I must admit...I am a little jelly of the yarn haul.
Aww, LOL. I bagged up the baby yarn to give to you.
@@MarieWinton thank you.
This is unbelievable, what a haul for you!! But if anyone deserves it you do. I know you will put it all to good use for sure!! Can't wait to see what you create with it 😊
Right? I'm so excited!! I need to reorganize the office/craft room closet so I can make more room for it all.
I have never nailed down the knitting skill.
I watched a short tutorial video last night and my brain feels like mush, OMG!! I'm determined to make it my goal this year to learn and I want to knit at least one thing by the end of the year, we shall see how that goes. LOL.
@@MarieWinton my mom crochets right hand and knits left handed so she can keep her yarn on the same side.
Years ago I was going to a different church and the pastor's wife tried to teach me to knit... didn't get it...if I made a mistake I had to take the whole project out because I couldn't fix it. Then my mom tried teaching me left handed and that was easier but I always had tension issues and I still did know how to fix the mistakes so I kinda gave up and stick with crochet and needle point.
I always wanted to learn to knit never did i crochet
Same here! I think after getting all these knitting needles in this haul it's the perfect motivation for me to start watching some tutorial videos on knitting. I hope I can catch on to it pretty quick, we shall see.
You can work bags from the little parts. It looks nice when the yarn change so much
I love it, that's a wonderful idea. Thank you so much!
I have a baby blanket to make that is in some form or fasion in the colors of purple and yellow.
I found it funny that I wrote the comment before you kept pulling all the yellow out.
Oh nice! Yes, this is perfect then!! This haul has several skeins of yellow. I will put them in a bag for you.
That is funny, and how perfect!
I excited for you. Enjoying. the reveal.
Thank you! I can't wait to make all sorts of fun projects from all this.
This reminds me of when I was given a large trash bag filled with yarn three separate times years ago by my má's friends. Together we used it up. My má crochet lots of blankets and some decorations while I knitted many hats, shawls, socks and lots of baby booties to learn different stitch combos. I also relearned crochet to show her new stitch patterns because she learned by looking at swatches. As a child I watcher her exchange swatches that her and her friends just added on to and that was how they learn new stitch and edge pattern along sample pieces that they made from patterns they liked and kept. So I made ones that she can easily read so she can try out. She still crochets though not as much because of her hands hurting but she been making couch cover for the armrests and to lay on couch backs. .... I had fun seeing this because I was given many similar yarns and wow that is a lot of knitting needles. 😊👍👍
Oh wow, that sounds wonderful!! My mom passed away a couple years ago but I have fond memories crocheting together with her when I was much younger. We would work on blankets together while watching some of her favorite TV shows.
Yes I totally get it. My má is my great grandma and we still crochet together here and there. I mostly knit but when I want to stash bust I crochet. So now I do a lot of both.
Ps you are so fast at commenting when I didn't even finish what I was saying 😋
If you're planning to learn to knit, you may want to to hold on to the knitting needles until you start to knit
Yeah, good idea, I realized that later as I was sorting everything. LOL. I'm so excited to learn.
I like to crochet and knitting to
I love crocheting, I find it very calming and relaxing and I try to crochet a little something everyday to unwind before bed. I want to learn to knit, it looks amazing and fun.
Knitting is so much fun. If you can crochet you definitely find it easy to knit.🎉What an amazing gift for you. Afghan gifted loom? Looms are very easy to work with and there are many videos on You Tube. I ´m so jealous 😊 The fuzzy brown yarn is great for crochet chickens. With all the yarn you don’t like for personal use you can donate to your local charity knitting/crochet group for the homeless or some shelters , Linus Project, cancer patients, baby hats , boggy creek……👍
That is fantastic to hear, I can't wait to learn to knit!! I would teach myself now but I have so many projects in the works with an event the end of August to get ready for. That's a great idea for the fuzzy brown yarn, I never would of thought about that. I have friends who have chickens, so it would be super cute to crochet them one. We have a couple yarn exchange boxes here around town, kind of like the lending book libraries where you can take a book and leave one in exchange. We also have a nonprofit organization here called SCRAP that is a donation-based creative reuse store and donation center, I've never been to it but this may be the perfect time to go check them out and maybe I can even make a future vlog about the place. I LOVE the idea of local charities, helping the homeless/shelters, and all the things you mentioned.
@@MarieWinton Do not worry , you will figure it out😀👍🌞
Don’t get rid of the knitting needles until you give knitting a try. You need at least one of every size to swatch and see what size needle works best.
Oh, that totally makes sense. Thanks! I'm excited to learn and hope I can get the hang of it pretty quick.
Look up knitting for crocheters. The Continental style tensions the yarn in the left hand like crocheting. But there’s several methods out there. Good luck!
Thank you so much, that is so helpful!
The lady can sold it and get some money. There is a lot if very good yarn. But it'ts good for you, she doesn't do that 😂😂😂. Have much fun with these yarn . I have much more and can't stop buying new yarn 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Right? She really could have made some money from all this but I'm totally happy to give it a good home and will make great use out of it.
My neighbor gave me yarn nothing like yours it was little balls not enough to do any project with
That is so nice! Maybe you could make a bunch of tiny granny squares and stitch them together for a pillow cover? I know that is one thing on my list of things I want to crochet later in the year with some of the smaller balls in my stash.
If you don't want the baby yarn, i would be happy to take it... I go through a lot of the baby yarn.
Yes! I will bag up what is left, I used some for a quick blanket but yeah I don't normally use baby yarn so I will happily gather it all together for you. Some of them don't have labels so I don't know details but I'm sure you will put it to good use either way.
Wow! That’s a lot of yarn
Right? I was blown away. I had no idea when she said I have some yarn I no longer want/need do you want it, OMG!!! I had to rearrange my normal yarn storage area and I still have a full tote I don't know what to do with so it's tucked away in the closet for now. I'm so excited to put it all to good use and I have so many projects in mind now.
When I have tried to use the looms my tension was alway to tight.
Oh, that's good to know! I have a feeling my tension will be the same, thanks for the heads up.
I didn't hear a public thank you to the lady who gave all that. If it was me, I'd send her at least some flowers and a card.
I may not have said thank you to her in this video because I was so overwhelmed by everything, distracted, and caught up in the moment. BUT believe me I MOST DEFINITELY said thank you to her as well as my mother in law when I got the yarn and I'm planning to make something special for them both as another thank you to give to them later.
That’s a treasure ❤ sad though she had to give it away. I would make something for her with the yarn.
My apartment managers mom donated a bag or two to me.
People who don’t have hobbies, don’t understand the passion and the price of yarn these days.
Shorty is adorable
❤🧶
That is a fantastic idea! I made a bunch of crocheted roses earlier in the year for my husband's grandmother's funeral, I really enjoyed making those so maybe something like that would be a good thank you gift!
@@MarieWinton I think she’d appreciate that. Especially some of the green and blue yarn in there. If I remember 🧶
Oh yeah, lots of greens and blues. I think some of the blues would be perfect for a mermaid tail blanket, I saw a tutorial here on TH-cam awhile back and thought it was beautiful and it would be a great winter blanket project.
Yeah seen a tuber do a JoAnn haul on yarn she was going for the $8 yarn. They had some that was $4.99. They had some discontinued colored yarn on sale yarn is expensive by depending the type of yarn it is like ultra plush, is is alpaca, angora
