the Bosch motor. My question is if I bought the Cube would I be able to also switch between 27.5 and 29 sets?
imagine if you are starting out in golf and need a golf set you can grow into and stay with for many years. Do you want the golf pro to give you more options and let you decide or do you want their 35 years of experience to just tell you want you should buy? I hate advice that just gives you more things to think of.
I'm hoping to get the new cube stereo 160 sl this week that's on the 27.5 wheels just come from a giant fathom E 2 on 29s do hoping the 27.5s will be good
It lowered my bottom bracket on my levo. Something to consider with the weight.. it is more nimbal in corners but squeezing between rocks and what not can be hectic. Lots of pedal strikes lol.
Sound off! You riding 29" or 27.5" wheels?

Max Shenk couldn’t agree more! If you’re just a guy out there trying to ride, either are perfectly fine!
I’m riding 29” but I also commute on my eMTB but recently got on some 27.5” on the trails and OMG
It's a tough choice!
I prefer the more nimble feel of a 27.5!
And I know you're crushing it on those 27.5s!

Hector Salcedo I definitely agree on at least 2.5. Really opens up what you can do.
Great explanation. I need more stability so I think I'm going for a 27.5....just looking at 2021 bikes now..!
Giff Miff thanks for watching! 27.5s are great for that, so I can tell you watched closely! Give us a call if you want to speak to a pro
Great infromation. I will ride either depending on the the situation.
Thanks Cameron! Yes, I definitely agree that it totally depends on situation. Always good to keep both around if you can!

Iv been thinking of putting a 27.5 on my trek rail. What are your thoughts?
27.5 on the rear and keep the 29 on front

29” front and 28” back
I think 29 is bigger than 27.5, That’s my conclusion...
This is true!
