Put navigators with 4 inch aces on the sled last year and steering was light it bites and not a hint of darting. My new sled is getting the navigators and 6 inch maverick’s this year.
Thank you Bruce, more people need to hear this. Everyone says you need more carbide especially with studs blah blah … but it’s the ski and host bar that make up 90% of your traction.
Have you run the ace or dooly on you c&a skis and if so did you have an issues with darting? I currently have a renegade x and pushes on corners but I have a pair of c&a adx kicking around that I want to put on don’t mind more steering weight just want to know going into a corner that I’m actually going to turn
ive run an Ace. Doolys will decrease your steering as it splits the pound per inch on the carbide. I do not have issues with darting with the C&A's as long as toe is set properly. i do not know what model the ADX is though. Not one they make these days at least
Thanks for the video; good to know. Think I'll opt for the 8" Ace for my crazier sled. You made the point, more aggressive the studding, the more aggressive the runner has to be. Was also unaware that new sleds are worse for darting than older sleds... all my sleds are 90s Indies. Curious about paddle tracks, same idea as studs? Bobsledding is a more accurate term for darting.... darts follow a set trajectory based on your throw. Bobsledding, is done in a trough and following the trough.
I've used all kinds of carbides over the years, and all kinds of brands. Nothing lasts as long as Woodys. The more aggressive, the better for me. I don't care what speed I'm going, when I turn I want it to turn. I usually run 8" Ace with a custom 1/4" extension to push them out even more into the snow.
I always run woodys wear bars. I never ran a studed track on any of my sleds never been a fan of studs. Hope we get snow soon I am ready to put some miles on my new sled
Hi: Jesse Christopher ottawa Canada I used the 8 inch slim Jims on my apex with power steering was wondering what experience you had if any using these on polaris skies. On apex great with powers steerring but wonder will slim jims work well on Polaris and even more important make it hard to steer. Have the Navigator plate on my 2022 XCR. Christopher
its really rider preference. i use huge skis with 8 inch Woodys Mavericks. Id Say the Polaris is lighter on the skis then the Apex so i dont see you having an issue but you wont know until you try it ya know?
Great info!! I ran 8” Woodies duallies on my 2012 f800 sno pro for about 3,500 miles, I liked them but steering a little stiff , then I switched to Bergstrom triple points for 1500 miles, easier to steer but had the same bite in the turns, I’m trying out a set of Snow tracker carbides on my VR1 since I got it new, got 1200 miles on them and they are great! Only issue is in low snow they are so deep that it’s easy to catch rocks, rail, etc, they have that Navigator like Bruce was showing built into the wear plate, they do not dart at all with there triple wing design, I’d say good thing about Woodies products are the ease of availability compared to the other two I mentioned if you tear something up, , I ride 90% groomed trail, 10% off trail
everyone has preference and they will go with what makes them happy! we wanted to go over the Woody's line up and let everyone know what was available!
we went over basic set up in an earlier video. We will touch on a few things to do but really if the trails get rougher you have to make your suspension stiffer
I personally have never had good luck with Woodys products. Between carbides that last under 1000 miles. I prefer Snow Studs brand out of Wisconsin... but everyone's got their preference! Solid informative video!
Everyone does I agree. Everyone finds what works fo rthem and goes with It. We wanted to touch on what the differences were within the Woody's line up! Appreciate you watching along!
@@JESSEJAMES322 I find this interesting. I for the first time shimmed my skis last year snd it made a world of difference. What I don't understand is why don't they just make them right from the factory? Why put something out there that needs to be tweeked fo make it work better...especially when everyone knows it? I thought the ski shimming was a gimmick but it works...🤯
This was a great help. Another great video. Nice to see you guy’s spend your time doing this for us. Great to see the dog back. Thanks again. Have a happy holiday’s.

there ya go!! good choice of products!

carbide still plays a big role but yes host bar is huge!
I know this is an old video but have you ever used the woody trail blazer IV?
i have not run them no
Great carbide info. Welcome back Nash the JJ mascot
Hes happy to be back!

@@JESSEJAMES322 thanks for the help and from what I’ve gathered it’s the original C&A
Nash is back ! You’re good now. 👍 Another great video
Thank you and yes hes back!

same wth paddle tracks yes/ more traction in the back the more you need up front!

have you tried to run C&A Skis? seems like you would enjoy them! but agreed Woodys is the bets in the market!
First like and Comment. Ohhhhh Yeah Jesse! Merry Christmas Buddy!!!
HELL YEA!! Merry Christmas!
Nice TH-cam break now back to hooligan sledders

Are you going with the 8” Maverick?
Yes i will be!
Cool. I think there available now.
Great video btw.

8” ace on my assault changed the game 100%. No longer pushes unless your in loose loose warm snow
Great Choice!
I would recommend the navigators for anyone. Little to no darting and cuts down on ski wear
Heard great things about them for sure!
Thanks for the great snowmobile info. Do you have any suggestions on suspension setup for rough trails?
we went over basic set up in an earlier video. We will touch on a few things to do but really if the trails get rougher you have to make your suspension stiffer
Quick question how did that wing thing you put on your C@A s work out!!
Worked Great. I will be running them again this year
Any input on the carbide sharpeners on the market. Friend uses one and it seems to do a decent job.
Id have to ask Bruce. I do not have any insight on them. I always just replace

Same but seems like they might be stepping up there game with the maverick
You did it!! Was it a covert kidnapping?? Love seeing your little buddy 😂😂Have a great holiday!!You too NASH!!
Mutual kidnapping! Definitely will not being going to jail for It! Merry Christmas!
I would like to know what Bruce thinks about shimming the skis. On the forums everyone says you have to shim the Polaris skis. Merry Christmas🍻
We went over that in our C&A video and he (and myself) 100% recommend It! Merry Christmas to you too !
@@JESSEJAMES322 I find this interesting. I for the first time shimmed my skis last year snd it made a world of difference. thats an answer we will never know. Every manufacturer does it. it definitely does work though!
So the new Woodys Maverick bars will be similar to a Stud Boy shaper bar. I love shaper bars on my VR1 so I gotta think the Maverick will be a hit.
Yes they will be similar! If you want a woodys bar I would wait for them!!
Another great video so the maverick with the slot down the side is pretty much a shaper bar?Merry Christmas to you both and a Happy New Year
Yes very similar! Excited for them! Merry Christmas to you too!
Maverick wonder where they got that idea lol. Stud boy shaper
Come on the all do it! Excited I have that as an option this year
