A piece of advice as a sealed collector is to buy your chase as a single. That helped me resist the urge to rip packs, since I already had the hit or hits I wanted in the set. 🙌
That’s what I do. I display the Chase card next to each booster box it’s connected to!

Yeah but there's nothing like pulling that chase card. I shifted into doing this but last night I pulled the pikachu ex and the euphoria felt from pulling a card like that is unmatched lol. I think it's important to have a healthy balance of the two. Open some packs for some fun, and buy your chase cards after when the prices deflate, not everything needs to be about money.
The ending 😭you reminded me of the time I got home drunk and opened one of my two Cosmic Eclipse ETBs back in early 2021. Pulled the Vileplume/Erika full art & the secret rare Pika, but it still haunts me hahaha.

You're right, TH-cam is absolutely bombarding me with Poke investors haha!😂 The only people I trust are You, Nostalgia Nomics, and Phillips Collectibles. People who have love for the hobby and I can see, as a viewer, are genuine.
I honestly try to not watch too many videos, as it gets me anxious and stressed throughout the week lol. But I can't help but want to know what's going on in the market 😆

I literally started a sealed collection 2 weeks ago and I’m collecting PC ETBs so far I have x4 Stella crown and x2 surging sparks I’m only gonna invest a few hundred a month as my salary isn’t the best but I’m happy haha!

Im just coming up on a year back in the hobby. So glad I found this channel early on and took your advice on S&S boxes. They've all sky rocketed. Just wish I could have brought myself to buy ES BB back then!
After 12 months I'm now holding about 6.5k worth costing me around 4.5k according to Shiny app. A lot being ultra modern yet to see its gains too.

@Rigz. my original aim was to get some of each decent S&S set before they got too pricey, which I managed except ES. I've since moved to get one of each S&V and trying to jump on 151 restocks.
I got 4 SS PC ETBs and sold 2 on the original jump along with my booster box. I dont doubt there will be opportunities to get a BB again. Ive since picked up a half BB at a good price.

I have been explaining to my girlfriend every single day for the past 6 months that I refuse to open my sealed collection. She keeps nagging me about opening everything - especially my Crown Zenith product (it's her favorite set).
She got into Pokemon cards before me, so she managed to pull the Moonbreon from just a few Evo Skies packs (she's got incredible luck). She even had the foresight to buy a couple ETBs to keep sealed, which is great.
I managed to pick up some Paldea Evolved, Paradox Rift, Lost Origin, and Crown Zenith before the prices became outrageous. Also picked up some different newer sets for decent prices. Currently working on stocking up on Paldean Fates, Surging Sparks, Twilight Masquerade, and Obsidian Flames, but it's real difficult to find it at a price range I'm willing to pay at the moment.
I agree bro, personally i don't enjoy opening that much, i just buy the singles i want and keep the rest sealed. It's the most fun for me epsecially if i can use some of yhat money for a downpayment later
I have just started investing in graded cards and I think I will start to hold some products for long term after my holiday next month :)

People also need to keep in mind that most “investors” will ditch their sealed product as soon as it drops or open it when they’re drunk with their boys. The amount of people who will hold this product for YEARS is relatively low.
There are so many people talking exit points but SwSh is going to age extremely well because it’s getting ripped like crazy right now. There really won’t be much left and these boxes will be thousands of dollars. This lack of product currently is great for SwSh
@ yes, unfortunately I don’t have much SWSH, only about 9 Astral ETBs and 108 packs of Crown Zenith.
The market as a whole is in the billions in terms of valuation and growing. eBay is having a field day with all the sellers fees lol
I have every SWSH ETB and BB sealed, and every SV PC ETB, ETB and BB sealed. Stored away safely. Forget they're there half the time! But in the back of my mind I know - this is my slice of the pie, let's see how it goes each year. It's tempting, but don't rip packs, people! Have fun, but don't break the bank on openings.

I started collecting literally just last September/October and I only planned on picking up a single evo skies booster box and somehow ended up getting way more into it than I had planned. I’m up double on my purchases so far in just a few months

I'm betting so many more people getting into sealed product will stay the course. Many of us original collectors started learning do's and dont's of investing using Robinhood in the late 2010s and during covid. People overextending themselves will just scalp or sell out of needing the cash, but many will hold knowing the current and expected state of the market

Guilty of the beers and ripping open product but I keep Japanese booster boxes around to rip that are cheap and fun to open and it’s those I get into when I feel the urge and keep everything English sealed and out of sight

I picked up a Battle Styles BB for $165 CAD. I feel like it should be worth more, there are some cool arts in that one
I believe surging is between fusion and evolving so I think long term its one of the best sets. I still will be buying and if it gets a reprint ill get even more because i believe in it that much. All sets will do pretty well but imo it will do better than any other sv set so far long term.
Surging is a crazy good set!
I would say it’s exactly even with fusion strike (assuming no better sets come out) but I don’t think the chases are as strong, the illustration rares make up for it though. I hate the pikachu and think gengar vmax and Espeon vmax alts are better chases and will age waaaaaaaaay better 🤷♂️ the masterball pikachu (such a rare card 🙄) got reprinted into the ground from $500 psa 10 to $300 and technically that can still happen to surging sparks pikachu, but not espeon and gengar 🤷♂️
@marcburch2633 surging has popular Mons just like fusion. Pikachu, latias, hydreigon, milotic fusion has Gengar, Eevee, mew, celebi. Illustration rares are amazing in surging sparks and you can dislike the Pikachu that doesn't mean value will drop. It's also a far more enjoyable set to open. I think it will age well but it's ok to disagree. I think it's a better investment at this price and especially after a reprint then say something like paradox sv base etc.
@ I think fusion strike at $80 a booster box a couple years ago was a better investment than $200 for surging sparks will ever be but I’m fine with being wrong. I think the Latias also looks lackluster, the Milotic looks nice but it isn’t a popular Pokémon so it’s pretty overvalued in the event of massive reprints
@@marcburch2633 I mean fair enough 80 dollars a box was quite a while ago at this point and at the time people were not into it. I have a couple openings on my pokebros channel opening that set and loved it at the time but was definitely in the minority. But surging will most likely never be 80 a box the set is definitely good imo but only time will tell. Appreciate hearing your thoughts.

I don't know Australian MSRP but converting that to USD. $45 AUD is just above our MSRP so that's a great price for Surging Sparks.

If you have that urge to rip packs I strongly suggest opening Japanese packs. Cheaper, easier to get and still retain some if not out way the cost of the box itself.

@@pokeoz91an what exactly do you mean by doubling the Market? The amount of people playing/ buying/ ripping products or a a doubling the market in terms of Money Made per year for the Industry?
@shrang744 the total value the global TCG industry is valued at, that included sports cards, collectable cards. Pokemon is of course the biggest player in TCGs.
I said something similar about pokeinvesting being a new concept to the masses and got shut down by nostalgianomics because he (1 out of 8 billion or whatever the number is) was investing since xy 🤷♂️
It's really new to the masses. Maybe there was a few lucky or switched on people during black and white or XY but I don't think people were actively storing sealed product as an investment.
I forgot but have you ever mentioned collecting Japanese sealed product yourself and why?

You can’t list something 10% over market price and expect it to sell 🤷♂️ people buy cases that are thousands of dollars every day on Ebay. I’m sure streamers will buy boxes no matter how expensive they get

I keep thinking about this too, corporations are trying to ween us off physical media. No disc drives, subscription services, Go and Pocket are the beginning of the shift in this hobby.... In my opinion.
@BlackHeartJK27 well it would make sense in a business sense and supply but physical will always be king, that's why when they do pull the plug, prices will get insane imo
