Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church, located in Chicago, Illinois, is a historic Polish Catholic parish with a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. The church was founded to serve the growing Polish immigrant population in the area.
The parish was established in 1867 and originally located on Noble Street. As the Polish community in Chicago continued to grow, the need for a larger church became evident. In 1881, construction began on the current church building, designed by architect Patrick Keely in the Gothic Revival style. The church's impressive facade features twin towers and intricate detailing, making it an architectural gem in the city.
Throughout its history, Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church has played a significant role in preserving Polish culture and heritage in Chicago. It served as a center for religious, social, and cultural activities for the Polish community, helping them maintain their traditions and customs in a new country.
Over the years, the church has undergone various renovations and restorations to preserve its historical significance and beauty. In 1968, Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places, further recognizing its importance in American history.
Today, the church continues to be an active place of worship and remains an essential symbol of Chicago's Polish heritage. Its majestic architecture and rich history attract visitors from all over, making it a cherished landmark in the city's landscape.

I made my Holy Communion and Confirmation there. I remember the night it stormed so bad and lightning struck the tower on the right side of the building. Can't remember the exact year though. I'll be 70 this May ; )

Just seeing this, sorry. The Polish community rallied to save the Church. So the Kennedy curves around it.
