One of my favorite blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments in the ogre attack is that when the ogre grabs Atreus, it's immediately going to bite his little head off. Kratos doesn't think, doesn't pause, just acts on instinct and shoves his entire arm in that thing's mouth to keep him from harm. When I first played this game, I really didn't notice how the ogre was immediately going to kill Atreus if Kratos didn't step in, I just wondered why he didn't just smack it with his axe.
1:54:24 - Fun little easter egg: When Kratos says "A narrow path negates superior numbers" he knows from experience. He's referencing the 'Battle of Thermopylae' (The subject of the movie '300') where the besieged Spartan army funneled the Persians into Thermopylae pass and negated the benefit of superior numbers through a volumetric bottleneck.
Excited monkey noises* Just finished writing a huuuuge assignment. This replenished my energy. Thanks for all the good shit since the elden ring. It was worth every second, sticking on here for so long. Toodles, video time.
For future reference, for any kind of ancient (soul eater etc) no damage or stun can be done except to the open weak point on its chest when it attacks, as well as by throwing the orbs it drops. It’s pretty much a patience game as you have to wait for it to attack in order to do anything. Also, you can get some extra hits on its weak point when it’s stunned before pressing R3, which can speed up the fight a bit.
45:09 "You didn't hurt your back, did you?" GoW: Ragnarok was delayed because Christopher Judge had to have back surgery, knee surgery, and both hips replaced. And then rehab. During that time he was unable to record the dialogue or perform the mocap. I've done a bit of searching, and haven't been able to learn _why_ he needed such extensive surgeries. But they're all load-bearing joints.
Watching this episode after beating Ragnarök is such a trip; there are so many things said (little throw-away exchanges that you would never think mean anything) that end up being HUGE plot points in the sequel. Much of the things you see, and subplots end up taking on a completely new meaning in the context of Ragnarök's story. It's insane man I can't wait for you to play it and think back to what you did in this episode and have some of these revelations that we all did. You have NO IDEA how far this story goes, so much left to witness and uncover.
The story and character moments in this game still hit me after all these years and so many times playing and seeing people play this game. Absolute masterpiece of media in general
I've got a special meal for today's episode. Meatballs made from scratch by my Great Aunt. A family recipe crafted by the old hands, our ancestors who immigrated from Italy. The meatballs are easy enough to make but that red gravy... You could put that shit in a cup and I'd drink it. Oh man, speaking of chicken wraps my dude, do you remember the Premium McWraps McDonald's had in like 2011? They were SO good. I don't know if you noticed it but the "God of War Logo" or the Omega symbol is on Kratos' back. It's what holds the axe.
If I can give one advice about the side missions for the future will be that if the game gives you the oportunity to do a side quest you should do it. There are two big reasons for this: 1) The story of the side missions adds a lot more drama that will pay off in the future of the main story, but that's not the only and main reason for doing them before continuing the main path, but sometimes when you keep going through the story and then you come back to do earliest missions, you will notice inconsistances character and story wise because those missions were made to be completed before that moment of the story. 2) The other reason is because of the RPG elements of this game. What I mean when you advance through the game without doing certain mission, when you come back to do it, the prize will not be as big because they were meant to be for the beggining of the game. Fod example the dragon one, It's not so much of a big deal righ now but it will be cool to completed before the other quest coming at the future. Both of those points were actually fixed in GOW Ragnarok, so for that playthrough it'll be ok. In my opinion, I like the format of a video with more story mode focus and a little of side quest and then a video with more side quest focus and a little of story.
I love this series from the bottom of my heart and it fills me with joy to see that you are loving it too🔥. Btw if you love GoW you gotta play Asuras Wrath its so cool
52:59 An interesting thing to note is that, in the God of War 2018 Novel, Kratos states that this was an incredibly strong or the strongest force of magic he’s felt
I'm deeply introverted person and closed off... this line hits like a truck. - do not mistake my silence for lack of grief! - mourn how you wish, - leave me to my own. So many times in my life people told me that I'm cold, intimidating and distanced because I don't show much emotions and I'm very reserved...
Alfheim is almost entirely unknown. The two things we do know is that elves live there, and the light elves are known to be luminous. GOW writers took this and made a beautiful, luminous land.
bro, i've watch this without even realize this part is 2 and a half hours, insane. will definitely looking forward for the next one. thanks for showing us the gameplay, idk how many times i've watch GOW walkthrough/gameplay it's always bring me joy, knowing that i can only watch other people play the game, man i really wish i can play the game on my own someday :)). but yeah, thanks Mati!! 🔥🙌, will definitely look for the next part!! big ups!
Actually insane, Atreus casually kills like 100 elves. Dude doesn't even seem injured, just sick (because he used his god powers and is mentally conflicted of course).
YES A MILLION TIMES TO THE P.O. BOX. Mati - ".... God of War, is now a horror game." Me - **Knowing what's about to happen** 😬😬 Also PLEASE keep every episode this long. Probably my favorite series EVER so far. These videos make me so freaking happy. You have NO IDEA the incredible journey you're about to go on with Kratos and Atreus. It's pure perfection.
Hell Jeah, looking forward to the vid! Just wanted to say as well, I've been watching your channel since Elden Ring/Bloodborne and you've inspired me to try and some Let's Plays of my own. Only got one video uploaded so far, but I plan on doing many more. So in short, I appreciate you and keep up the great work Mati
A little combat tip with the ancients/soul eaters is that if you hit them in the stomach during when you could grab them you will tons of extra damage and then go for the grab before he gets
Fun fact: at 2:00:35 when Atreus pulls Kratos out of the light, in the GoW book the boy actually says " You could have told me the axe only returns to you!". He killed all those elves, without the axe return to his hand man!
Mati please remember you can press L1+O to heal yourself assuming you have the talisman that heals equipped. It refreshes too so it can be helpful in a sticky situation. Just haven’t seen you use it once since the beginning
Get your popcorn it's time to live laugh love
GOD OF BOY!!!!!

Ohhhh so the line'em up and knock'em dead
A good mix of side quests and main story is the way to go. This game is so damn good!
Man... Seeing this game again reminds me how much i love these characters, especially Brok and the Witch. Trust me, they're REALLY gonna grow on you.
I realized 1 hour in that I still have 1,5 hours left. Best part of my day so far
Fun fact: if you’re ever low on health or rage go to one of the fast travel doors, open it then close it and it refills your health and rage to max
Brok is a homie! I love his character so much.
Lets gooo. Come on everyone, Mati just dropped a new God Of «Boy» video!❤️
I think you mean God of MOVIE. =D
Excited monkey noises*
Just finished writing a huuuuge assignment. This replenished my energy.
Thanks for all the good shit since the elden ring. It was worth every second, sticking on here for so long. Toodles, video time.
ah yes, i love the 2h+ episodes and it goes by so fast

I just found your channel a few weeks ago and me and my friend have been binging your videos man the long videos are a blessing 🙏
The story and character moments in this game still hit me after all these years and so many times playing and seeing people play this game. Absolute masterpiece of media in general
My favorite thing on TH-cam right now. ❤ been following since God of War 1 I love this series.
Dude when I first got to Alfheim in my first playthrough that was jaw dropping for me such a cool area!
Pain. Lots of feels in this episode, and that priceless jump scare at the end! Long or short episodes, they're all golden to us..
I've got a special meal for today's episode. Meatballs made from scratch by my Great Aunt. A family recipe crafted by the old hands, our ancestors who immigrated from Italy. The meatballs are easy enough to make but that red gravy... You could put that shit in a cup and I'd drink it.

Holy crap a 2.5 hour episode is just maybe what I needed
2:27:48 He left the controller 🤣🤣 man you're awesome, don't forget you can use your xp to upgrade your runick attacks
Now THIS is a movie we wanted. Maybe start uploading longer videos from now on Mati?😅😅😅
Mati the God of War, Lord of Cinder, Chosen Undead, Good Hunter, Elden Lord and the Goat!
Let's not forget the Slayer of Demons, Bearer of the Curse, and the White Wolf!
I love this longer video. It's such an engrossing game that I really think it's fitting. Thanks for the upload!

Just in time to go back to work ❤. Thanks for the uploads, Matiii! Keep up the good work
1:29:30 Quick tip, the beam from the ancients can be blocked with your shield. Easier than dodging.

Hell Jeah, looking forward to the vid! Just wanted to say as well, I've been watching your channel since Elden Ring/Bloodborne and you've inspired me to try and some Let's Plays of my own. Only got one video uploaded so far, but I plan on doing many more. So in short, I appreciate you and keep up the great work Mati
enough video for tuesday too!!! thank you Mati!!
A little combat tip with the ancients/soul eaters is that if you hit them in the stomach during when you could grab them you will tons of extra damage and then go for the grab before he gets
Kratos will say nicer things to atraus when he asks how he is doing in combat the more you use him in combat
2:30 hours?!?! Mati you're amazing dude
I might be a souls boy through and through, but damn this is quickly becoming my favorite series from ya!
OH HELL YEAH!! Bro now that realm travel is unlocked, it's really gonna get nuts!!
Definitely can't wait to see if you 100% this game. Every side quest is important and every detail plays a part in the story. Definitely worth doing
Love the vids Mati and I’m finally first

Going through a shit load of abdominal pain and acid reflux.
So a nice two and a half hours is so welcomed
Just when I thought today will be a video free Monday Mati delivers! Let's dive into that. ❤ Worth the pain 😉
Loving the moments when this game puts Mati on the edge, I live for the reactions! XD
Ignores every light runic atack and tried to punch a elemental after knowing the weakness ah yes classic mati
Fun fact: at 2:00:35 when Atreus pulls Kratos out of the light, in the GoW book the boy actually says " You could have told me the axe only returns to you!".
He killed all those elves, without the axe return to his hand man!
We love Crispy chicken wrap too, great video Papa Kratos 👏🏼
1:24:27 Damn, you punched that dark elf out of the realm.
Keep it up Mati, we are counting the days for next episodes!
Mati please remember you can press L1+O to heal yourself assuming you have the talisman that heals equipped. It refreshes too so it can be helpful in a sticky situation. Just haven’t seen you use it once since the beginning
