I am glad you are calling these scammers out. I only buy seeds from certain places and you are one.
The candy cane is a beautiful plant. I laughed so hard when you showed the so called Pepper X looks like my habanero plant 😂
My so called pepper x are identical to yours Shawn .when I asked the seller about them they blocked me 😅
Probably the same seller. Unscrupulous and unethical.
What if the seller is actually Ed Currie, but he forgot to include the synthetic capsaicin he injects his pods with. Lol
But everyone knows ed will not sell the peppers or seeds. How is anyone fooled?
@@Justmebeingme37 ed cannot sell seeds for something that does not exist, that is the point 😅
I know that eBay seller.. idiots
The pod variety on that Big Mustard Momma reminds me of a 7 Pot plant my neighbour gave me. He brought the seeds back from one of his relatives in Trinidad.
The fruit came in looking like Moruga, Bhut Jolokia, Carolina Reaper, and others were like a wrinkly equilateral triangle, all on the same plant.
Keep growing!! ❤ love to your channel💪
I just got back from a grocery store that had a bunch of super fresh Hatch green chilies and they were roasting them to order. I picked up a case of the x-hot variety (they are about as hot as a Fresno or jalapeno, maybe) and can't wait to dig into them later.
Sounds like my kind of store! Doubt we would see something like that here in the UK
The red tiger looks stunning! The candy cane type of plants (variegated) are all very pretty. And lol at not having any labels 🤪
At least your "Pepper X" pods look nice. I hope September will be warm and you get nice harvest.
Small pot but it looks really good! Delicious super hot pepper!
The candy cane looks absolutely fantastic, the leaves, size , pods. I will be ordering som of those soon for next year.
Might come up with a one off special sauce from them.
I have some candy cane chocolate cherries and they are good. Sweet peppers. The color change it goes through from white to stripes to red is crazy.
I'm looking forward to the Warthog seed to be released. I watched a video earlier, and they were saying maybe next year.
At least your plants has a resemblance of a hot pepper, I got bell peppers advertised as pepper X on eBay!
Yeah there are plenty of crooked scammers out there intentionally mislabeling their seeds. I remember the very first season I grew peppers, I was on a super strict budget so I was looking for the cheapest seed deals I could find on eBay for certain type of super hot peppers, and I remember I got ripped off by a couple different sellers when I was trying to get Trinidad moruga scorpion seeds as well as Carolina reaper seeds, and the alleged scorpion seeds turned out to put out yellow Scotch bonnets, and the alleged reaper seeds turned out to be all red Thai pepper. The only two varieties that turned out to be what they were supposed to was chocolate Bhutlah which I got those seeds from someone who grew them themselves so it seemed like a trusted source and it panned out to be what it was supposed to be, and of course a red ghost pepper plant but I bought that from Home Depot so it was no surprise that it turned out to be correct as well, and of course I grew orange habaneros which came from seeds I pulled out of a pepper I got from the grocery store.
I will never buy seeds from anybody unless they are recognized by the chili Community as a reputable source because of what I went through the first season. Ain't nothing like spending all the money and the time raising and growing plants only to find out you aren't getting the peppers you wanted in the end all because some idiot wanted to make a couple dollars on some mislabeled seeds off of you. Even just a mere 10 seeds can cost nearly $100 in retail in supplies and electricity and water bills to raise those plants from seed to harvest not to mention the countless hours and months of maintenance. Shame on those people.
The pepper X sellers: Dont come at me with facts, i got my own opinion of it! Shaun is like: Nope!
Grew a bunch of the candy canes last year... A decent sweet pepper that look amazing canned.
I bought seeds from Red Dragon this year, they've done awesome! Fantastic company to deal with, they have some really hard to find seeds too... AND I got a free gift as well as a pouch with so many seeds that are random and could be between 20 plants. Highly recommend!
Glad to hear you say that, I brought seeds from them this year for the first time. Couldn’t find any info about them online, so just been hoping for best. They do some amazingly beautiful varieties 🥰
The red tiger plants look exactly like my pink tiger plants, identical
I don't know how you manage so many plants, they look so healthy. Rather surprised at the size of the pots you use, mine are all in 20L or larger pots. What brand of compost do you use? I'm not at all happy with this latest generation of peat-free compost, which seems to have a lot of 'composted' waste material in it, I even had a wooden plank in one bag that I bought this year.
All hail the ChilliChump algorithm!
My big mama mustard from red dragon are tiny like your big mama red's and mine are ripening red where yours are ripening orange 😂
Sorry if I'm mistaken @chillichump, but it seems you have a thrips invasion in your greenhouse?
Worse....aphids! It's been a hell of a year for them.
How long will your plants go on in the greenhouses Shawn? Hearing you so optimistic about things ripening is making me very sad to look at my outdoor chillies that look like they're yellowing off for the Autumn already 😢
If we get lucky and have a mild Sept/Oct then I will give them until the end of November before clearing out. This year has been a weird one!
@@ChilliChumpdefinitely a weird season - everything seems so very late and I'd be interested to know if others have had issues. I've big plants (fertilised appropriately) with loads of flowers, lots of smaller pods but this time last year my freezer was already full and dehydrator on twice a week. It's the same with the tomatoes. Hoping that - as you say - Sept/Oct will make amends!
Red Tiger ripens to red/black
I've been trying to grow some Kashmiri chilis for more than 6 months now in Bangladesh and some of them have started flowering. Would love to hear your opinion on Kashmiri chilis as I've not seen many useful tips or guide about it.
I grow loads of them. Brilliant chillies for flavour. Important to start with good quality seeds. I sell them in my store...I think I have stock at the moment, otherwise will be back in about a month.
What are you scanning to identify the plants, please?
It's an app I developed called SeedsIO. Free for the public to use SeedsIO.com

Nice peach habs. ..
Where can i find seed pricing in US dollars?
They look like Ghost peppers! ✌
Hi Shaun, how is the ripening of your chillis in general (especially the more general varieties)? Are you finding they are turning red? Mine are all staying green and stuck in a very slow growing phase. It just doesn't seem to get hot enough in my greenhouse, I've largely closed all the vents and windows. Is there still hope for me, and I stick with it, or should I resign that nothing will ripen? Any tips to try to say give things a boost?
e.g. Lots of flowers on super chilli but very slow growing on ones that have appeared. Cayenne, flowers only just starting to appear, peppadew is like that first pepper x the signs of where flowers will appear is the stage its at.
Heat doesn't really help them ripen. Some varieties just take a while. Most superhots will take about a month after becoming mature before they ripen fully.
No real tricks to make them ripen quicker unfortunately.
@@ChilliChump Ok fair enough, a waiting game. Is there a correlation between a variable I can control and speed of getting pods to become fully mature in size?
@AM4N18 just about keeping the well watered and well fed, with a lot of light and warmth. I find they ripen a little quicker as the temperatures drop...which is a natural process, end of the he season (autumn)
@@ChilliChump OK thanks, I think I'm on the right track then but will stick at it and hopefully will get something by the end!
It seems crazy that no one is talking about about the Warthog pepper by Mathew in the comments.
I bought some seeds claiming to be pepper X last year, and they are coming through now with fruits, after a very slow start. They just don't look like the ones I have seen grown in videos online, really not sure of the genetics, whether legit or not! They are fairly large, very deep green colour, like a bell pepper,! Having watched the video I suspect I got my seeds from the same place as one or two are yellow on my plants. Ah well. I've been mugged!!!
@@BalearicBeatnik you won’t ever have pepper x seeds because ed currie has never released any. Nobody apart from him has the seeds so any you see advertised online will be other varieties
@@michaelbalabanoff9441 yeh am new to the chilli game and I’ve learned a
Lesson here. Damn.
Ovah hheeeer we hava… 🎉
Habanero X!!!
shit yeah looking noice.
My plants have gone mental, had to restake a lot of them due to their size
anyone else out there buy "Pepper X Seeds" from Chilli Kings apparently based in Kent? I am after a refund, but there aren't any contact details, email, phone, or otherwise, on their website!
That's who I bought from. I wouldn't hold your breath for getting any real resolution there unfortunately.
@@ChilliChump interesting. I'm spreading the message they are bunk, got a large audience on a certain business related website, so I've posted there anyway, in order to spread the message. VERY disappointing for a noob grower like me, the effort of raising seeds all through the winter, getting them thru the bad weather this summer, ah well!..... anyway, happier note, this is the first summer ive had a good amount of chillis, 2nd season growing - love your channel mate, a source of inspiration to me!!! All my chillis are grown outdoors, and from peeps ive spoken to, ive done well!
@BalearicBeatnik feel free to send over some photos of your grow, love to check it out! Https://chillichump.com/contact
@@ChilliChump amazing, I will send some pics asap!
Your pepper x look like habenaros lol
I'm wondering why you suspect Pepper X might not exist, or maybe you are just saying you don't know if it does or doesn't. It would surprise me if that guy didn't have some pepper he was referring to as Pepper X. Certainly having the seeds etc. on lockdown means no one can test the plant. But I understand why he would lock down the seeds/plants.
No doubt there is something called pepper x. It's the issue around the claims being made about it. And the history of the person making the claims.
i love Ed's reasoning for not releasing Pepper X, that they barely made money from the Carolina Reaper and now everybody is selling Reaper seeds
yeah Ed you barely made any money from it man, i mean not only did you get boatloads of publicity from the Guinness World Record which allowed you to go on dozens of news stations nationwide promoting your company, not only did you get an exclusive deal with Hot Ones to promote your brand and create new Last Dab sauces, not only did you get to sponsor so fucking many Reaper eating competitions, not only did you become a household name, you /barely/ made any money from it 🙄🙄
Why did you doubt that Ed has the Pepper X?
He literally presented it.. people saw it, ate it.. and it was tested.
Do you think Ed would lie? He created the Reaper. He has his pepper company.
He would risk all that to lie about Pepper X?
Unethical companies that need to be called out, i.e. Puckerbutt.
Why are they unethical?
@@grimfist79 Putting out hot sauces that claim to be made with 99% Pepper X, but the hot sauce only tests at 60k SHU is false advertising, and highly unethical. And Ed, renaming the 7 Pot Primo, trademarking it, and claiming he invented it, for starters. Also, constantly submitting unstable F1 crosses for capsaicinoid content testing until one finally breaks the record, then claiming it’s the super secret Pepper X he’s been working on for years, doesn’t necessarily make you unethical, but it certainly makes you dishonest at best.
@@kjc3693 ok, gotcha...i don't really know much about that dude so you make fair points if thats true.
For a moment I thought you were calling out Ed as unethical!! It wouldn’t be the first time this week….loving the pepper drama 🤓
He is though, isn't he?
My 'white moruga' and 'white fatali' from red dragon are nothing like they should be. Nicely marketed and packaged but definitely giving them a miss from reddragon next year. Waste of time
ive had what looks like red habanero and other random chilli from "reaper" seeds purchased from them. Starting to think all my peppers this year are basically fake!!!
Call them out by name or what is the point..
