    That final riff is just FILTHY.
    There is something special about Gojira.
    A lot of people refer to them as "prog." And while I hesitate to use that term, the whole is definitely greater than the sum of it's parts.
    I can pick up my guitar and pick out pretty much any of their riffs fairly quickly, but there is something about the way they put their songs together that makes them so musically interesting.
    And I reiterate, you have never seen a more devastating live band in your entire life.

    • @NickyHendriks

    That chorus though, maks me cry. The way Gojira is able to create a melody with growls and very heavy music is beautiful. A lot of bands will tone done the intensity of the music in the melodic parts and then go back to heavy. But Gojira has a way to create a beautiful, melodic, touching, music without toning it down, not a notch.
    Yes, it's an acquired taste for sure but absolutely love them.

  • @tampastu
    @tampastu 4 ปีที่แล้ว +67

    Dude, you are hooked. I had the same reaction the first time I listened to the tracks you've done this week. Here's the thing ... that's just the first listen. Wait till you put them on repeat and start to dig in ... find all the subtleties you missed the first couple of times. I was never into the death metal scene because of the screaming too, but for me, these vocals really are another instrument and add to the vibe rather than detract from it. And if you ever have the chance to see them live, you owe it to yourself. They give off such positive energy - you can tell they love performing for their fans, and they sure as hell bring it!

    • @KrakenIsMahB
      @KrakenIsMahB 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      thats philosophy about vocals i made too, restricting vocals to clean-only is like saying instruments should be played only one way, not using entire scale they provide. And god damn, it hits hard when played right, and thats good

    The guitar at the end is a reversed track of another song off the album, they do this in a few on their albums. Gojira is simply art, from Mario Duplantier being the greatest drummer of our generation to Joe Duplantier having the harsh but melodic vocals it’s amazing. Jean-Michel Labadie absolutely throws his heart into the bass and Christian Andreu with his crazy rhythms! The Gift of guilt is a less heavy track for you, or the shooting star. Their latest album (Magma) is tailored for newer listeners

    When I got metal I first started with Metallica then Nightwish, Megadeth and Rammstein. Pretty much after that I got into the really heavy shit where you had screams and growls. It was hard to listen at first because I had gotten used to the more cleaner vocals. But over time I started to understand them more and started to enjoy them. They bring more even heaviness and emotion to the tracks.

    once you delve into the art of screaming/growling and how they are able to do different styles without hurting themselves is quite phenomenal!

    Gojira and Meshuggah are my absolute favourite metal bands. So these last few days on your channel are just pure gold to me.
    "that might be the fastest kick pedal i have ever heard"
    -Thomas haake has joined the server lmao
    Btw i HIGHLY suggest "Dancers to a discordant system" next... one of my faves by Meshuggah.

    I've listened to metal for a long time and it took years before I started to like vocals like lamb of God and Gojira.

    The first time I listened to this album I was liking a few tunes, thinking ‘oh yeah this is a good one’
    Then The Art Of Dying cane on and gave me such a massive adrenaline dump, it builds you up so well and now it’s one of my favourite lifting songs

    A great job on the video bro. I think musically, Gojira is top notch when it comes to creativity. However, for me, the vocals don't strike me the way I was hoping they would. With the soul inspiring magic that say Tool gives. But I still Like what they did with this one 👍

    The Gift of Guilt (live Brixton Academy) is one the best video's to see the technicianship and precision of Mario Duplantier!

    I like to watch this kind of video because they make me listen very carefully to these songs and catch every little details that the artists put into it.
    Imho this Gojira masterpiece is something of another level, something above our comprehension. Something that makes you travel through dimensions.. simply amazing.
    This song has everything I need, pure power. Goosebumps all the way through

    I was going to see this guys on April (Epicenter music festival) for the first time! I was so fucking excited, and then, corinavirus happened. I really hope to see them next year... Really glad that more people are listening to gojira, they are THE BEST.
    You should listen:
    * Global Warning (live version)
    * Silvera
    * Low Lands (no screams/growls in all the song)

    I remember reacting like this guy... Fell in love with rock when I was 10 because of GTA: Vice city and when I was a kid MTV actually played music, and good music at that... Next thing you know I was 17 and thought some heavy rock was hard. Then I've heard of Lamb of God, Devildriver, Gojira, As I Lay Dying, Pantera, Judas Priest and many more through a friend and my whole world changed. Now I'm 27 and this is just another monday... For 10 straight years I've listened to album after album, band after band and it's the best shit that ever happened to me. Metal is a wonderland and the best part is, there's something for everyone. Most original music on the planet. And a recommendation... Listen to Igorrr. Make a reaction video. It'll be fun. :D

    Gojira is always the best. Try "remembrance (link alive)" from them to see the best live performance, especially the drummer.

    Please react to Gojira's Silvera official music video. I'm sure you'll love it and the music video is hella cool and the lyrics deep. And it's not as "deathmetal" as these older songs. So I think you would love their last two albums. Or then the "global warming" live at silver cord studios. The live version is better than the studio version. Oh yeah and of course the live version of "the gift of guilt" from london.

    Lowlands. These guys create such a mood and atmosphere in this song. Its starts out like a ghost, rises like a mountain and ends like a Tuscan sunset. (or Irish sunset if you are so inclined...)

    For me this is about someone having a long coma (intro), his mind wake up and he is terrified (erratic part), he realizes what is happening (first paragraph), freaks again (second erratic part), thinks of him (second paragraph), accepts death (short epic break) then proceed to the art of dying explained in the epic paragraph. The slow riff at the end is obviously death.
    I don't know if they wrote this song in that way but I like this interpretation.
