Good solve today, Doug. Got it in 4, as well.... Aerie, Laugh, Banjo, Fancy! Funny how our interests can change. Wasn't a school fan growing up, but in my latter years, I love learning. I've taken a variety of courses. I could never narrow it down.
I think my favorite course was “Anatomy and Physiology”. So much to learn and a few great teachers. But my creative side enjoyed “Creative Writing”. After “aster” and “doily”, I thought of canny, happy, nanny and wacky, already answers. Then, fancy, fanny, hanky, and nappy. I thought “fancy” was most likely. So a “3” for me today. Aster- doilY- FANCY
Thank you for using my starter word suggestion. In homage to the US - UK special relationship ( allegedly??!!) I used the american spelling AERIE as my starter, then in keeping with the eagle nest vibe TALON, then SAUNA, and finally leapt to FANCY for par. At school literature and English composition was my favourite subject though I also liked geography and history.
After EYRIE, I wanted to test some of the most common consonants along with another vowel, so I went with STONY. That got me Y in position and N out of position. Now I assumed there had to be an A, so I tried MANLY -- getting close with the A, N, and Y in position. HANDY didn't get me anywhere. Then I remembered that my sister Nancy has the nickname FANCY Nancy and there it was! I have never seen the word eyrie. I've always seen a bird nest such as an eagle's nest spelled aerie. And my favorite subject was English, so I've done a bit of reading -- but still don't recall that variant spelling.
I am afraid it is a pesky UK English alternative spelling! But here I the UK we struggle with words ending --or in US spelling against -- our in English!
EYRIE is the British version of AERIE. However, I went with ADAGE; SCARY; and FANCY. Math was always my favorite subject bc I was good at it in school. But I also loved Spelling hence the love of word games now.
EYRIE-CANDY-FANCY I enjoyed my studies more the further I went in school. You eventually reach a point where you're studying something so specialized that no one knows anything about it but you, and hopefully it's something you're uniquely passionate about.

My favorite courses in school were always English and other language courses. As far as Wordle goes, let's just say my unbeaten streak is intact. My chain for today: LEAST-ARROW-PANDA-FANNY-FANCY.
DOUG spent quite a lot of time working this out after EYRIE. I also started with EYRIE and my total time taken was about 10 seconds - not kidding . . . .
Got a bit lucky today, my first thought with the Y at the end helped. Favorite subjects are history and geology. (including the professor I wished I'd had in college, Nick Zentner, who started gaining lots of fans during the pandemic with 75 live streams. eyrie-flaky-fancy was my chain today.
Today's Wordle gave me some trouble, but I finally got it in five. LEARN ("A" and "N" out of position.) SAINT ("A" now in position, "N" out of position.) BANJO ("A" and "N" now in position, no new letters uncovered.) CANDY ("A", "N" and "Y" in position, "C" out of position.) FANCY (Solved!)
Good solve! A 3 for me.... ORATE CUPID FANCY Took me a while though. Found it hard to get words that didn't have C first or A 3rd. Decided there must be either 2 As or a Y somewhere. Sill a while before I came up with FANCY
I was a Social Studies major and I wanted to teach high school USHistory or Government, but those classes went to the more senior members of the staff. I was assigned freshman Geography year after year and Leadership. The Leadership must have taught me something because I ended up in administration.
EYRIE TALLY and then I got stuck on double letter words with the last word as DAFFY. Failed today. My favorite subject is math. I’ve always been good with numbers. After all there are only 10 of them.
Scoredle 4/6 14,855 ⬜🟩⬜⬜🟨 SATIN (180) ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ROULE (69) ⬜🟩🟩⬜🟩 HANKY (18) 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 FANCY Another Ho-hum (albeit lucky) performance. I am thinking harder about mixing it up with my starting words, maybe getting a C in there instead of a U.
I got there in five but I'm very disappointed with my performance in this one because I made a logical mistake which could have cost me. After STARE and DOILY, I had the A in yellow as well as the Y ending in green. I thought there might be an "AW" in there somewhere so I tried MACAW. I figured I was getting close and I looked at every possible CAxxY and xACxY word. The only ones I could think of were cabby and canny. So I tried CABIN to see what's what. It was then that I realized I had made a huge oversight, forgetting that the C could go fourth. Fortunately the N lighting in yellow led me to find the word FANCY, which was the solution. [I liked math in school and especially enjoyed Trigonometry when I was a senior in high school. I had a tough teacher that year who I had been warned about for years, but while she proved to be kinda mean she was also a really good teacher. I ended up loving the class!]
