    Thanks Shaun. Worked beautifully to fix eggs caused by some twisting in my image train (used GAME to select that areas I wanted to reshape).

      Try the new BlurXterminator 2. Works really well for correcting egg stars.

    This works when stars are all in the same direction, but trying to fix an issue with backfocus (yes, I need to add a .5 mm or so) where stars elongated pointing to the center. They really aren't too bad, but I know they are there ;)

    When you went back to the motion blur tab, your angular adjustment was reset back to zero.

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Must have missed that. Had to start and stop recording of video a couple times. Might have reset it by accident. The general idea/how to is still there though.

    As always, very informative! What method would you recommend to fix elongated stars coming from field curvature?

  • @giampieroiannone9202

    Could you use DynamicPSF and click on stars and look at the theta values to get a better idea of what a good rotation angle is?

      In the linear phase. Before noise reduction, and after background extraction

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You want to use it early on really. Before you stretch the image.

    Could that work with a mask for those stars that are elongated only in corners ?

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not tried that but elongated stars in the corners can be solved with a field flattener and proper backfocus spacing. Clear skies!

    Hi, dou you maybe know a way to fix egg stars in Photoshop? KR

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a way but I honestly can't remember it. It's been so many years since I last PS for image processing.

  • @cliffordmarcus6683
    @cliffordmarcus6683 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm finding it improves star shapes, but increases noise in the background.

  • @soaringfranz
    @soaringfranz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the image already stretched? I don’t see the green underlining on the tab name, which makes me think it is.

  • @josephhodge7343
    @josephhodge7343 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Should this be done while linear or non-linear?

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideally it should be done before stretching.

  • @AG-kd3sw

    Hello and thanks for your video! ((o:
    Sometime I have stars "in different direction" in the corners. Do you have an idea what can I do to fit it?

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm thinking you might need a field flattener for your setup. This will correct curvature in the corners that will distort your stars.

    Is Pixinsight cheating ? I can apply Pixinsight to make an achromatic refractor exceed a 9000 dollar apochromatic refractor?
