I tune in every thursday and wait impatiently for the next ep every week. I really love the podcast. Mucho is one hell of an add to this team. you guys are the funniest and always have fun/serious topics. Love from Durham!! 👏🏾❤️
I'm starting to think Clyde doesn't just chill at home lmao I'm convinced he has a secret life he doesn't want to share with the pod.. y'all remember when he alluded to having a girl?
complexion of black people is pretty subjective around the diaspora but as a black person socialized in America i would not say JH is lightskinned, i hate the term “brownskinned” but he definitely leans closer to that than light 😭
Everything Tresor mentioned would not come into affect until the child reached adolescence; because Jamaican culture is far more contemporary than Nigerian cultures I’m not sure there as many observed rituals (obviously not discounting things like 9 night etc.) Those considerations of what version of Blackness is cool in the west won't come until the child has to socialise. Versus from birth they'd be given several Nigerian names possibly speak or at least be spoken to in a Nigerian language by their Nigerian mother and grow up eating swallows, stews, soups and jollof. I'd also argue Nigerians are ever present in a way Jamaicans have never been, you'll find a Nigerian in almost every country in the Americas, Africa and Europe. Now at one point because of stars like Bob Marley and Jamaica’s respective cultural and geographic proximity to Britain and the US, JA music has touched most of the world but Reggae, Dancehall etc aren't as popular today. We’re yet to see if Afrobeats is a trend or proper global phenomenon, since so many Nigerian artists have been using Amapiano, a South African sound, over the last 4-5 years to stay popping.
