Great and informative video. I've been collecting trilobites for a while, but I am just learning to prepare them. Starting with Elrathia, and hoping to eventually move on to Moroccan and Russian trilobites!

Hi Evilsnips. Thank you! If you can get ahold of any Phacops (Eldregops) they are good for building up prepping skills. I may make a video on that soon. Thank you for watching as well. Cheers, Chris

Hi Robert Yes, Big Brook is Awesome. I've been there a couple of times years ago. What is Long Beach Island like? Cheers, Chris

@@fossilhuntingandcollecting4279 nice natural beach. Not an attraction with tourist traps. Barrier island. Look along the beach.

I'm sure you are a great teacher sir, sadly individual and passionate people like us rarely pass muster in the deeply politicised Scottish teacher training system of today. And glad to hear my elrathia fossil is likely authentic!

Hi Benny, Glad that your Elrathia is good too! The teaching politics is brutal here too. Usually the best tenured positions only go to people with relatives in high places. Don't give up. We still can have a very positive effect on the students whether substitutes, untenured or working outside our optimal field. Thank you for watching! Cheers, Chris

Excellent video…I’ve been a lifelong fossil collector and always steered clear of the Moroccan trilobites because of the huge fake industry. I remember seeing baskets of Moroccan trilobites at the Tucson show a decade ago where every single one was exactly the same as the other and all were obvious fake casts.
What I did not know was the extent of the restoration on many of the American trilobites. I have a nice collection of Sylvania phacops trilobites and wanted to ask if you know if these too receive some “doctoring” with resins or if they are mostly just cleaned? Thank you.

Hi James, Thank you for your comments. Phacops are widely found in Pa. so chances are you probably have some genuine. If you post some pics I will try to see if I see any clues either way. Thank you again. Cheers, Chris

Yea to be honest most fossils on the internet on things like eBay that are trilobites are fake because they cost cheaper than they usually would be worth and 2nd I don’t trust these sites unless there actual fossil sites by the way sadly I can’t find trilobites where I am
