I did a back to back on NCL in 2018 and the port was Miami. I was not required to leave the ship. They brought custom on board and they did the facial recognition checkin.

There was 550 on our Valiant cruise last summer...so 1200 seems alot for this time of the year. Especially when it was sailing full-ish transatlantic with 1700 and that was fine.
You always go to guest services and make sure the B2B is connected when you go on the first leg. Surprised no one told you that. Some ports in the U.S. you don't have to disembark, it's always up to custom and border agency/homeland security. "Middle age" folks have the time to do B2B in the U.S. and certainly an international trip.

The best thing about doing it back2back is when everyone is getting off the ship, you should be searching rooms for unopened liquor, especially the rockstar suite 😂😂😂
I have a great trick if you are doing a back to back and make friends with people that leave in to see if they left any extra drinks, unopened drinks in their cabins or walk to the sweet cabins because there is lots of untouched alcohol in the air that you know are able to get permission and take

B2B is the best. I’ve done it on Carnival and this was before they made changes too the liquor I purchased from the 1st cruise and they would deliver it too my room and then I have it for the 2nd sailing. They don’t do that anymore 🥲
