Hand-built means the engines are hand assembled, take Ford SVT for example. They have a plant in Romeo Michigan specifically to manufacture the SVT Cobra, Focus, Ford GT, Shelby GT500 and Lightning motors. They get all the parts after they've been cast and machined then they have two people follow the engine and check to make sure everything is within tolerance and then break in the engines on dynos. That does not constitute to being on the assembly line.
I had the same experience with a 99 camry... no problems at all, did not bring it in for repair once during the whole time. I did my research and bought the 2009 corolla. I was suprised at some of the reviews that were complaining about it being "boring". Is that the best they can do is downgrade it by saying its boring. My opinion is the the only people reviewing it should put an emphasis on practicality.
For the advice to buyers of an economical reliable car, I have had a 2007 Corolla (in Australia), this model, with just 111,000 kms, now, which is lovely to drive, has not cost an unecessary cent, is comfy, easy, good. Great...
A wonderful car! My first was a 1988 which I drove for 13 years and got up to 283,000 carefree miles! I now drive a 2002 - I'm up to 100,000 miles and looks like new! Knock wood - it has never let me down. I've got a few more years to go before I buy my third - but the 2009 looks sharp!
I just bought a Toyota Corolla Levin SX Yesterday, i love it! I was driving a ford XR6 Turbo (Australian Car) and i dont care about the slight loss in power its zippy cheap to run and came with a great warranty 6 years or 175,000K Highly recomended
I have the '03 S model. No problems after 75,000 miles, just a recall on a bolt that's part of the power windows. They wanted $18,700 for mine back then, I talked them down to $15,999.
. i had a volvo 440 b4(95) and i know why volvos are volvos, it had a auto prop up stutter for the bonnet and boot...fog lights, power windows on all four, power mirror, heated seats and mirror, only thing i missed on it was steering control for audio. also had 10cd changer in boot, sturdy fenders, and comfy seats, the dashboard was even turned towards you, and lots of leg room in back also after you pull back the front seats,
1:42 sluggish response under part-throttle? I drive the CE of this exact year and the throttle always responds pretty much instantly no matter what... And this video was made when the car was brand new. Lol But the transmission is different. I see this one's a manual. The transmission can make a big difference in that regard.
@Headshot426 ,actually you're wrong, the gas pedal assembly is made by CTS ,here in Streetsville,Mississauga,Ontario,Canada. Anyways, doesn't matter where the parts came from,Toyota is proving that is not anymore the quality and reliable brand that used to be,NOT ANYMORE.
ps, according to the Associated press (AP) there were 89 deaths and 57 injuries officially linked to unintended acceleration over the past decade (between 2000 and current, with another 52 being suspected previously). terrible to be sure, but the recall and all the damage was done based on what could have potentially happened (but didn't). truthfully no one has any idea what is causing the trouble, but either way, breaks and neutral work really well.
You can enjoy yer cool styling up on blocks at either the mechanic's lot or in your driveway, while the savy Corolla owner, blandly motors along to his/her destination for years to come!
actually im thinking of getting the corolla S because I commute an hour from school, but the accord is alot nicer especially for its price, see if you can talk them down, we got our accord for 21,000.. in terms of horsepower and handling i'd definately go with the accord, the only reason i like the corolla is because of its respectable gas mileage of 35 mpg opposed to 31mpg in the accord. Either way both interiors are great and the accord feels more expensive than it is.
@fahadmuneeb :mine in australia has also got cheap horn,,,and the speakers and wires in boot can be damaged when you load/unload cargo, apart from ready to break fenders
"Ford was also criticized for wearing down Firestone tires during driving, which caused many wrecks during a short time period in 2003. Many people were injured and killed due to the wearing down of the tires. Although Firestone received most of the blame, some blame fell on Ford, which advised customers to under-inflate the tires." Well explain that, and show me a ford with over 350,000 miles on it like my camry that has only needed an oil pan replacement sir.
@shinjyusei Very true. All U.S. market Corolla's were built at the NUMMI plant in Freemont, California of 55% American parts up until very recently. That "Japanese" car has more domestic parts in it than a lot of Chevrolets or Chryslers on the road today.
yea completely understand. I actually think the corolla S looks quite good and gets amazing gas milage. I've got an 08 Audi RS4 and I basically use $55 of gas every 4 days....killing me, but I can't complain with its performance lol
Power Steering issues with car. It's drifts right to left. I see others in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported similar issues with the new EPS steering.
Toyota is still more popular, still has awesome reliability, don't see why loyal toyota customers should make a switch to VW, not to mention that VW's are more expensive to maintain.
you should try thru toyota site. after you configure your car and find a dealer they'll give you a call with a price quote which is usually a couple thousand below the sticker price. i know some guy that did that and he bought a 09 xrs for like 19,8XX and msrp was 22-23k...so give it a try and see if you get a good deal...good luck. i'm getting mine hopefully around june or july =D
hmm well my brother knows a guy that works there, use to go to school with him, hoping to get a type s with the TCS option to turn off for 15 or with the spoiler for 15.5
yea,i should've bought da auto transmission.Problem is , da gear ratio of corolla is short so its tiring to drive da manual plus da MMT technology makes it more difficult to drive on manual.
mine is overall pretty good. Somewhat smooth. Its obviously not a luxury car, but the suspension isn't too horrible. Simply put...you get what you pay for.
I'm no experienced driver, and it's not smooth, but the suspension sure does seem tough. My mother used to drive it over foot-deep potholes like they were nothing and the suspension hasn't needed any work, in fact, it still drives totally normal. Lol
While reliability is an important factor in choosing a car, most cars thesedays are as reliable and durable as Corolla. Here is another consideration. $100/hr mechanic service charge. I have driven two Toyotas. In real comparison, Toyotas aren't that impressive for they had some issues. But what makes you happy is important. My point also is that brand name does not guarantee your better end satisfaction. If styling makes people turn their heads, perhaps, a good look with Corolla can't hurt.
different interests thats why.like myslef,i couldnt stand driving on of these as a daily driver, not enough power.its not all about racing, its about getting around on being able to pass drivers with ease etc..he even said it in the vid
2010 Corolla, the EPS makes the steering wheel too stiff at highway speeds, at-least for my strength level, for heavy build guys it is probably a good thing. But this issue absolutely driving me nuts, should have gotten more fun to drive civic. how do I fix this issue?
The part was manufactured by CTS based in Elkhart, Indiana. There is a story on CNBC to check out dude. Toyota's are made in Canada and USA plants. Bashing them could cost North Americans jobs too. I doesn't matter where the parts are from just do better quality testing on all parts. Please also note that NA was meant to mean Not Acceptable....my apologies.
When U.S. automakers are facing bankruptcy and are their knees, the Government gives them billions in aid, but when a top automaker faces a problem, they get all pissed off.
Great Car! After my old camry dies in about 4-5 years I will invest in a corolla s. Unless we have all electric affordable cars by then. I honestly do not want to waste more than 15-20 k on car. Corolla s is within that range and has decent fuel economy.
@BlueCrystal021 generally yes, they do, especially when your the worlds largest automaker with a reputaion for safety and quality. thier quality is slipping quickly, and they obviously dont care about safety so what appeal do they have left?
Heheh, I have one of these except it's an LE (hubcaps, bottom of the line) but it is still an amazing car. My dad bought it for me used and it was pretty beat but still drives great, no problems. A lot of people are comparing it to a VW Jetta, (my mom has one) and she says my Corolla is awesome despite the fact she has a Jetta.
He has a point here, now I do agree with him though. Some decent would be nice, but some people only need a comuter car, they don't need 20-40K. Just don't get a smart car.
Toyota's quality image is far more exaggerated. If Toyota buyers and the media would focus on recalls, the numbers speak for themselves. The quality lacks, but fanboy hype keeps them alive.
Ford has done well and didn't need the bailout money so cudos to them. Owned a brand new '93 Chev Cavalier and the horrors of it would be over the word limit here. Better warranty doesn't make up for poor quality. I own a 2010 Corolla and have had no problems at all. Will stick with Toyota
to offence...cause i love toyotoa's.. but for the new model..the rear passenger setting was very uncomfortable... everytime at the back, i felt like throwing up.
@nickelwindow53 I can't answer for now, but back in the 70's and 80's Japanese cars had much tighter quality control than domestic cars. If a part failed to meet spec, it was refused by QA and sent back to be fixed. I would imagine that today's Japanese cars reflect decades worth of improvement and refining of the same process. American cars are getting much better because Detroit (finally) started emulating Japanese manufacturing techniques.
Toyota - You let me down - Had a real issue with my New Corolla 2009. It was the steering problem. Dealer nor Toyota Corp could fix it. On my on I got it fix but cost $1300 bucks. Toyota you can get better I know you can!
wesorder66 The spin is not from me, Consumer reports has dropped toyota from its recommended list as issues date back to 2007, the current issue (gas pedal) is not the only issue as other parts engineered by toyota ended up faulty, such as the oil flow failure issue. Folks have had nice chryslers too yet others have had issues,so not unique to toyota but appearing more often in toyota since 2007 as apparent quality has been failing
yea matrix has so much wind noise in hwy but other than that ,interior is way better and it has stronger, smoother engine,so i don't see why not upgrade to a matrix ,except if you don't like hatchback
I will always remember my new red 1988 corolla. After chrysler and ford products of that time I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I now drive a lexus IS 350 but that corolla still lives on in my memory.
I have one a Toyota Corolla 09 type S and it had have been a good friendship relationship

i just bought four hours ago im soo happy it's my first car
sarkis carboyan what did you ever do to it?
wow
How’s that going?

I went from VW to Toyota because I got tired of fixing it all the time
How’s that going?
@@tientrinh943 maybe they're too busy driving a car that just won't break 😂
Smart move.
Love my 09 Corolla
yay i got one for my graduation present!!!

Thanks. For the info. Thinking to buy a 2009 corolla s.
@@junellydiaz Good luck; Mine is still going quietly as new, c. 115,000 kms. Never spent any money, does everything well...

2019??
1:24 that little burnout though... Hehe.
I just bought one of these. It's pretty nice. I'm 6'3 and I fit in there pretty comfy. Driving it around so far I'm averaging 33 MPG
. i had a volvo 440 b4(95) and i know why volvos are volvos, it had a auto prop up stutter for the bonnet and boot...fog lights, power windows on all four, power mirror, heated seats and mirror, only thing i missed on it was steering control for audio. also had 10cd changer in boot, sturdy fenders, and comfy seats, the dashboard was even turned towards you, and lots of leg room in back also after you pull back the front seats,
check your wheel alignment, I have seen a few other thread where they have 09 EPS issues, if it is not alignment take it back to the dealer for fix
1:42 sluggish response under part-throttle? I drive the CE of this exact year and the throttle always responds pretty much instantly no matter what... And this video was made when the car was brand new. Lol

wat i hate bout it is da engine noise n the rear suspension n the rear seats position.
Where are you located? I just purchased one on May 10th in the USA.
@komahoby The Corolla sold in North America is made by a Canadian union shop, shipped to USA under NAFTA.
Hmm . . . isn't it strange that the only cars that were affected with the pedal/brake problem were the ones NOT manufactured in Japan.
U r so right Toyota make great cars.

this cars engine is more smooth than competitors, but the transmission needs to be a newer 5 or probably 6 speed to get better mpg and performance.
When does the 2010 Corolla S come out?
@fahadmuneeb :mine in australia has also got cheap horn,,,and the speakers and wires in boot can be damaged when you load/unload cargo, apart from ready to break fenders

what about your neon 1995 ?
does the corolla xrs version come with 2.4l and a supercharger stock?
hey guys I have one, and it's wonderful on the road,, I love it.. I like it better than Camry of 2009... believe me it's for cities..
the 140hp civic does not do 0-60 in 7.2secs lol. You're talking about the Civic Si that does it, which has 197 horses.

i own it too,its kinda underpowered in gear 4-5.I wish Toyota can fix this noise. Its really disturbing.
He has a point here, now I do agree with him though. Some decent would be nice, but some people only need a comuter car, they don't need 20-40K. Just don't get a smart car.
umm not really, its designed in japan and the majority or the parts are made in japan to.its only assembled in the states
Much better.
the body was designed in italy along with japanese designers, looks nice though =]

the AMERICAN consumer made the Corolla and the Civic the top selling small sedans in the U.S.

but for the new model..the rear passenger setting was very uncomfortable...
everytime at the back, i felt like throwing up.

why dont u buy a more comfortable but smaller yaris sedan ? its more fun to drive !
please stop making the compact car bigger, we'll buy a fuckin camry if we want space!
Bigger is better without paying more.
Joe Smith 🤣
All I am saying is, I prefer imports more than domestic, it's all just personal preference, the majority of the people I work with also feel the same.
this is a good car,period.
diesel?
