It's a joke
I’m losing my mind at how he didn’t even notice that he CP’d himself.
I had to replay it just to make I didn't miss an edit because I could not believe how nonchalant Carl was about it the first time.
Yeah, he was extra stupid in this episode.
@@skunkybudtoker9092 Blind, the euphemism is blind!
I missed it too. I was looking at the video while doing something else when I heard the second checkpoint and I thought it was just a bug. When he took the checkpoint again, I had like a weird feeling... Like a deja vu. I think I understand why Carl missed it
@Skunky Budtoker but how do you go lower than the bottom? •.•
carlBlind is an emote for a reason
it's amazing how curious carl manage to hit every troll in the level, and late carl come and help hit the rest.
Ashamaxa he actually may have missed one, at the first checkpoint. There could have been a troll from hitting the on/off block, then returning to the checkpoint room and going through the key door. Carl didn’t try that.
they are a dynamic duo
LOL, then he hit the trolls, again, and again, and again. . .
Ashamaxa dies for the “lulz”
CuCarl.
The reaction Carl gave at 21:15, apologizing for his stupid. was so sincere it hurt
it hurt me that he had to apologize. it's ok to be a little dummy sometimes
Anyone think he knowingly plays dumb cause he thinks it's funny? It seems pretty obvious it's just a ruse to appease his audience.
Calvin Morrow no.
@@lessThanEighteven a lot of dummy is ok
Wait, what happened at around 11:35 - he started from the CP, went into a pipe on the left and went out from a pipe above the CP again. That did not happen before...
Edit: ok, Carlblind
@Nathan Peterson YES BECAUSE HE EDITED THE MESSAGFE AND SAID OK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When he was in that pit bouncing with the fire flower under there is CP 2 but u cant see it cuz of the screen scroll. (He blew up the blocks above the door at CP 2 and inside 1 of them there was a spring he was jumping on that doesnt spawn cuz the blocks have not blown up yet when u spawn at CP 2 so it cant spawn. )

That's oddly encouraging

After working in a lab and realizing how everything you're learning can save lives and change the world: A+s

We have vastly different definitions for "scraping by", but I'll admit I like the idea of proper motivation waiting just around the corner
@@CarlSagan42 hi ArlSagan42
As a teacher I can say that education is a fluid system, and despite how it may look like things don't change, the way we teach is constantly changing.
We are taught that every student is unique and to teach them individually. I have a class of 25 students and they are all different learners so I teach them in several different ways.
We are given a tool bag of teaching strategies and we use it everyday.
@@korysturgess6623 But the problem comes when the students themselves don't want to do the work, right? Then they lie to people who'll believe everything they say, go to the school system, & make it look like you're failing them, rather than it being the other way around.

The question is whether or not the two rumors are connected.
If math has taught me anything I can pass standardized tests without learning anything.
That's because tests don't teach you they just confirm you know how to study
I passed at a trigonometry level even though I never got through algebra lol they told me I should take trig when I went to college dropped that class the first day
It's intentional. Not tragic but true
I actually like standardized tests. And if you actually learn the stuff then you can pass them without working too hard -- it's just that most students haven't ever really tried that because a semester long trying to actually learn things sounds daunting and they'd rather play videogames.

I recently found Carl’s channel and I think that it’s really cool how he can act like a kid sometimes when he’s playing Mario maker, and then talk to us about the coronavirus and what he thinks about it and what’s being done to find a cure. I’ve only watched a few of your videos, but I’ll continue to watch more, I’m subscribed, thanks for the awesome content Carl, keep it up!
I like what you said about teaching people individually. I know everyone learns individually, I work in retail at the moment and I have a high school diploma. There are many things that I have to know and show to people that may not be there a week later, however its hopeful that there is a skill that carries over. I love teaching what I know for that reason

Carl, I agree with your education rant 100%. I did terrible in school/college, but I'm very successful in my career field through my own studying.
woah how long has it been since this was streamed? cause i thought this was already a video.
I'm just shocked at myself for remembering it poorly. That was such a great stream, i love the cp2 into cp1. I looked away from the screen when it happened cause i also thought nothing about it. It's so genius with the timing
Nice education talk at the end. I'm in training to become a technology teacher (high school likely) and completely agree. There are tons of methods that we are now taught, but the system, materials, and often senior teachers are resistant to new methods that focus on student growth and learning rather than the testing system. It's a hard balance too since teachers are often scored by how their students perform on exams rather than how much meaningful learning takes place.
Okay, cultural difference here so correct be if I'm wrong
Is "technology" referred to like IT/programming or is it science of materials/physics/engineering?
If it is the first one, why would you ever do that? Like, you could get paid 2 times more working on anything computer-related and it would much likely be 10 times less stressful!
@@geli95us It's a pretty mixed bag. I specialize in computer assisted design, fabrication, electronics/robotics, and design (video, graphic, document). Pretty much any career and technical education class that isn't agriculture or health. I definitely could work elsewhere (my major pretty much is qualification for engineering firms), but I want to teach, at least for a while. The USA really needs trained tech educators (most are lateral entry), so I want to do what I can.
@@syber-space yeah, but I feel like 1 trained teacher isn't really going to change anything, I'd rather save myself than go do down with the ship, but hey, surely you're doing a favor to the kids that get you as a teacher, at least
Hey Carl! From the Education Rant: I am in my mid 40s and learned math stuff the old fashioned way. I always thought math was easy, so kinda breezed through it. Later on, I realized that I had started estimating what I think the answer was then let my brain catch up (mostly) before I said what I thought the answer was. Then, when I was helping my kids with elementary math homework, I discovered that they are taught almost exactly my internal method of addition and subtraction! I had always heard from others that Common Core was a dumb way to learn, but it turned out to be the way that I actually think! Makes me wish I'd been taught Common Core in the 80s...
I thought for a second I saw naked men on the first one and I got scared

Hello Carl, I hope you can see this comment. I’ve always defended the theory that you can only state that you understand something if you can explain it in a level that relates to the person who you’re explaining it to. I’ve even used the video where you talked about allergies as an example, as I finally understand through a 2 minutes talk something multiple science classes failed to. I am talking about that because I feel that a major education issue right now is that most topics at school are usually presented like they appeared in thin air, so kids learn it to pass a test because they have absolutely no idea of what’s the point in learning that. Interest in learning comes from the knowledge that you are receiving has a purpose that you can relate to.
11:30 I love how Larl here didn't notice the cp1.
I just got there and I'm going "wait, what?" And Carl's just not reacting and the fact that he apparently didn't notice for a while is killing me

I was crying laughing whenever you went into the Pipe with the P-switch on PLEASE CARL NEVER CHANGE
Serious recommendation, if you're doing crazy well on testing (34/36 on the ACT) but having trouble in classes, consider checking out getting a GED. If you apply to a college, tech school, apprenticeship, w/e and explain that you don't do well with static learning I'm sure you can find somewhere that works for you.
I always love Carl rants at the end of videos :)
Those last 7-8 minutes are speaking directly to my soul
15:33 His smile and enthusiasm. Gone.
hi! I don't think the point of the ACT and SAT standardized tests is primarily to determine what someone has learned. I think they are intended to gauge the individual's fitness and likelihood for success in college. For example, the math sections on either will have very little if any geometry (my understanding is that it's typically a 10th grade subject). Colleges with higher score requirements tend to have classes that are taught to a higher median student, and the requirements can reduce the dropout rates.
I only took the ACT once in 10th grade, and I got a good enough score to not need to take it again. I didn't even sign up for the pre-SAT, which is the first hurdle to National Merit Scholar. Luckily, my counselor said "F that", paid $8, and signed me up, because it's like the best academic award a guy can claim :) I didn't need it, though, because college was paid for by the ACT in 10th grade.
21:17 that was the most genuine apology I've ever heard 🥺
Thanks for the great video Carl, it's a lot of fun to watch you get trolled whilst I eat breakfast.

On the topic of the education rant stuff. It is true that struggeling at school does not mean that you will struggle at work. Those are two differint worlds. I actually envy those of you who struggled at school but turned out to be good at real life. I was always getting top grades in school with almost no real effort, but now I really struggle at real life. Working the jobs my education qualifies me for gives me anxiety, and I feel like I should be able to do alot better all the time...
4:48You can prob cheese that key door if you go into red pipe, hit switch, go back and switch should be on another setting, so it’ll make it so platforms to key door work. It’s probably leading nowhere, but small chance it’s some kinda of cheese

"[School] doesn't resemble the real world in a lot of ways."
You know who makes the worst programmers? CS majors. Only kind of joking.
I don't think CS is of the worse grades, you can pretty much code any code that's a real case use from the comfort of your house, the only thing you lack of the full pack are the jerk coworkers and the useless boss, compared with that, there are grades that teach you nothing but theory of the work you will be doing in the future
Good name
I've actually heard that some employers prefer non-CS majors because of how CS is taught; they'd rather teach you themselves rather than retrain you after getting your degree.
Can confirm that its a much better foundation to learn CS formally before you start your career. Get an internship asap and learn practical application on the job. We dont skip design, planning, and architectural analysis when we build a building. We shouldn't skip those steps in software engineering either.
By FAR the best engineers ive worked have a 4 year degree in cs or cis
I think it's just because programming requires logic and the CS course only teaches theoretical aspects of the subject not practical and don't provide them with good logical thinking about programming
2:19 gotta love the editor

2:20 best editing I've seen on yt in a while
Hahaha Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. It's a good meme
Don't feel bad, Carl. I totally missed you CP1-ing yourself too.
With the whole school thing, I'm about to be headed into college soon, and I'm terrified of starting online due to the pandemic. I've always performed at a pretty decent level in all my classes throughout high school, but I've done a few online classes before, and reading, and paying attention to stuff with nobody there to guide, or instruct just completely kills my ability to learn sometimes. Like, sometimes I'll get stuck on a question I thought of, unable to get a good answer from my resources, and contacting instructors is just inconvenient, so I end up not getting an answer, and not learning anything. Also, reading through material just doesn't give me any information, while a person listing off the same stuff gets through perfectly, and I think it's because I'm able to toss out small simple questions on a whim, that when answered always end up giving me a better understanding, even if it was a stupid question..
Now, while our education system is absolutely total garbo rn, I'm lead to believe that if that guy got a 34 on his ACT, he isn't failing his classes out of failure to learn the material. Now that may very well be the case, I don't know this person, but I'd be willing to bet he didn't do any of the work, and that's why he's failing the classes. And work ethic is 500% something colleges/employers want to know about an aspiring student/employee.
Doing homework is not the same thing as having a work ethic. It's not the same thing as many desirable job traits, in fact. I published 10 scientific papers throughout grad school and couldn't be damned to do my homework a few years prior. Finding someone who's the right fit for the job is going to go way further than finding the person who got the best grades.
Source: I trained about 20 undergrad interns, and found little correlation between their success in the lab and their prior grades.
Carl is great, thanks for quality steamed content!
I love the sprite limit trolls, truly unpredictable in a well made setup
26:04 I feel like online classes/classes on computers kind of remedy that problem, because they do their work in a setting that somewhat resembles what the job is actually like.

The social part of school is probably ruining someones schoollife, but it is definitly saving mine. Being home and doing my tasks is so exhausting Annoying friends at my school or playing cards in the middle of the class is so much better and helps me learning the stuff.
That last bit was awesome. I'm a transgender horomantic lesbian with autism, ADD, and executive dysfunction and school just doesnt click for me. It was really assuring to hear a scientist say this, instead of just other students.
I feel guilty from saying this about a pandemic, but I love quarantine school far better than irl school.
