Seeing a lot of people going really hard on the turn out-time, but personally I believe each horse needs individual care and for a lot horses that means not needing to go outside for 12 hours a day. I´m guessing most of the students are competing and therefore doing a lot of hard training all year round, and if your horse gets lets say 3 hours outside, 1-2 hours of exercise and maybe also a handwalk or two during the day - thats enough for many of them. They also need rest time. One of my horses was kept in a competition yard her whole life and she would NOT adjust to the 10/12-hour turnout time when I brought her home. She was happiest with more time indoors so she could really relax, and a lot of exercise with me! And then again, my other horse grew up with a lot more time outside and a little less exercise, which meant I had to take care of them both in completely different ways. It´s not impossible... ps: loved the video and Hartpury looks amazing. I think for a lot of people and their horses it´s a perfect fit - not for everyone, but thats okay :)
Emilie Annedotter Nordset i couldn’t have said that any better!! And 100% agree with you!! Most horses here get a lot of exercise outside of turnout, my horse along with many others have really busy days; he gets ridden for an hour; he goes on the horse walker twice a day for 45 mins, he goes out for 3 hours and sometimes on a hand walk, that is enough for him as he’s then quite happy to be inside where he can sleep, Everytime I come see him while he’s resting he’s lying down sleeping, he loves his routine!! Also many people are forgetting that over night turnout is an option too, which would be from 4pm-8am, being over 15 hours!! There’s something available for everyone ☺️
Ride Every Stride he really does look so happy in your videos! He’s such a handsome horse and looks so shiny and fit, an absolute heartbreaker 😍 cheering for you and I wish you all the best, stay safe!
finally sombody says it. different horses prefer different schedules. i used to get so much hate because my horse hates turnout. I only turn her out for 1 hour a day- and that is enough for her. Her stall has a run attached to it too but she doesn’t go in it. every horse is different and a lot of people don’t understand
A gorgeous yard with amazing facilities, but never in a million years would I consider going somewhere where my horse was locked in a box 24 hours a day for months on end. All-year round turnout isn't a bonus, it's a requirement for adequate welfare.
they are concerned more about the fields then they are the horses welfare as much as its a gorgeous yard with amazing facilities I couldn't put my horse through that that's what turned me off there when I was applying for equestrian universities as an international student :/
At hartpury there’s 4 months of limited turnout. In that time you have access to hacking, walkers, indoor and outdoor arenas... there’s more then enough exercise facilities. You can also turn out in an arena. I say if you can’t manage your horse not being able to be in a paddock for a couple months you’re not dedicated enough
@@georgiamolton8732 In my opinion exercise facilities aren't an adequate replacement for turnout. Yes it's good that the horses aren't necessarily cooped up in a box all day, but arguing that they get out for an hour or two a day being ridden or exercised is still no excuse. They don't get time to be a horse. Turn out time is not equal to exercise.
There’s an equine vet on site and hartpury is one of the best equine college in the country and world, if there was an issue with limited turnout in the darkest wettest months in think it would be shut down? It’s an fei venue as well as an European 2020 venue, I’m sure if there was an issue it would besolved.
I'm shocked they close their turnout/fields. For an equine university you'd think they would have the horse's best interest in mind. And just an hour turnout a day in a small paddock is not enough. Other than that, it looks great. I do hop there is more hacking available off the property though.
I agree with you however if you're from England or Ireland then you know a lot of Equine facilities do this for winter months. The ground and grass needs to recover and the mud sometimes is just horrendous. Which means that horses can get injured a lot quicker then say America or Australia
@@user-fo8bp7or1v In Norway we have all weather surface in our turnout (which does get muddy) that we use spring, autumn and winter. And we save the grass for summer, as that is the only time we have any grass...
@@JustHorseyMie with the mud here you can sink up to ur knees. ive lost wellies in the mud. its not super great to have them out and most wanna come in.
@@nutella_equestrian1607 we also have mud, but we gradually transform our turnout so that it will be able to handle the rain. Because animal welfare laws requires horses to be out every day.
You can't study equine veterinary anywhere, you have to study veterinary medicine/science and then specialize into equine medicine following the course. But Hartpury does offer a vet nursing course, so you can become a nurse there, but not a vet.

Wow what a stable! But im pretty shocked because of the hours the horses are outdoor on the fields - 3 hours in the summer? And none to 1 in the winter? That's a thing I could never accept for my horse, as beautiful the surroundings are, my horse needs to be outside 10+ hours (especially in summer) and that's honestly the most important thing for me. Lena_ _speaking the university is actually closed right now due to COVID-19. I think she briefly mentions that there really aren’t many students there, so she’s able to have her horse out a lot due to that. Wow it’s a dream 💗💗💗
my dream is to go study equine sports or equine veterinary at hartpury
how come there is no stallions allowed at Hatpury ?
They have lots of horses here (meaning a lottt of mares!) and it would be very risky to keep stallions so close nearby without the proper facilities to keep them in (including stables away from mares)
That place is dreamy😍
So what would happen if you have 2 horses? I would love to go there but ish horses cannot be separated :(
You have both horses on livery there
Can you do veterainery at Hartbury? I am going soon bit I'm not sure what I want to do
your going to hartpury but don't know what course to take?
Omg it’s so weird to watch bc my eventing there all the time haha 😂
WOW haurtpury is incredible they literally have everything you would dream of in a facility! #GOREGOUS
hey my son watches your videos he loves them and tells me that he wants to join the university so I wanted to now how much percentage do you need to get into the university . thank you , Julia
I soooo want to go there!😍❤️ But then I remember I am still 10…😐
same
Absolutely amazing awesome place I really liked 💕
Do they have non livery yard so can u ride there horses if there is any
Yes if you don't have a horse or don't want to bring your horse you can loan a horse from hartpury or if you don't do an equine course (like me) they have a scheme where you can learn to ride once s week and pay for a lesson
Charlotte Forrester thank you so much 😊 I’ve been dying to know xxxxx
@@C.Woodford how much is it to ride?
@@ElsieVlogs hi! I finished my course a year ago and now I can't remember. Im really sorry. It might be on their website or the hartpury equine instagram- you can dm them they're really friendly!
Do you prefer having a horse in the UAE or in England?
No stallions.?..I trained in Italy and Ireland, but in Italy they treat stallions different there’s no separate stable block..there all in the one barn. And if they get stroppy they get a cold hose..and we ride out with mares without problems...
GREAT VIDEO!❤️
I hope to study barn management here one day
Is it hard to get to hartpury? As a foreigner. And is it hard to keep up with work there?
How did you apply? Is it possible that you are from Germany? I’m kind of confused about the different degrees. If you just graduated with Abitur (A-Level) do you start in undergraduate courses?
Linda Rüschenschmidt ich bin deutsche, und ja nach dem Abitur kommt der Bachelor also undergraduate degree , das ist das gleiche ☺️
Can you still go to Hartpury even if you're American??
How much does it cast to keep your horse there?
so jealous!!
Can you move from a different country to England and study at Hartpury, or do you have do be from England?
You can be from anywhere
How about if you don't have your own horse ?
I am so going here
This is so cool lucky!!
Ahh this is my dream uni omg I'm definitely applying!!!
Hayyy 🐎🐎🐎

How can there be a stallion turn out if there are no stallions allowed there?
Do you guys have to have your own horses or do they give you a horse to ride ??
