My son is 8 and terrified of his first cleaning (due to circumstances we couldn't get him in sooner). So we missed the younger age to adapt. I am going to show him this because it shows honestly all the tools you use. But it makes it not so scary. Especially with such a calm model!!!!

This is great. I love to tell kids “I’m going to show you a magic trick” when I take their X-rays. They always get super excited that I get to show them their big boy or big girl teeth before they come in.
My daughter watched this and when she arrived at the dentist she was so calm
great video, and great for kids too, having an appointment like this will for sure minorize the effects of getting fear of the dentist, that affect so many and kinda haunts the profession. Not like my own experience as a kid, when the only thing i remenber is a strong light, pain and tears, and the only gift that they gave at the end of the appointment were my own teeth in a napkin!

I wish my dentist was like this, I have such a bad gaging issue and they laugh and keep on putting it in my mouth. When we do the scrapping and the mirror thing, they don’t even try to get that mirror away from my mouth, they get mad because I want to stop to spit out stuff. And literally talked right behind me about putting shots in my mouth because i was giving them a hard time. I wish I had a nice first dentist experience, that’s where my anxiety all started :(
If you have a bad gagging experience than start humming when they are trying to cleaning your teeth it works.last time I went to the dentist i gagged but them I started humming and it worked so try it.
Do your patients complain of sore gums afterwards?

How do you do a dental cleaning on kids if they have very wiggly almost ready to come out teeth
I have a dentist appointment on the 30th of this month and I’m super nervous I think I might have 4 or more cavities and haven’t been in 1 and a half years I also have bruxism may even have gum disease but this helps a lot

I was a weird kid, and my teeth were really weird growing in. I always had bets with my dentist about how many teeth finally grew in. I think I won at least 6 tokens. Lol
Christ I haven’t gone to the dentist in almost 2 years because of quarantine and I’m very scared since my appointment is today. Also I’ve noticed that the patient is sitting up straight during the x rays, I always have to lay back a little and I feel like that just makes the chances of gagging higher.

That's a super tough one! Everyone is different! I have friends that love working in a pedo office but I've had friends burn out quickly too, because of all the energy it takes! It's totally whatever you think would fit your personality best! Can't hurt to try out both types of offices and see!

I'm in Wisconsin and just became an assistant last week. I have no prior training and I'm working with the pediatrician. We are not allowed to scale, but we can use the polish to do their teeth. My dentist told me I didn't clean far enough down to the gum and didn't get under the gum.....how am I supposed to do that when I'm not allowed to use the explorer?
Question! The first molars that erupt are right after the Canines right? Also when you lose a molar would your dentist want to know about that at the next appointment?

I just hate the part when they do the x-ray, I try my hardest not to gag. I’m going to a dentist in 2 hours, I’m already 13 but still sometimes get nervous to go to the dentist because of the x ray

what is the polishing instrument tool called? How is the polishing gel paste different than tooth paste?
The polishing instrument is usually called the polishing hand piece and we use a prophy angle on it. The polishing gel we call prophy paste and it is more abrasive than regular toothpaste (aka more gritty). Hope this helps!

great question! as a dental hygienist - working with adults and kids is the same degree. you can choose to work at a specialty office of pediatrics with kids only or in a general office you will see both kids and adults. hope this helps!!!

when i do foam fluoride at my dentist, i have to swish it like mouthwash for a minute.
I used to be petrified of the dentist but I feel a bit more confident now I wish you were my dentist or hygienist because mine are ultra strict and they get mad at My Mum for having bad teeth when she doesn’t brush And my dentist office that I go to doesn’t have a children X-ray or a treasure box :(
It always hurts me when they floss lol! That’s why I don’t like the dentist it hurts so bad!! 😂

I went do this dentist a few weeks ago, it wasn't bad, they said I had no cavities, and they said my teeth look nice, the paste that they used on my teeth tasted sour, and it tickled, thank you for hoping that it would be nice and great!!!

Hi! Sometimes, yes! If there is heavy tarter, generally it will be removed significantly quicker & more efficiently by using the ultrasonic! Hope this helps!
