This was my first playstation game. Oh the nostalgia is too much...SCREW ADULTHOOD! I want to play games and eat junk food with cousins and fight over whos turn it is. D'X
Beautiful game. So many memories. I remember my dad getting this game for my brothers and I because we asked for it -- but we wanted the 3D one. Albeit, this was still a great game.
I remember playing this when it came out. I loved the pop culture references, notably the TV and movie quotes, sarcastic comments ("Ah, Detroit: jewel of the orient,") and actor impersonations. They helped keep me from getting bored of the somewhat repetitive gameplay that is typical of all platformers.
I really do like Gex the Gecko. Back in 2009, the re-release video game is available on the PlayStation Store. I really miss the Gex the Gecko series so much. Good gameplay video though.
He had some reruns on the N64 and the PS1 but after that pretty much disappeared just like Croc and Bug... It's a shame because Gex really had a good vibe around him. After this playthrough I might start a Gex 3: Deep cover gecko run but let's finish this one first haha. And good that you like the wider screen.
I dunno there was that guy with the big ears who's friends with a guy that fell into a tub of dark ooze and became a creature which is a combination of an otter and a weasel. and then there was that other guy who's an alien that becomes friends with a robot after said robot crash landed on his planet
A lizard inside a TV world, a hedgehog with Super Speed, an insane bandicoot that befriends masks. We don't get these original ideas anymore, now everyone is just a guy with a gun.
Idk if anyone's mentioned this already, but Gex was originally featured on the LONG FORGOTTEN 3DO entertainment system by Panasonic which came out before the PS1-he was their mascot but unfortunately for Panosonic (and consumers) the 3DO was crazy expensive (just like ps3 when it came out) and it's price tag led to its end
Also a rage filled wolf like creature with ancient war talons that collects the still beating hearts ( Real not I love you hearts) of evil demons that killed his race and destroyed his world.
You can play PS1 games on the PS2 as well as the PS3. All you need is the game disc and the console and you can play it on either of those other two Playstation consoles. They were designed to play PS1 games in case nobody owns a PS1 but owns a PS2 or PS3! :D
@shadowsmexxii112 You can probably buy an used copy in second hand stores. Try ebay or amazon aswell. The PC version should be easier to find by the way.
This game was so good and beautiful. A real hidden gem that not many people know about!
Right!!!! Im invincible!! That tail whip ahh
This was my first playstation game. Oh the nostalgia is too much...SCREW ADULTHOOD! I want to play games and eat junk food with cousins and fight over whos turn it is. D'X

Oh my god. The nostalgia is killing me!
I remember playing this years ago. This one was easier to play than the 2 sequels.
My aunts sister had this for sega Saturn when I was like 5 or 6. I couldn't put this game down when I went over there
I never cry and I cried.
Soooo many references that I didn't get as a kid. lol
Seems right up my alley. :)
I played this on the Sega Saturn. I loved it.
Agreed! Those were the good ol days.
5:00 acid of death! I hate that acid because once you fall in it, you lose a life. this game can be really difficult.
Assuming that Gex either gets a new game or rebooted do you think the pop cultural references would actually work or just be outdated in a minute?
This game was fantastic! And still it is! Started this game again today :p
Оооо вот это настальгия
A lizard inside a TV world, a hedgehog with Super Speed, an insane bandicoot that befriends masks. We don't get these original ideas anymore, now everyone is just a guy with a gun.

I never thought i'd actually see a walkthrough of this. COOL!
I used to play this game all the time as a kid! (I still own it)
Also a rage filled wolf like creature with ancient war talons that collects the still beating hearts ( Real not I love you hearts) of evil demons that killed his race and destroyed his world.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who never made it past the graveyard stages due to the game having no save function whatsoever.
@shadowsmexxii112 You can probably buy an used copy in second hand stores. Try ebay or amazon aswell. The PC version should be easier to find by the way.
