    For the 50 cent pieces, the composition changed from sterling silver to 80% silver in 1920, not 1936. Make sure you don't pay extra for the 1921-1936 thinking they're sterling :)

    The bobcat quarters are either 80% or 50% they changed it half way through the year because the price of silver was up and weight is the same so the only way to tell is if you cut it in half and get it tested so it’s better to say 50% to be safe

    Question for you. A silver half dollar is suppose to be 11.66 grams I got a few that are 11.80 is it normal that some a a little over weight?

    • @NorthCentralCoins
      @NorthCentralCoins  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a little strange I don't usually go as far to weigh all my half dollars but if it's only slightly under it could have been exposed to extreme heat or cold for a long period of time which can cause weight variations

      @@NorthCentralCoins I found it odd . I buy my junk silver from ebay only because i can't see people taking the time to counterfeit it. But the ones that are a little over are in AU condition. They might of been minted a little over. I was watching a video of the maple leaf rounds where the guy was unsure if they were real because some were a couple points over , but come to think of it when i weighed my old rounds some were on and some were a little over. So much counterfeit shit out there you really got to watch what your buying.

      @@martinstreasurehunting I got 40 of the1967 quarters for an amazing price on ebay. I was weighing them because the Mint on the website says the 50% weighs 5.05 grams and the 80% wieghs 5.83. DUDE! You are getting ripped of at $270-$300 a roll of quarters. Do not pay even close to that amount. A roll of quarters is worth only $189.60, the fact that they are charging a $100 premium on those rolls is insanely outrageous. Don't pay more than $5.10/quarter is my advice.

    I believe the bobcat quarter is 50 or 80%... dealers use the average 65% (Mackerel dimes are the same).... There were alot more .500 made than .800 so as a rule I just call them all 50% Unless you pull it straight from a proof set. Happy Stackin eh!
