Machado and old town of Mazatlan

Mazatlán is a Mexican resort town along the Pacific shoreline in the state of Sinaloa. This walk is in old Mazatlán there is 19th-century landmarks include the performance hall Teatro Ángela Peralta and the towering Immaculate Conception basilica.

We have been visiting Mazatlan for forty years and it is amazing to have witnessed its changes. Back then many gringos thought we were crazy for walking the streets at night from the Mercado to the Machado and over to the Shrimp Bucket as it was dimly lit and quite honestly not the 'prettiest' side of town. About 10 - 15 years ago they undertook a huge renewal program and the downtown has grown to what you see here. It is beautiful.
