How do you cut YOUR food? 😂
not like that lol
@@PavSZ LOLOL
I don't cut my food...I eat like a monster... 😂 What is the name of that food sir?
Aye!!! I made it in the video! 😊 these primes look so good.
Hell yeah you did! Gotta rep the dad pose.
These lenses are really cool.
I'm honoured to be featured in your video my friend
Anson bringing the the heat on Thursday
Hahaha appreciate ya!
It's great that Nisi is rolling out more focal lengths, and great seeing you at the Nisi booth man!
Dude it was good seeing you too my dude!
Nisi Athena it's cool 🔥📽️📷
Yes indeed!
Great video dude! These Athenas have been on my radar for a long time. Might have to pull the trigger on a set soon. Great seeing you man!
Thanks dude! They are absolutely fantastic at this price point, hell even at larger price points. Dude it was great seeing you too! Next time we need to snag a pic together
That thumbnail hooked me. The Nisi lenses look solid.
Dude they SO good
Wow, the quality is hella beautiful. They give off a very high end doc vibe that could also be theatrical too.
Absolutely! I’m a fan
It was so good to meet you! The Pav segment at the end was hilarious.
It was good to meet you too! We shoulda snagged a picture together. Pav has a very screwed version of America hahaha
@@Ansonandco I know we should have! I came by on day two, you were talking to someone, I had planned to swing by later, but NAB is just nuts, one thing leads to another. Hopefully NISI will have you back and we catch up next year.
@@markwiemels absolutely!
Great review Sir! These lenses sound amazing, especially for the price. I'm really interested in the 40mm for its low light performance.
Thanks Ajay! The lenses are really impressive for how much you are paying
@@Ansonandco ya..You are welcome Sir
i like that 40mm range option for this set! great shots in here bud i'm sad i didn't make it out there this year
I know! It would have been so epic to have you there. Soon
@@Ansonandco hehe
so excited for the 18, I felt the 14 was too wide and I was looking for something wider than their 25 so this lens just came at the right time
I wish I would have gotten SOMEthing with the 18, it was apparently not the final production model and so we stayed away from it more than the other ones
@@Ansonandco ahh i understand
Nice man! Would have been cool to see how they look naturally without all the orange/teal, but great shots!
Appreciate it! Hit me up on IG I can give you screen grabs of just the rec 709 conversion
Would love to see some zooms to compete with DZO in that field. Any infos about that ?
Great video btw, thanks !
Not at this time. They have some really awesome stuff in the works, but I am not aware of zooms being an immediate roadmap item.
Also THANKS!
Take a look at the S35 Laowa Rangers. They're way smaller and lighter than the DZOs and have a cleaner image closer to the NiSis. They're also cheaper by a little bit
I filmed a short two weeks ago with the 35mm and 85mm I don’t think you can beat them for the price-assuming you’re comfortable working with such clean images. I personally prefer de-tuning the look in post when needed while knowing on the shoot day I will have (in essence) clean plates to work with, out of camera. Unfortunately I won’t be able to finish the film on an Athena. I have a final scene which calls for an 18mm to get the shot right, and unfortunately the new set won’t start shipping till July. But yes, I will be adding the new three to my kit as soon as they become available.
Nice! I am extremely interested in your detuning process in post. I am constantly trying to dirty up my SIGMAs
@@Ansonandco Most recently it was simply adding a light touch of lens blur in Davinci Resolve. Just enough to take the edge off. But the halation tool can get you there as well and will add some color fringing back in. All depends on your timeframe and patience. But unless you’re aiming for something really stylized, less is almost always more.
@@waveland I’ll have to try it out
I really like the look of the footage. Is this filmed on the Lumix s5ii? Everything I see Nisi it looks like they take off a lot of the digital contrast and make it look so gorgeously smooth.
Yeah this was all shot on the s5iix. I really like the organic look of these lenses
@@Ansonandco oh absolutely🍿 these lenses are clean but with a certain look to it. Great review👍 thx for that
@@romankuhler absolutely! Thank you for watching
I've checked many tiny new affordable cine lenses, but these Athenas look elegant, have all necessary focal lengths covered, clean, extremely good focus breathing control. I set put my eyes on Blazar Remus for Anamorphic, and this as spherical with sharp and clean image. These don't seem to have any notable quirk.
I haven’t been able to find any quirks personally. But that said every set has quirks, so I’m sure they are there
@@Ansonandco Sadly, they're not weather sealed as it seems vs IRIX.😅
@@Bo_Hazem that is a possible downside for sure
Wise in showing the trade show. I love you, son- mom
Thanks! Love you too. See you this weekend!
Awesome video!
Thanks!
@0:31 A WILD LOCKSLEY APPEARED!!!!
Hell yeah and with the dad pose
@@Ansonandcohe was doing it for me
If you were limited to 3 of their lenses what would you go with? I currently have the 35mm and 85mm on back order
That’s tough, they are all really good. But I would probably do the 35, 50 and 85. That’s my go to three lens kit. I do REALLY like the 40 and 135 though so MAYBE 18/25, 40 and 135
lol those are the ones I’ve struggled to decide between. Did they give any indication how long the wait may be on the new lenses? So you think the 135 over the 85 for interviews and b roll?
@@ChristianSmith while we were out there they were saying July or August for people that ordered at NAB and so I would assume it will be a wait, maybe closer to fall or end of year, but that is just a guess.
The 135 would be tight but If you have a bigger space I do like the compression. I use a 70-200 for my interviews and often have it at 135. I would be hard pressed to not go with an 85 though cause it more of a standard. Again, tough call. But in reality o probably would do an 85 THEN 135. It just depends on what you’re shooting. Sorry for the convoluted answer hahaha I’m sleep deprived from NAB 😂
@@Ansonandco All good thank you for the response!
Unrelated but I'm using davinci resolve to edit my sigma fp photos. I shoot in 6000x4000 resolution. But when I export they only come out as 1920x1080. How do I export stills with full resolution?
Bruh I literally cut the same way
Right?! Pav’s sample audience is scewed hahaha
Awful color grades throughout this video. It’s not the early days of DSLR filming anymore!
Thanks!
