  • Elli Milan has been a mentor for many artists through her professional art career. But before she became a mentor herself, she was a mentee. In this episode of The Light Movement Podcast, Elli sits down with her mentor Beverly McIntyre and they discuss how to get the most out of a mentorship and what it actually means to be a mentor.

We ran a church in NZ, we had “heart” (art) supplies…paints, easels and canvasses for anyone who wanted to paint. They could express themselves in any way they wanted. ❤God speaks through anyone who will listen.

Oh this is too funny! I'm working through the Mastery program on my own at home in Australia, and I've just started portfolio. The night before last I had a dream Elli was mentoring me and critiquing my paintings! Apparently I've used too much Magenta and Cobalt Blue previously😂 (Probably true) Elli also gave me tips on making my paintings more sellable. Thank you Dream Elli😘🙏

Ellie, this podcast was so powerful.
I knew I felt a strong connection spiritually when I joined the mastery program, and now I see exactly why.
God will direct our paths so strategically when we allow him to. Even if we have no clue where He is taking us at that moment, all the lines eventually connect.
I love how you learned how to be instant in season. What a valuable lesson, it's scary to be put on the spot, but what a way to KNOW you were hearing the voice of the Lord, and then to get that immediate comformation, wow!
    That was so empowering!
Thank you for being willing to share your entimate moments of your journey with all of us.
I love and appreciate all you are doing, and yes, you are a world changer. The whole Milan team are world changers.
Thanks again for saying yes and following your calling.

I’m about in tears listening to this podcast!
I hear, that “Your art is coming out of a heart “RELATIONSHIP” with The Lord.” I also hear how important it is to be in a mentorship relationship.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your vulnerability.
    I’m elated and encouraged.
To know The Lord in ongoing fellowship (RELATIONSHIP) and then to making Him known out of the overflow of that RELATIONSHIP is so important to me. To be able to flesh out who we are in Christ through art, to be “real”with our struggles, our joy, and pain is important. Artistic expression can touch the lives of others as well as heal our own.
I needed to hear this podcast, as I struggle to “show up” once again and start painting. It’s difficult to find and transition into a new medium. Feeling insecure as an artist, longing to find the joy again. It’s important for me to start, even in fear…of failure. I’ve been Praying for a Godly woman mentor.
    💕💕

This was just so beautiful to listen to, you speak a lot about religion in your podcast episodes, but I never truly thought about how deep your personal spiritual growth was. I truly and honestly believe that God has put the Milan Art institute in my life for a reason. I have started the Mastery program in December, and I am so exited about what this year is going to provide for me. Thank you for projecting light, love and growth, and just thank you for sharing your journeys with us. It truly inspires.

What a blessing to find Beverly! You are 100% accurate that most ppl either don’t want to help bc they don’t want competition and/or just take your knowledge and dump you. I’ve experienced both situations & it is refreshing to hear that you both say be generous.

  • @elsaba01

That is so important! Not only in art but in my own business too! It's hard when you can't imagen something that you COULD DO OR HAVE in life. It's hard to DO SOMETHING when you don't have the IMAGINATION of something you want.
You have to BELIVE it BEFORE you HAVE it!

@starveartist why are you being a troll with your comments and trying to ruin such a beautiful thing.
Prophetic, dreams, art, visions & the gift of prophesy do not come from religion, but from a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father.
If you want to learn about art, then sit back, watch, and learn.
Ellie, Dimitri, and the whole Milan team are top-notch and know how to teach you how to be an artist.
But being prophetic is not superstition, and it can not be learned but has to be earned.
It is a gift from God and very real.
Obviously, there are several of us on here who walk with the Lord. Who needed to hear a confirmation that we made the right decision, heard His voice clearly, and have no doubt were on the right path and completely in His will.
May God bless you and give you a road to Damascus experience in your journey that will be life changing forever. Have a blessed day🙌

@kimberlywiley8623 lol happy that you find enjoyment in shared delusional thinking. Gods have been created by humans for millennia to give more meaning to things people didn't understand, and to ease the fear of death and loss. As for my comments, they actually only help the engagement and algorithm for Ellie, even when I am critical when she veers too much away from art and into religious/magical thinking. It also got you to write a long comment, so they can thank me for that!!! 😁😁😁 Maybe I'm just doing Zeus' work!! 😁😁😁⚡️⚡️⚡️

In the Mastery Program is there religious indoctrination and talk of magic prophetic dreams? What if someone isn't Christian or religious? Can they learn to paint without believing in magic/religion/superstition?

@@starveartist to answer your many questions- it’s a fantastic art program that condenses 4 years worth of art education into a 12 month program. The program does not teach anything about religion. It’s a very thorough, effective program to help artists become skilled and equipped to step into a career as a professional artist.

    • @starveartist
      @starveartist 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@Loulani Thanks for your reply. It just seems hard to believe, when a large percentage their youtube videos make references to these things, and even the reality TV show. Everything "good" is synonymous with divine inspiration. Of course on youtube we can watch and learn for free, but if I were paying for it, it would be harder to not get super annoyed by it.

Thank you! Knowing what I know from being in ministry, myself and inner healing, this really resonated with me. I also realized that I have fear which leads to control not in the art realm, but another one it’s funny how the Lord can work to print things out that are not even related, and who knows perhaps they are related and maybe I will see that in the art realm. Keep it up it’s awesome I love this course.

This was such a beautiful episode! I realize now that I love being a mentor -- to support people in the journey to discovering why they are here and what they came to do. I just happen to do that with writers. But it all applies to being creative. Creativity is so much more than the arts. It's how we move in the world. And we need people to help us remove the barriers that are keeping us from BEING in the world. Good stuff!
