"Every programmer" is a stretch. More like people who don't know how to write a line of code were telling everyone it will replace software devs.

Cognition AI realized it had screwed up with its bombastic claim and started toning itself down. Also, around the same time, AutoCodeRover (an open-source project in the same dev automation space) started showing better results than Devin, so it looks like the company's gone dark while it attempts either to fix the bugs that it has or pivot to a tool below their initial promises. That last part is pure speculation, though.

If you're curious about Devin AI's likelihood of becoming usable, literally just sit down for an hour and architect it out. What all does Devin need access to? How does it decide what to do? Run through the entire software workflow that Devin would have to go through in order to ship usable code.
Seriously. Do this. The guys making Devin aren't any smarter than you (the reader of this comment) are. They don't have access to some secret AI tools.

I got access to it the pricing is kind of crazy it's 50$ for this:
      Plans
      Personal (Devin Lite)
      Active
      $50 /
      month
Access to Devin Lite, subject to usage constraints, which includes all core capabilities of Devin
Devin independently plans, iterates and fixes mistakes to complete engineering tasks
Devin is equipped with common developer tools including the shell, code editor, and browser within a sandboxed compute environment
Devin reports on its progress in real time, accepts feedback, and works together with you through design choices as needed
Devin learns your codebase over time
During your first month you'll receive 25 Agent Compute Units (ACUs) that can be used across unlimited Devin sessions (Learn more)
As Devin is an early product, usage limits and pricing terms are subject to change
You will receive 10-days notice prior to auto-renewal detailing any changes.
You will have the option to purchase additional ACUs as needed

Subscribed! I think that AI is over hyped it will get better but the marketing of it has been misleading at best. It takes vast amounts of processing resources and data to train, yet while trying to make it profitable business model is big challenge.

All LLM's as is "Devin", clearly miss at this point basic logical reasoning. Language inference and prediction != (Is not😉) the same as logic! Yes it can mimic.. but still this is not logical reasoning and LLM's can dream up results just the same... Because programming is mostly a logical process, every LLM WILL NOT OUTCOMPETE A DEVELOPER, LET ALONE SENIOR DEVELOPER IN PRETTY MUCH EVERY LANGUAGE.. Sure it can spit out snippets and rehash certain stack overflow or public repo code ...but still..not the same!

    • @AshesWake-sf7uw
      @AshesWake-sf7uw 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

Well they are not making the LLM, it's literally a Chatgpt wrapper 😂😂
So, it's not even like they could hyper optimize it beyond Chatgpt's limit. Which currently depends on OpenAi and not Devin lmao. So, they are literally dependent on another company to accomplish every task 🤡

When VCs start throwing money on a niche it create a pressure for any smart developer steal from the stealers. Devin was a scam to the greedy VC that hoping to turn their 12M into 12B got scammed by a hype product.

its working just fine, learning 24 hrs... practicing. Wait for the year end, and it would have gained 50 yrs work experience. Ready to replace literally everyone in the tech industry, software guys, product guys, marketing,... just branding, legal, business and sales teams will sustain. maybe 1 data science "operator" at max, in each of these AI run companies.
    AI has exponential growth rate...

@@MelkeyDev for real, probably in phases over 2 years. It will be theoritically ready by the year end. If you see it from the perspective that these teams exist as and for the "expression" of business team. you can understand who all are in waters. The more expressive the tools become, the less dependence on the human help to do the same.
On the positive side, many of these layoffs will become business owners starting up digital and non digital SMEs. basically next up is SME revolution, "if government didn't neuter the AI" before the techfall
