This video shows how to make “Unaju”, a traditional Japanese dish, with LEGO.
Unaju” is a dish made of rice in a lacquered box, topped with broiled eel.
This video is a stop-motion animation created with many pictures.

I'm always bewildered of the fact that you start the recipes with the alive animal, so it's not concealed in any way the need to sacrifice it in order to obtain food. It's strangely sincere.
The animation of the eel is astounding, feels really alive. The amount of study and work to achieve this level of animation deserves the utmost respect.

@@tomosteen yes, it is true. For us Western people (European and maybe also from America) looks like too crude seeing animals killed. Although it is normal to do so, we don't like to see it.
But please, don't stop to do that in your videos,if if it truly expresses Japanese culture. and if it's normal for you to show it. For me it is fascinating to discover different cultures.
Anyway, great job for your videos. They are fascinating.

Unagi Ju, not Unagi Don. Don means it has to be put in a bowl. Ju means box.

鰻(生体)や鰻(切り身)のモーションもさることながら、ラストの箸で切り分けるシーンが何より凶悪すぎる

In my opinion this is probably one of your coolest animations, The eel was really well done. That sag when you lifted it by the skewers made me do a double take, it was awesome.

I love the effect of the drips of liquid turning to steam as they fall into the heat source. Very well executed and really adds to the effect!!

As fun as I think it would be to have my head active without a body, it'd really suck to have a functional nervous system while split and unfolded in half like that, only really stopping without the heart.
Makes me appreciate the gratitude some of us show for the creatures that sustain us. I'd approve of that policy those uptight vegans suggested, of putting the personal names of the animals bestowed on them by their farmers. It tells you that they had a good run.

There's a Japanese place close to my campus where I usually go the night I have class. I saw grilled eel on the menu and thought of this video. It certainly met my expectations.
The dedication to stop motion is something so insane. A behind the scenes to show how you pull of some of the subtle movements would be so cool
I really want to applaud two things in particular;
the sound design is top notch as always. the ASMR part is earned and adds so much to the video.
And I LOVE the tiny little details you don't realize must take so much effort. Like the little sparks flying off the fire. or the smoke moving at the same time as the hands. SO good.
Amazing video.
And now everything in real life feels weirdly smooth.

Just another amazing animation. I love the way the eel moves when you pick him up. Those dynamic curves as his body bends, the tail waggle, mouth gaping, and all of these part swaps only to place your left hand back in frame and get it to just the right spot so it doesn't look jittery. I am thoroughly impressed. Also clever reuse of those props for when you set the eel back down.
The way you put so much effort into these videos fascinates me!
