Congrats to that man. Now we're talking steel industry in HO. The mix of kits and scratch is impressive. No doubt it would be a dream doing ops on that layout. Thanks for sharing.
I used to work at British Steel Corporation Forges Foundries and (HEAVY) Engineering Sheffield UK in the 1970's. It was a large site 4 miles long 3 miles wide eith EAF, foundries, and VERY large lathes in several machine shops. We also made large parts for other steel plants in the BSC Group as well as our normal large engineering customers. I used to drive the hot metal trains as welll as scrap trains etc. NO REMOTE LOCOMOTIVES!! This model brings back so many memories of the UK steel industry in the 1970's. Mostly all gone.
I see videos of steel mills and wondered how they work. This is very informative, especially with the new production works and the old. He even has and explains the specialized track vehicles on what is called the high line rail. This is a gold mine of info for the steel mill modeler. High quality steel mill modeling at its best. Koodos and Thank You, Dave and all of those involved. ❤
I agree. Dave is so knowledgeable on how steel mills operates and happily shares that knowledge. I learned a lot just walking around the layout with him.
They were actually going to be having one today but I wasn’t able to stay for that. I’ll go again in the future during an ops session and do another video.

The sheer devotion required to produce a model railway of this standard is most impressive. One of the very best.
It’s very impressive! Dave does incredible work.

This is amazing. Detailed to the max. You get the trophy. Love to see this in person.
Excellent explanations. This video fills in some of the gaps in my understanding of the books I've read on the subject. Thanks for posting.
