Thank you for your videos featuring the English (and English-style) side-by-side game gun. My interest in shooting began in early adulthood with ubiquitous Browning and Beretta under/over guns, then when I discovered SxS game guns, and could afford a good one, I received a gun fitting and shooting lessons with Dale Tate (gunmaker, formerly James Purdey & Sons). From that time I've never looked back, the traditional game gun is more fun, and timeless in its handling and elegance. As the American gun writer Steve Bodio once observed, "why kill a beautiful bird with an ugly gun?"

The style is reminiscent of the late Percy Stanbury. who taught this method. I find some grounds put the shooter too close to the tower and wind the trap spring up causing shooters to 'snap' at the target. (Hows mum and dad David? Used to shoot skeet with them well over 40 yrs ago. Had a nice chat with them when I came down some years ago)

@@dennishumm8741 that is the Stanbury method, actually still the best method on driven, the old bum, belly, beak ...bang! The benefit of this method is you don't tend to pull off line, more driven targets, clay or pheasant are missed down either side than behind or In front. Game shots I have instructed say I can't believe I didn't hit that, but like I tell them, had it or been a pheasant you'd have still hit it, but under a wing rather than the vital head.
I never instruct pull away or maintained lead, too unreliable on driven targets.

Nothing rusts a side by Side barrel quicker than a slip on leather hand guard, buy yourself a proper glove, much better.
