    I think there is a reason why we call some pets as "exotic" pets because they aren't usually kept captive and belong in the wild. There are types of animals that get along with humans very well have been with people for a long time such as dogs. However, there is a reason why some animals should stay in wild. Their behavior might not fit with human activity or their environments might not fit. For example, arctic foxes and dessert foxes are getting very popular as pets but the environment doesn't fit with people that live in urbanc areas. This leads to extreme stress for the animals. Although some people argue that animals after adaptation will be fine in captive environment, it is no where near their original environment which would eventually lead to stress for the animals.

      Kinda agree. But I think also too many animals are included in the "exotic" category, despite being reasonable, relatively common pets and can thrive in captivity that most people can give. It's a far stretch to include guinea pigs, other rodents and small common pet birds like budgies in "exotic pets". And small harmless reptiles are often just technically exotic, but a crested and leopard geckos or milk and corn snakes are still very reasonable pets. Not everyone wants/are drawn to the same thing, have the same lifestyle and situation, the same willingness to put up with various downsides, some have allergies and need alternatives etc. Some of the "exotic" pets are actually easier to care for than a dog. I dont think it should only be dogs, cats and traditional livestock that are allowed to be pets. Its all a matter of what you can realistically give a good life and know what you get into. Along with not supporting poaching for wild animals or breeders that treat animals horribly.
      A whole lot of wild animals make for completely unreasonable pets, either because its hard to make them thrive in captivity, they could pose a serious threat to the owner, or they just wont effectively breed in captivity and constantly catching them from the wild threatens the species.

    My question was partially answered, when you find a wild animal in bad condition usually a baby Bobcat or Mountain lion or deer. If you have the space and they are used to you why not? I know this raises alot of questions. But when transfered to a sanctuary they will not eat or drink, till their foster parent returns.

    Hey AnimalWised
    I no this is not the topic to be discussed in this video’s comment section
    However I would want to tell u that my male and un-neutralized 11 months old cat has been missing for 3 and a half days from the time this comment has been typed.
    I’m worried.
    Some people say that male cats never come back to their owners. However, someone had seen him a day before yesterday.
    I live in a society of two buildings, where a lot of construction work takes place, and where a lot of dogs and wild cats live.
    There are not many cars.
    Please tell me what must I do to find my cat.
    Thank you.
    Edit:- I found him😁😁😁😁

      I have no issue with what you are saying, but those foxes aren’t domesticated completely yet, they still need several hundred more years, seeing as they are still wild animals, even if friendly to humans. And even then, it’s not a dog or a cat, it’s a fox with it’s own behaviors, whatever that looks like.

      I think too many animals are included in the exotic pet list. Even guinea pigs are technically considered exotic. When it becomes commonly bred in captivity and can thrive in conditions that most people can give, it should no longer count as exotic. I dont even think common pet snakes and geckos (like leopard and crested gecko, milk snake, ball python etc.) should really count as exotic as this point. And dont forget animals can be both potentially dangerous and hard to care for without being exotic, horses are a great example. But the majority of wild animals should still not be kept.

    I'm very conflicted about this because I believe that certain animals have the capacity to be pets if their owners are knowledgeable about the species and aren't dangerous. I have seen proof of several animals thriving and being very, very happy. I'm not for trafficking, snatching animals out of the wild, or anything of that nature. But I also just don't think humans should be constricted to only a few animals to have as pets. Humans are passionate creatures and those who have a passion for the docile animals that can be kept as pets legally deserve to embrace what they love. Some people are not content with the usual domestic pets and no one should tell them they can't have the the aforementioned animals simply because they are exotic and only should be wild. Some animals are in need of a caretaker and wouldn't last a minute out there. These are among the animals who need our help. Heck, some people are allergic, not fond of, and/or afraid of common household pets. Knowledge is power for a reason and as long as owners wisely wield it and follow their local laws, I think everyone can be happy.

    • @marsn9137
      @marsn9137 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Humans don't need a variety of species to suffer in captivity to satisfy their greed. Cats, horses, dogs etc. are amazing animals that are already domesticated; stop defending this ridiculous practice.

    • @ploopsie1403
      @ploopsie1403 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree with Mars N. There are no other animals close to the level of domestication as the dog cat and horse, which have been extensively bred and raised throughout millennia to behave the way that they do. Wild animals are not domesticated, with the closest being the fox at 50 years, which should take another several hundred to domesticate. They also aren’t dogs or cats, they’re foxes, with other, more wild animals having different behaviors as well. These are wild animals and owning them is abuse. We have shelters and rescues for animals, but the idea of humans owning something they cannot possibly understand but claim to is atrocious and the act of attaining such animals is cruel. There should be a list of animals that have been domesticated through several hundred years, and those would still need extensive training and knowledge to care for. If you want another animal that isn’t domesticated, you are harming the animal and even if it’s cute or you raised it, you’re doing it wrong. Leave undomesticated animals the fuck alone and end the cruelty of the exotic animal trade which rips away animals from their natural habitats and puts them in the hands of fuckwits who think they’ll behave like a cat. Leave the wild animals the fuck alone.

      @@marsn9137 I'm not saying it's okay to just walk home with a tiger cub until it grows up to become dangerous or something... I just don't see why people are against non-violent animals being owned as pets. People own lots of certain animals (legally, thank goodness) and I think this is just one extra opportunity to learn to love and care for animals. If it's more detrimental to an animal, I'm not for it. But if it helps an animal, why not? Some animals can't even be released back into the wild.

    • @marsn9137
      @marsn9137 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RosheenQuynh encouraging exotic pet ownership is really irresponsible, as many wild animals do suffer in captivity and there is absolutely nothing necessary about keeping them as pets. So yeah, it doesn't help animals. They're far better off in the wild where they are actually adapted to their environment, not in some fool's house who can't even care for them properly.

      I’m sorry but are you dumb, some animals are near extinct meaning they need protection away from the public and in their natural habitat. And than their are just plain dangerous animals that might not be harmful to you, but can harm others it’s not used to. These animals are meant to survive alone in the WILD , they aren’t domesticated. No matter how much you think they will love you, they are hard wired to survive using their killer instincts.
